Not sure if news or weather is right for this, but....

On the morning of 3/10/08 between 6-6:40 am, I was out taking pictures with my telescope of Jupiter in the e-se skies.  At one point I looked up to the south and a BIG red fireball crossed the southern sky, coming from the west on a downward angle, probably into the Atlantic ocean.  It burn an eerie red and did not burn out.

Does anyone know if this was a natural or manmade fireball?  I heard that there was a sattelite coming down and wondered if this was it?

Wish I had a shot of the fireball, I was taking pics of Jupiter when I saw it to the south, no time to turn the telescope that fast.

It might have been part of that Satilite the Government shot to pieces 2 weeks ago, that would be my only guess...

Thanks Brenda, Lex and Lady are their names.

I hope someone caught it BTBW! Too big for a "falling star" and it was kinda cool to watch as it burned red. I think Rotties on to something here, might have been some sattelite debris burning up and something in it made the red glow.

Still waiting for a cloudless morn to finish shooting Jupiter!
