Why do I love Vampires? Let me count the ways.

I think it goes back to my childhood when my Godfather used to cover his face up to his eyes with his coat then chase me and my sister around the house. It wasn't long after that I watched "Dracula" starring the fabulous Bela Lugosi. In the 60's, Christopher Lee played Dracula in several movies. One of my treats of the trade was interviewing the great British actor on the golf course.
I think part of my fascination with vampires comes from the ungodly hours I keep. I have spent most of my career in T.V. news and radio working late at night and sleeping much of the morning. But vampires are also easy to like. The leaders of the pack tend to be tall, dark and handsome and can hypnotize a beautiful woman with one look into her eyes. Admit it ladies! They're mysterious, tortured and never satisfied which makes them the ultimate bad boy. I'll admit their appetite for blood makes them a little less appealing. But hey, we all have our vices.
There have been alot of bad vampires. Sadly, Tom Cruise did not work for me in Interview with the Vampire (1994). One who was surprsingly good was Gary Oldman. When Bram Stokers Dracula (1992) first came out, the casting of Oldman was surprising. But being the incredible actor he is Oldman sunk his teeth into the part proving it's better to have charm than good looks. I recently saw 30 Days Of Night. I won't bore you with a review (I enjoyed the movie a lot except for the end). Danny Huston was terrific playing one of the scariest vampires I have seen. In fact all of the vampires in this movie were fun to watch.

I guess being up all night isnt that bad. And vampires do get the chance to live forever. Although, Antonio Banderas character Armand in Interview with the Vampire did say this.
"The world changes, we do not, there lies the irony that finally kills us".

So Rick:

What do you think of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"? (Har Har).

You Know Who!

"Mr. E" from Cypress

P.S. I know you and Mark are great buddies, so keep egging him on when he becomes the "Boogie Man" in Maria's time off! (I know you're just keeping an image by saying STOP, but that's okay!)

Gary Oldman was awsome in Brahm Stocker's Dracula. I like the way they tell it. It was actually a love story. If you catch the very beginning then you see why he was so angry, and why he could never rest searching over the centuries for his lost love. Great special effects.
Interview with a vampire.. gasp, Brad Pitt looked awsome. I liked that he had a hard time getting into the taking lives part. Oh and how gross, putting blood in a glass for him to drink, we all know how blood coagulates really fast, made me gag.
Buffy the vampire slayer, I love the scene when (pee wee Herman) is dieing. Ooh ahh eee, eee ahh ooh, stomping the floor great scene.

Vampires are cool, kinda sexy and definitely bad boys.
Sounds a lot like "Dexter"… ever watch it? It is the most addictive show ever. (It is on Showtime or DVD) If you like vampires... you would love Dexter. He is more believable, but vampires are still very cool.

Never have watched Dexter, well a few minutes once. I just feel weird about the story line. We dont need this kind of stuff to really happen and I am so supersticious. You know like flash Gorgon and his flying machine and then years later it came out? Those futuristic movies about these extremely dry only lots of dirt places where gas is like gold and their isnt enough water? I see that happening too.
Its like borrowing trouble. thats just how I feel, I am sure the show is probably really good. On Showtime I like Weeds and Californication, especially Weeds.
Oops looks like the sun is coming up, gotta go jump into my casket before I burn up.

Good blog I am so in the mood to be moody! Didn't care for Tom either but it made it easier to see bad things happen to him unlike Brad in Legend of the Falls. Just nice to see a change from all the bad news and dumb tv. My husbands neighbor did the makeup on Blackula.

I'm sorry it wasnt Kate Winslet, it was Kate Bekinsal.
What was the vampire movie with Eddie Murphy? That one was pretty cool, kind of funny but not really all comedy. He looked pretty good in that.
