Here's an alternative view for you folks that quote the Bible. Take the time to watch the entire video. Although a bit on the fringe, he does make sense if you THINK about it.

Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

I have heard this guy before. He can definately put a spin on things.... He appears to me, to be a bit mean spirited and bitter. I wonder WHAT has happened to him AND why he comes off that way??? Could just be my perception.

I think his spin "Generalizes" things too much as well. I think it's unfair to lump ALL clergy as "wanting to only help themselves". The way he presents it, makes it sound good, but I think his presentation is unfair and untrure.

He also compares apples to oranges in regards to what animals and humans think. Animals, are not able to process all the things that humans do. I haven't seen my cat read the Bible or Koran lately.... lol

Just seems like he throws everything in the same basket. When you review what he says, his levels of quality, quantity or relation don't quite hit the mark.

I agree but while this guy is down on religion in general, he makes a great point about keeping it out of government and politics. He has no problem with individuals worshiping as they please.

When I see those stylized fish or any other religious identifier on the back of cars or in advertisements I think "what's the point"? Last year I saw one of those fish that said Darwin and was amused.

Proclaiming ones beliefs to the world seems silly to me although I use a pentacle as my pic. I do it for contrast.

So Pat has a point if you take a general approach as to what he's saying. A very good point indeed.

I know what you mean about the bumper sticker thing.... I have never had "any" type of sticker on my car. And I, like you, find myself scratching my head at times thinking "what the heck", or "who cares".

I also agree with the point of keeping religion out of government and politics. The problem arises when we have to make laws in regards to "MORAL" basis... Sometimes moral issues just happen to overlap with government issues. Slippery slope, I suppose.

Seems like a country founded under God, by God believing people in general, are going to seek those types of values in regards to laws.

Christians are suppose to HONOR the laws of/set up by their government. It's a Biblical thing. The example of abortion comes to mind. It's legal! I don't condone it and never would seek one, but I would never attempt to STOP or force my opinion on anyone. Unless, they asked me. I have had people come to me in that situation. I always treat them with love and kindness. They need help and information, but the choice is theirs alone.

Just seems like MANY issues fall in this catagory. And now, everyone is offended by everything........

I'm sure you have an interesting congregation. So many go to church looking to be led, looking for an answer they are ordered to believe. This, you don't seem to do. You cause folks to think and make moral decisions as guided by faith and the Bible. I'd give a tooth to hear you preach.

Well, I always say that I am a bit unorthodoxed in my approach to things.... You have me figured out Vit. My job is to present things to people, all people. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn't. I like it better when THEY find the answer. I'm just there to give them a "word", but I sure do like it when the lights go on!

A secular world is a sane world. Is this the one? I like this guy. I've seen some of his other comments.

Pastor D. Love is a beautiful gift!

Compromise is usually the best solution. Pat is a troublemaker who tries to appear docile and harmless. But he does make many good and valid points.

You know I think that part of the problem today is that we are bent on trying to apply the "literal" meaning of words. English being a wonderful language allows us the flexability to uses words in different context's but so often when it comes to religion we are determined to dismiss the options available. EVERYTHING in the bible is an interpretation yet we read it verbatum. Maybe we would all profit from opening our minds a little wider and letting all the possibilities in.
