The Cocoa Beach City council is deciding whether or not to put signs to warn people of the skin cancer risks.  The big idea came from the World Skin Cancer Foundation.  The city council is voting on it tonight.

We haven’t heard the result, but what do you think?  What would you think of signs reminding you of skin cancer?  Would you then be reminded to slap on the sunscreen or would you still bake in the sun?

Why would they put up a sign about skin cancer at the beach? What does a day in the sun and surf with your family have to do with that?

I think it is a GREAT IDEA. To many people go to the beach and either forget to put on the sunscreen or they do not know the real dangers of skin cancer. I think this Warning Sign will help make more people aware of the dangers of skin cancer and I also think there will be a drastic decrease of skin cancer due to these signs.

They could add it to the signs already in place warning of dangerous marinelife, jellyfish, rip tides, and dangerous surf. BUT will they take in the effect of the COST of doing this since everyone is talking about the budget cuts?

It wouldn't hurt to add skin cancer skins if they don't word them in a lame way. It might be a good idea to remind people to use sun screen with proper protection. Some times it's to have fun and forget to re-apply.

I live in the Cocoa beach area, we have enough signs and that one would be just another useless sign we won't read. Most of the time the signs become the place where stickers of your favorite surf company and the like.

Do we really need to tell people to wear sunscreen! What is this world coming to. What next? How about a sign that asked us if we brushed our teeth! I think it is a waist of time and money.

COME ON.. Another sign. If one does not know by now to wear sunscreen to avoid skin cancer. A sign at the beach is NOT going to help. THE government needs to focus on bigger issues. Not whether or not someone wears sunscreen. Is this another HOT COFFEE ISSUE......

Frankly, I love the sun and I know there are many people out there that worship the sun..EVERYTHING in moderation can be GOOD for you. Would I mind? No.

Those signs didn't work on the cigarettes boxes either.

Why can't they vote ON HOW TO SAVE THE CHILDREN; THE SCHOOLS; OUR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION...I guess this is extremely important because in 2008 NO ONE has heard of the deadly exposure to UV rays. TAX PAYERS MONEY AT WORK.
