Once upon a time there was a town called Orlando.

A mixed community with some inner city trouble.

So a group of citizens moved to outling areas or started them, like Pine Hills, Winter Park, etc.

Soon trouble flowed from Orlando into these nice to live communities and while one has earned a dubious nickname, the other is starting to.

Then some citizens of a town called Ocoee ran a nice place to live, away from the crime and murder and robberies.

The unwanted moved there and then one county school thug decided to move his very Letter F rated  school's trouble makers out to Ocoee, which is in another county by the way.

Now  that towns mayor is furious!

You cannot dispute these facts, you may not like them, but you cannot change the facts.

Remember- Those who forget history are DOOMED to repeat it...

That is not the full case Watcher. I have known people that grew up in PineHills and of different ethnic backgrounds and it was a really nice place, back in the day.

Ocoee, was considered more of a "hick town" back in the day but in the past 10 years it's been booming and doing well.

Winterpark...well, I have to agree there.

History is a wonderful thing and we need to know all the information not just what we want to know but what we need to know.

Now, I have to get back to filling out the paperwork for the officer here at my home. I was robbed! I live in Pinehills!

I agree Snake, Pine Hills was once a great place to raise a family. Evans USED to be primarily white, not black, back then as well.

I'm the last person anyone would accuse of being politically correct and I have many friends of different races, religions and different countries of origins so even though the race card has been thrown in my face, sorry, not a racist either.

Let's all be realistic and no matter how you feel about it, look at the facts.

Neighborhoods that receive and then attract certain people eventually go downhill and become crime ridden. Somebody please prove me wrong with at least 3 examples of where conditions improved or it thrived. Hello? Anyone? Ok, that takes care of that.

The mayor of Ocoee was elected to represent the people who live there, to act in their best interests. Already the area is being inundated with illegal aliens and yes, some merchants are hiring them at low wages, thus inviting more. Soon it will be a problem that they started and all have to live with.

Migration is normal and humans have done it throughout history. Sometimes without upsetting the native balance, but more often it's a catastrophe for the indiginent people living there.

Ocoee may have been a "hick" town as many call it, but what do they call Eatonville? C'mon people, it's primarily black, always has been so if you call a white, rural town "hicks", what is the nomenclature of a black town?

Again, political correctness hushes the masses.

If the people and mayor of Ocoee do not want a trouble school (Evans) relocating out there, so be i

If the people and mayor of Ocoee do not want a trouble school (Evans) relocating out there, so be it. School, shopping mall, power plant, what's the difference? It's that town's call and should be respected otherwise let's let Ocoee relocate their dumping grounds into downtown Orlando.

More aspects: Funny thing is we relocate schools and/or students all the time, and its IMO never for the benefit of the students. Oh no! FCAT scores are dropping! Quick, lets either re-zone or move the students and mix it up some so to protect the schools grade!

I remember having to ride a bus for almost an hour, passing by 3 other schools to get to mine. The kids on the other side of the street went to differnt schools as well.

Maybe its time to start cutting off Federal/State funds to cities and townships that can't control crime! The addage of the squeeky wheel getting the grease is tired now.. maybe its time to REPLACE the wheel all together!!

I have lived here for 63 years and Ocoee was known as a home for KKK type people. Pine Hills was white also along with Maitland.Winter Park was integrated west of the RRT's. Eatonville has always been black and maintain their blackness. Say it as it is and know the real Florida.

whats that sign used to say... Welcome to Ocoee where you dont want to be black after sundown.. or something to that effect...

The Evans students are not the bad ones in our neighborhood, it's the meadowbrook middle school students fortunately for us all most of them will be killed or never make it to highschool... And we pick on a poor teacher for getting after a kid that was probably trying to show her up.. PS I live about 3 blocks from this schools and I'd have no problem putting a bullet in one of their heads if needed.

dang, man, it's a toss up...which spreads faster, these low-class, thug neighborhoods that everyone wants to brighten up with pavers and fancy street lamps...or crab grass?

Mixing Evans students with any other students besides other Evans students will result in your child be left behind...or perhaps, robbed, beat-up and left behind....yeah, Ocoee's facing the cancerous growth of the inner city folk....

Actually, Evans was ALL white at one time. I went there in 1965-66 and there were no blacks in the school. Pine Hills was one of the nicer areas of Orlando and all was well with the world.
Ocoee is NOT in another county, it's in Orange and yes the sign was posted at the RR crossing and read as stated above.
When my sister got to Evans from Meadowbrook in 1967-68 the integration had begun, but there were still very few blacks at Evans. Phyllis Wheatley and Jones High Schools were still the black schools along with Wymore Tech in Eatonville.
Crime Hills is no longer a nice place to live, and Evans has become a very iffy school to attend.

I rest my case, thank you for all your comments, for saying what everyone knows, thinks, but are afraid to say for fear of jeopardizing their job or position.

For once a mayor is standing firm for his community.

The only question is who will be the first black politician to call him a racist?

Our country is going through a transition where you have to be 'careful' for what you say about undesirable heathens. It will change but until then people will have to kiss a lot of butts and swallow a lot of crap. GD America! Does that give you an indication of where we have gone in our efforts at giving people respect they don't deserve?

Regardless of all the issues they have made to be in priority, it all falls back on a race issue. I am a 30 yr old white male and it makes me sick how they are acting about it.

It truly seems so sad how a state known for its high drop out rates has towns like ocoee that dont want to chip in to help others. We are talking about our future here, our children, our new start. If it has to do with teachers having too many children to teach, then add more teachers. I mean is it really that much to ask?

they sit there and state so many issues, but were not talking about a product made in china. We are talking about CHILDREN and EDUCATION!! We are entitled to a fair trial in court, why not give these children a fair trial in education and a chance. Ocoee sickens me.

Stand up mister mayor, stand up parents, stand up schools! Let others have a chance regardless of their history because of demographic differences.

thanks

Off topic...Hey LuckyD....

Stats are stats, anyone see the black man from Pine Hills on Fox news stating that they need (Evans) to clean up their student's acts and not relocate their trouble elsewhere?

IF Ron Blockhead gets his way and moves his "F" school towards Ocoee, you'll see within 2-5 years the Ocoee schools drop in ratings and a crime increase.....meanwhile, The old Evans area will go on as usual....

Watcher - yes, I saw that many times, and he's right...moving it is just movnig the problems.

Chile707 - I agree with your post, however, the old saying, "Lead a horse to water...but can't make him drink..."

Well, until change comes from within themselves, from the black community, nothing's going to get better.

Until the decent folk stand up and say, "enough!" Nothing will change....crime, drop-out rate, pregnancy rate...you name it.

At 30, have you raised a teenager lately? That's microcosm (sp?) of what plagues the black community...they (not all) seemingly want to always find someone to blame for their woes, and come to their rescue. So, the man in "crime" hills, is correct.
