The City of Tampa is celebrating its 120th birthday, and they're commemorating the occasion with a time capsule.  It will be opened in 2037, and guest contributors have been invited to add an item of their choice to the capsule.

FOX 13's own Kelly Ring was selected to take part, and she's chosen to add a DVD with clips of our newscasts and video of the city.   She's also adding a mini-DVD player, so that those who open it in 30 years will have no problem viewing it.

Kelly chose the DVD, but what would you pick to add in the time capsule?  Blog us your thoughts here.

I think the DVD was a bad choice unless you include a DVD player because I am sure in 30 years they won't be around.
I am not sure at this moment what I would put in. I would have to think about it.

I know, we should put George W. Bush in the time capsule.

I would put in a newspaper from the day the capsule was made, pictures from various places around town and maybe some brochures from different banks telling the current interest rates and products offered, just to see how much things have changed when the capsule is opened.

I happen to like Georgenfla's idea myself so I second that option. Hmm, maybe put it on a flash memory stick thats waterproof. Just an idea... how long do flash drives last???

Ohhhh cuegurl has a great idea. Also maybe include pictures of members of the cast and their families, a comapny badge, and a picture from the first newscasters when channel 13 first went on the air.

For the time capsule? Why not ask people to pick a stock portfolio of at least 5 NYSE or NASDAQ listed stocks with an imaginary ten thousand dollars to invest.

About a year before the time capsule is opened, financial reporters would have a field day with speculating on what could have been in those picks. I.e. could there be a multi-millionaire out there as the result of a modest investment 30 years ago? Somebody may have picked the next Microsoft, the next Apple, or they may have just gone for the steady growth such as Exxon and some other blue chips.

Then again, someone may have loaded up on an Enron, Nortel or made an unfortunate choice like that company manufacturing plastic coffins.

A green card. They will be the thing of the past in 30 years.

How about the good old Bible??? It should be able to endure another 30 years.... 3,000 ( or so, give or take a couple 100 years) down. 30 more to go!!!!

Perhaps a copy of the proposed and failed Immigration Bill along with an English dictionary?
