Cheney Knew going into Iraq was going to be a Quagmire. Why didn’t he plan better for this war? Stupid is what stupid does.

Well here's my 2 cents and for those who never served in the military, but are awesome armchair Generals, Cheney is right, the mission wasn't to go North and take over Iraq in the First Gulf War, it was to push Iraq back and free Kuwait. Now at that time Iraq I believe had the 3rd or 4th largest Army in the World. All the Muslim countries were on board because Saddam attacked without just cause.
With Iraq now, we are still not in it alone. To the armchair General, do you know how many counties support us in Iraq? Yes, mistakes happened now, but if we had "I voted for the war, now I want to change my mind" President things would be different and probably in a worse way. Does anyone remember when Clinton sent troops to Kuwait to counter Saddams threat? I would bet -no. He did launch one of his missile solutions time and time again. Does anyone remember the "no-fly" zone? Oil for Food?

Bush and Cheney are Fools; it's obvious that they went in to Iraq for all the wrong reasons. If they would have taken time to THINK about what was going on we wouldn’t be stuck in this Quagmire. This Administration is the WORST, in the History of America, and you don’t have to be a military man to see this. The active troops in Iraq include Denmark, Australia, Poland, United Kingdom, and of course the U.S., the Way I see it that’s five Countries that‘s really putting up man power. 98% of the military is from the U.S. and Britain and is therefore accurately described as a predominantly Anglo-American force rather than as a coalition.
United States: 250,000 invasion--158,000 current (6/07)
United Kingdom: 45,000 invasion--5,500 current (5/07)
Poland: 194 invasion--2,500 peak--900 current (2/07)
Australia: 2,000 invasion--638 current (2/07)
Denmark: 300 invasion--430 peak--180 current (7/07)

There’s are 18 other countries with less than 100 troops in Iraq

Many nations received monetary and other incentives from the United States in return for sending troops to or otherwise supporting the Iraq war. "Bribery”.
Below is a partial list of some of the incentives offered to coalition members?
Turkey - Turkey was offered approximately $8.5 billion in loans in exchange for sending 10,000 peacekeeping troops in 2003. Even though the US did say the loans and the sending of troops to Iraq were not directly linked, it also said the loans are contingent upon "cooperation" on Iraq.

Singapore - In May 2003 the Bush Administration signed a free trade agreement with Singapore, the first with an Asian country. In announcing the deal, President Bush hailed Singapore as "a strong partner in the war on terrorism and a member of the coalition on Iraq." Asia Times columnist Jeffrey Robertson argued was a reward for Singapore's support of the Iraq invasion.

Australia: In 2004 the Bush Administration "fast tracked" a free trade agreement with Australia. The Sydney Morning Herald called the deal a "reward" for Australia's contribution of troops to the Iraq invasion.

Great Britain: As of 2006, the Independent reported that British companies have received at least £1.1bn contracts for reconstruction work in postwar Iraq.

This war was Stupid what did we achieve? We didn’t Catch Bin Laden; remember him, the guy responsible for 9/11. We are NO safer now than before 9/11 because Bush's own administration say's so. War ON TERROR MY AZZ. LMMFAO!!!!!!!! It’s not a total loss though, all Americans will think long and hard before we elect another DIMWIT to the office of the President. It's Crazy that people still support this A-hole(Bush).

I'm confused on something, in what way are we not safer than 9/11? Last I heard we haven't been hit since then or am I missing something?
Maybe we invaded for the wrong reasons, but it's sucking most of the terrorist to Iraq. I rather fight there than here. Hell I rather fight there than fight in Detroit and by meaning Detroit, I see more senseless murders. At least in Iraq I can shoot back! I've lost 14 friends in both Wars since'01. But I will tell you this, if the military was allowed to do what they're trained for instead of the left-wing media showing the negitive, people would think twice.
Are you a cut-in-run person? Don't vote for the supplies the Soldiers needs. If you are, that's ok. If you think the war is stupid like you say, that's ok too, you have that right. But don't say "what did we achieve", because I'm about 99.9% sure you didn't go over there. I'll tell you what I achieved when I was there. Ask me and I'll tell you.

You ARE missing something.
You would have to ask your president about our safety that's what THEY (the bush administration) are saying Al-qeada is as strong as ever.
The same Al-Qaeda that's in Iraq was in Afghanistan. Some went to go fight "Americans" in Iraq. Afghanistan was harboring Bin Laden, now he’s in Pakistan living the high life, thanks to being bogged down in the Iraq war. We went to Iraq on Bullchit.
LMMFAO @ Cut and Run. No I'm not a cut and run person, but I am a get who we are after person (Bin laden). If we would have gone after the people who did 9/11 we would be a lot Safer then what we are now. Those people should have paid with their lives. If we did have another terrorist attack I'm sure the spin cycle would blame it on Clinton, the liberal media, or some other LAME AZZZED Excuse.
Are you trying to say that the “left wing media” LOL is keeping the army’s hands tied in Iraq? Bush went to war on Faulty intelligence; it’s plain to see that he didn’t have a plan. Our troops should been in Afghanistan Kicking ass and taking names. But instead were over in Iraq playing police officer. We didn’t go to war with a Country we went to war on “terror”. Where is terror located?
What does Terrors flag look like?
Bush took us to war with an Ideology. Al-Qaeda doesn’t have a home land. Sorry to hear about your 14 friends who died over there. But you can’t blame Clinton. He sent Tomahawks to do Inspections on buildings when Saddam wouldn’t let us in to look. DO you approve of Bush Sending our Boys over in harms way just because he wants to give Al-

