What ever happened to "the truth hurts"

Far too many times I read/hear of people being offended because someome else spoke

their mind and told the truth, or what they believe to be the truth, or their opinion.

I hear that todays youth is the "me" generation, yet others in all generations find it

necessary to point out  that someone said or did something to offend them.

I am not saying that people should not defend themselves if they have been wronged or

wish to debate a certain subject but that they should not expect others to change

themselves for their own personal feelings or beliefs.

(yes I include myself in this category)

There is an OLD saying to wit;

There are THREE faces to every peson..The Face that WE see,,The face that evryone ELSE sees and the TRUE face..Along WITH this saying goes the Philosophy that the PATH to TRUTH and Happiness is to bring ALL three faces to the SAME place..To achieve HARMONY among them..

The Liberal LEFT’S philosophy is that TRUTH doesn’t EXIST except in the perception of the Individual,,Thet the face everyone ELSE sees matters little and the TRUE face matters NOT AT ALL.. SELF ESTEEM is the ONLY thing that COUNTS…Without the other two faces though,,Self Esteem can ONLY become SELF DELUSION..Poitical Correctness is ONLY an attempt to FORCE everyone to “See”,, or at LEAST to PRETEND to “See”,, that DELUSION ..NOT the TRUE face..THAT IS WHY IT FAILS…..

I find THIS to be as good an explanation as ANY as to WHY so many Liberals are NEVER Happy,, ALWAYS Bitter and Constantly trying to Change things..To ONE with NO harmony NOTHING is EVER good enough..

Consciously or unconsciously, every living creature seeks one thing. In the lower forms of life and in less advanced human beings, the quest is unconscious: in advanced human beings, it is conscious. The object of the quest is called by many names — happiness, peace, freedom, truth, love, perfection, Self-realization, God-realization, union with God. Essentially, it is a search for all of these, but in a special way. Everyone has moments of happiness, glimpses of truth, fleeting experiences of union with God; what they want is to make them permanent. They want to establish an abiding reality in the midst of constant change.

We are all in the same struggle...

Well said Hawkeye.
Political Correctness or known as PC is an attempt to mold people into one thought instead of free will. If you dont like what I say, my opinion, or what I call someone thats your opinion but dont force what you believe on me. To me I always thought the freedom of speach or expression is just that, my freedom or right to. If you dont like it say so because its your right but dont get offended.

When opinion holds more weight than truth it becomes ignorance...

I think Eric said it best. I thought about this after reading the responses about the school uniforms. Some where offended because of what and how he said it and vowed not to vote for him next year even though they agreed with his policy. I was wondering why people put so much weight on others words even though they seem to grasp the concept. PC seems to have fallen into all aspects of our lives to the point that we change our wording or even our thoughts and actions because we are afraid of offending someone or group of people. On the flip side how many times have we done this just to find out later it wouldnt have offended anyone. There are a few recent items that come to mind, The pants down around the Butt, people with tattoos and piercings, people with dreadlocks, the term African American, Ones political views. These are some examples where some want to change something because they dont like it even though it has no direct bearing on themselves

Ride, Do you remember the old school yard saying, Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me. Well some people forgot that. The biggest thing about PC is the term African American, why do the blacks think it applies to them? I knew of a person who is white and she was born and raised in South Africa then moved to this country and became a citizen. To myself and her, she is a true African American. On the other side of the coin I knew of another person who is black and her family came from one of the South Pacific Islands. Besides the majority of people that live here in the USA are only Americans of some other heratage since they have to go back many many generations to find the one who came here in the first place.
Here are a few examples which only involve my family: My Great Grandmother came from Germany with my Grandfather as a child. He was raised here in the USA. My Father was born and raised in New York City. I was born in Conn. Does this make me a German American? My Mothers great Grand Parents came from Ireland and the rest of her family were born and raised in New York city. As I have told my wife on many occasions about her heratage, she was born and raised in New York city too so she is an American like me. Her heratage is of Puerto Rican decent.
It is great for one to keep their heratage and family traditions, but to try to force PC into it and the use of wong termonolgy just confuses the issue.

Some people might think this is crazy but think hard about what I am about to say.
Gene Roddenbery who created the TV series Star Trek casted the crew of people of many nationalities (except Spock) but in his thinking he was sending us a message that if WE AS PEOPLE would forget OUR prejudice and work together as one, then maybe something like this could be possible. A good example in now a day times is the ISS.

Eric..What ELSE would you call someone like Wright who has NO ties with Africa and HATES being an American???Why African American,of COURSE..

THIS business of racial Identification has ALWAYS been confusing..

We call S.Americans "Hispanics" though FEW have EVER been to Spain and that RACIAL ID. applies as much to Blonds Haired Blue eyed Cameron Diaz as Much as it applies to Pele'..

At MY age,,I've SEEN the Blacks going through this Identity Confusion throughout MOST of my Lifetime..EACH acceptable name of today becomes as Politically Incorrect as the "N" word as they progress into most acceptable ID of tomorrow...

Seems that the most widely dispersed product produced in America today is an Identity Crises..LMAO..

Is it okay for ME to SAY that???
LMAO..

Hawkeye lets go one step further, what do they call blacks in Africa? Other than the tribe names some are from I dont know, but what I was told once others are just called balck people.

My brother-in-laws and I were joking around and my neighbor was brought up because he is white and married to a person of mixed race. I told them that he was more Spanish than they were. They couldnt figure it out till I told them his family is from Spain. Talk about being confused.

There is an old saying : " You can be more truthfull than a lot of people can stand !" I'd heard that from an older wiser gentleman one night, it was meant as a warning to those less experianced with the public at large. My thought on the matter was that if the truth offends someone, wouldn't that caste their character in a bad light ? I prefer to get along, but if ruffling feathers and stepping on toes is required so be it ! Honest people will tell you what you don't want to hear, knowing full and well that you need it !

I don't have to politicaly correct about anything. I don't offend people, but if I say Merry Christmas to someone, and they get offened, that's their problem. If we could get rid of the ACLU, that would be a good start.
