Well since I'm the self-proclaimed hockey nut around here I guess its time for me to predict how far the Lightning will go in the playoffs this year.

First off, I must tell you I have some seroius concerns. On offense the only thing the bolts can count on is their M.V.P. line, also known as Marty, Vinny and Prospal. It takes more than one line to win Lord Stanley's cup. Brad Richards can't do it all by himself on the second line, and the third and fourth lines can only be counted on for the occasional score.

The defence is better known for the scoring of Dan Boyle and Philip Kuba more than any play stopping prowess. In goal its all up to "HOLMER". He needs to find the consistency that has avoided Lightning goalies all season long.

So here is my call. Tampa Bay matches up great against the New Jersey Devils and will beat Martin Broduer and company in six games. Meanwhile Buffalo will take out the Islanders easily so the Bolts get the Sabres in round-2. That is where it ends for "Torts" and his men. Buffalo wins in an easy five games. Then Jay Feaster can begin his off season trying to figure out how to make this team a seroius contender.

Jay Feaster needs to consider several additions to make the team a "serious" contender. First, a quality goaltender. Denis didn't do it. Holmqvist a little better, a decent backup. Neither of them a Khabibulin at his best.

Second, at least two more quality scoring forwards. Remember Modin? I like Fedotenko but he has not been outstanding this year. Perrin gives it his all, but not a big time scorer. We have a bunch of third and fourth liners but none have shown much scoring potential. Craig did until hurt. Tarnasky puts out effort.

Third, on defense, Dan Boyle is amazing. Kuba adequate, Ranger did not step up this year, O'Brian looks like a solid player for years ahead. We will need someone new, agile and strong on defense for next year.

So, there are four spots where we need help. Goaltending comes first.

Glad you moved here, Tom, you've helped make Tampa Bay a better place to live and Fox TV a great channel to watch.

Holmqvist stepped up and had a terrific game. This gives us high hopes of taking the series from the Devils. Can they do it in six games? I will predict it goes to seven.

MY FAMILY MOVED FROM CANADA TO CALIFORNIA WAY BACK IN 1964. THE GOLDEN STATE IS WHERE MY BROADCASTING CAREER BEGAN AT STATIONS IN SAN JOSE AND SACRAMENTO BUT IN 1994 I MADE THE BEST MOVE OF MY CAREER BY MOVING TO FOX 13 IN TAMPA. NOW 13 YEARS LATER I'M STILL ENJOYING BOTH THE STATION AND THE AREA. I'VE TRADED THE GOLDEN STATE FOR THE SUNSHINE STATE, AND WHAT A TRADE ITS BEEN. BY THE WAY, GO LIGHTNING!