DO you approve of Bush Sending our Boys over in harms way just because he wants to give Al-Qaeda an easier target then Americans in America? That Logic is flawed you being a military man and all, is that why didn’t you re-enlist?
P.S. I think that Iraq has a few more senseless murders than Detroit. Speaking of Detroit Mr. Tough Military man. When was the last time you’ve been to Detroit? Don’t drink all the kool-aid save some for bush and Cheney.
LMMFAO
P.S.S. Your Damn Skippy I didn’t go to Iraq!!!!!

wolakp,

I'm for pulling out of Iraq because we shouldn't be involved in their civil war. You feel Al Queda is the resistance against us, but I would beg to differ. I ask you to consider if this happened here, would you not fight with all you had to get the Iraqis off our soil? Now that's just part of the reason. The other is we are establishing a democratic society and they have lived with Church and State joined together for what a couple of thousand years. Who are we to decide that there whole way of life is wrong? I am for getting back to going after Bin Lauden and the boys I just don't think after the way George has handled Iraq that another country will want us on their soil.

SEEDUB,

Well let's see, last time I was in Detroit...Tiger game last Monday against the Devil Rays...driving through to go to Louisville two days ago. I left Detroit in '88 for the Army, I came back for my last 3 years in '04. What's your point about Detroit? You lost me on that comment.
The war that you mentioned, I'm not going to argue with someone that didn't go over there and doesn't have a clue what we are doing. I fought and served for you to have your own opinion. I don't have a problem what you say execept for the comment about not re-enlisting, I'm retiring, I served 20 years and deployed under 3 Presidents away from my family. I ask you what have you done for your country? At the very least I hope you vote!

Tallmanok2,

Let say we do pull out of Iraq, they continue to have their Civil War. I really don't care who wins in their Civil War. The problem lays if a certain side starts to lose, a certain country will get involved to prevent their side to lose, like Iran or Saudi. Now look at the Kurds in the North. I have a friend working there, helping dispose unexploded ordnance and he wrote me that it's a totally different county. The Kurds only issue is Turkey, Turkey thinks that the Kurds are terrorist. The problem I see is that one faction was so surpressed by another faction for so long they want payback. That's my opinion about their Civil War. But if you notice, be don't have troops where the Kurds live. There's no need, they get along.

Why yes I do Vote, and you were the one who brought Detroit into this conversation. “Hell I rather fight there than fight in Detroit and by meaning Detroit, I see more senseless murders. At least in Iraq I can shoot back!” Does this refresh your memory? It’s also very cute to say “I'm not going to argue with someone that didn't go over there and doesn't have a clue what we are doing.” Are you talking to me or Bush, because he has never served and he DIFFINITELY doesn’t have a clue!!! LMMFAO!!!! I believe you just have a weak Argument about this war, and that's why you have nothing to say. I really do appreciate your service to our country, God bless you! Thanks for serving so I can have my own opinion, that‘s very noble of you. I know you had me in mind when you enlisted 20 years ago. Like I said this quagmire is still going on and we are still no safer now than before 9/11.
Our troops should have been used much wiser, like going after who attacked us, not over throwing a government that had no way to hurt the U.S. To have “peace” over their in that country we ether have to kill all the people who hate us being there, which is a whole lot of people, or leave and have all the people who supported our invasion killed. What would you consider a “WIN” in Iraq? What did you achieve over there?

Wolakp- It takes a special person to voluntarally enlist and serve their country for the prupose of making sure that others do not have to. I spent 6 years in and got out after reenlisting once and fulfilling my contract. My reasons for not being a lifer were personal (family related) and I do regret that I could not continue.
Not everyone is cut out to put others above themselves. It is a noble cause and one that people like seedub will never understand.
I joined in 84. Loved every minute of it.
Thanks for your 20.

There once was a bird who didn't fly south for the winter. One day when it got really cold the bird fell to the ground, and was well on his way to freezing to death. Then along came a cow, that crapped right on the bird warming him, therefore sparing his life. The bird got so happy he started to chirp. A cat over heard the chirping from the pile of dung, uncovered the bird, and promptly ate him. The moral of the story is that somebody who puts you in chit isn’t always your enemy, and a person who get's you out of chit isn't necessarily your friend.
