I can't wait until April 26th...This is going to be a blast. I was asked by the American Lung Association of California to MC a stair climb in the AON Center. This is the old First Interstate building in Downtown Los Angeles, now the 2nd tallest building in L.A. with 62 stories and 1377 stairs. The building 858 feet tall and was built 1974. 

 

The event is "Climb California Greater L.A.". It is southern California's inaugural stair climb event benefiting the American Lung Association of California. The Lung Association wants to promote exercise, clean air and clean living through this great event. I'll be there leading the charge up the stairs! There will be some serious competitors participating. I was told the winners will be complete the climb in about 7 minutes! I am an active guy who likes to runs, but I have been hitting the stair master at the gym lately to make sure I am ready for the challenge. I am hoping to complete the trek up in less than 15 minutes. I'll let you know how the event goes. OR..you can come down and participate. It is NOT too late to register. The best part of the climb is that you get a great view at the end! Yes, you get to go up on the TOP of the building and look out over the city. Hope to see you guys down there on the morning of the 26th.

WELL, RICK, I THINK YOU'RE SUCH A COOL GUY!!! YOU REMIND ME OF THE KIDS I USE TO PLAY "G.I.JOE'S" WITH WHEN I WAS LITTLE. SURE. IF I GET A CHANCE, I'D LIKE TO BE THERE, JUST FOR THE FUN!!! BUT... I'M NOT GONNA STRAIN MY MUSCLES TRYING TO MAKE IT UP THOSE STAIRS. I'LL TAKE THE ELEVATOR UP TO THE TOP, THAT IS IF THEY'LL LET ME. YOU'RE A GREAT GUY, RICK!!!

Thank you so much for doing this climb and the MC. These stair climbs attract a lot of wonderful and enthusiastic people and are so fun. I know you will feel great when you get to the top! See you there!

Rick, here is what you should have done. Have them drop you on the roof, walk down to the top floor, lean against a wall, Mama's donut in hand with coffee, and when they all got up there ask them "What took ya?"

Dear Rick!

That is just great what you are doing! I know you are active not only in your community, but elsewhere. Hats off to you!

My family and I live in PV and well, from one South Bay'er to another.....here is a FANTASTIC idea I was thinking about..... (I did tell Jillian already, sorry)....

Since we all love your "Hot Picks" why don't you think about doing a "Hot Picks Charity" segment or something of that nature. I know you love Save the Bay, but there are many other groups out there that are NOT big like Red Cross and Salvation Army.

I am part of an amazing group of South Bay women called Vistas for Children (www.vistasforchildren.org) and we raise over $250K a year for children in need, all kinds. We do only 2 events a year to raise that money! (Golf Tournament and Fashion Show) So we are some pretty kick ass women!

Hey if you play golf...might not since you surf, it is at the Rolling Hills Country Club April 28th. And our Fashion Show is in November and this year we have moved from the Beverly Hills Hotel to the Regent Beverly Wilshire.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you for what you do for your community and surrounding communities as it is soo needed. And as I have learned in my 35 years, every LITTLE bit does help.

hey rick...I must say I was not ecxited about climbing a 62 story building I am also a runner typically and do a daily bootcamp for women but since i just turned 40, about a month before you did, I rea;ized it wouuld be a good challenge for me. Then when you signed on to do it, well it made it all better! So, surfer boy...See ya at the top!

Wow ...seeing the picture kinda gives me a belly ache! Well Lets hope I can climb better than it apears I can spell, Yikes, I guess I was in a hurry...Or maybe it was the glass of red??

Thanks Dimirtri, a winner never quits and I like winning, so it works for me, sort of! Too bad Rick didn't get his Mama's donut and a nice sugar rush to give him better times. Remember that a quitter never wins...cheers Rick!
