Ramblings of the Village Idiot

Greetings to all you Yankees! Please excuse us for sending Hanna your way, it wasn't our choice. Next time y'all are in church, complain.

Do you folks still have those old fashioned voting machines? Pull the lever, flip the toggles, pull the lever the other way? If so, watch carefully when you sign the book. They will give you a slip of paper with a number and write the number in the book. I once asked about this and was told it just doublechecked the number of votors.

I proceeded to collect everyone's numbers on line, put them in my hat, and had everyone pick a number. When you vote, they take your number and you pull the lever, etc. I got caught doing this the next time I voted and had to explain what I was doing to the head honcho there and the police. The cop loved it, the honcho did not. Seems they DO know how everyone votes. I was watched very carefully on subsequent elections, aparantly I was red flagged in "the book". Why not ask about this and see what they tell you?

I know you will say I shouldn't throw stones since I live in Florida and we all know what that means in elections; as Florida goes, so goes the Nation!

One thing I've noticed hereabouts is that the 2 political "sides" have become distorted. Sure, Liberals think Conservatives are idiots because they are wrong, lazy, stupid and probably Gay. Conservatives think Liberals are idiots because they are wrong, lazy, stupid and afraid of becomming Gay. But there IS a third group emerging: A group that is tired of the bull from both conventional sides. Folks that refuse to say "I'm a Liberal so what my candidate says and stands for has to be right." Folks that know that we're being screwed by all sides and there is no "right" choice. As more and more folks have to keep bending over it will be very interesting indeed to see where we end up in a few years.

Today's assignment.... List the order in which you put on your clothes in the morning. Be brief.

I've noticed a few posts lately where folks merely quote the Bible. I guess that's considered "spreading the word". I've advised some of these folks that I, for one, would be more interested in their take on Biblical history than reading something I already have at home. I've also asked why I must burn in Hell for eternity if I don't accept the Bible as the literal word of God.

This is where things get kinda cute. To prove that the Bible is truly the word of God, one person quoted from the Bible! I mentioned that that's like proving the theory of evolution by quoting from Origin of the Species. Good comparison, right? I guess not as I got more Biblical quotes.

I can't understand why, when I ask questions, I get stock answers (quotes) or am called an athiest or nasty things. Asking questions is how we learn and form opinions, and THAT'S what blogging is all about; not cut and paste. I've asked for personal views on certain scripture and have received thought provoking responses from a few but not many. Why? Why do folks question my faith because I ask questions?

Seems to me that God gave us 2 things: Time and a fairly decent brain. We should choose wisely what we do with our time. I choose to help folks and ask questions. Why is that a problem with so many? And PLEASE; don't tell me what the Bible says. I have one and I read it.

Here's an alternative view for you folks that quote the Bible. Take the time to watch the entire video. Although a bit on the fringe, he does make sense if you THINK about it.

Give it a shot and let me know what you think.
