Another star ball player going to jail. MAN! What's the world coming too.

Michael Vick.(Win McNamee/Getty Images) Michael Vick surrenders to marshals three weeks prior to his sentencing on dogfighting charges.

Mr. Vick has accepted responsibility for his actions, and his self-surrender further demonstrates that acceptance.

Vick pleaded guilty in August to a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge after his three co-defendants pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with authorities.

He's scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10 on a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge but worked out a deal to voluntarily enter custody prior to his sentencing hearing.

Loosing a wonderful career over fighting animals. I don't understand this...  do we forgive and forget and give him back his 20 million advance on his contract... what?

Somebody explain it to me please....

Let's blog...

Vick knows that he's guilty as sin of abusing animals, he knows the Judge is going to hand him a hefty sentence and he turned himself in to look good in the eyes of the public and the courts. I don't for a second believe that he is remorseful about what he did, he's just bummed that he got caught. He belongs in prison with the rest of the scum. He doesn't deserve to have a red cent given back. Look at what he did with his millions. Did he help the homeless or support some charity? No. He raised fighting dogs and taught them how to kill each other so he and his pals could gamble on the outcome. He's a dirtbag. I hope he has turkey-flavored Alpo for his Thanksgiving dinner in the Big House.

"What's the world coming to"????????????

Say what? It's about time these neanderthal, uneducated , illiterate athletes be exposed for who they really are. You actually think that Michael Vick deserves a big golden star for turning himself in? He should be lucky he wasn't disbanded from the NFL altogether!

i agree with everything said.
i also think that if he does his sentence and stays away from criminal activity he should get another chance, just like all of us would excpect.people will never forget what he did,but people will forgive.

On the news today, Vick's boys got more time than the prosecutor requested. Seems He will get a lot of time too.

Why can't we just forgive people that make mistakes. We all do. Who here is without sin? I'm sure Mike is sorry about what he did to the dogs. He will serve 24 months for his crime. Hopefully he can be forgiven and start his life over.

Umm, well, I actually just forgive him. I have had a change of heart. We need to forgive people. Some people have forgiven murderers of innocent people so why can't we forgive Mike Vick?

If you feel the need to "forgive" him, that is your choice. He is still responsible for what he did and will have to serve his time, with or without your "forgiveness", he is guilty. I hope he learns something from this, and takes the opportunity that he is being given to make a difference in a good way. The dogs he tortured had no choices... so he should really count his blessings.

In a different blog on this subject I wrote… I don't understand how anyone, under any circumstance, could get enjoyment out of watching anything this violent and bloody being committed against any innocent creature of any kind. Those who participate in it, call dog fighting a "sport". For many generations the human race has dabbled in violent things that they like to refer to as a "sport". I think it helps them to justify their behavior if they focus on the competitiveness in calling it a “sport”, rather than seeing the brutality of it. I wish that every one of the humans that have ever had their hand willfully involved in these types of abusive activities could feel the pain and emotional damage that they have caused in others. If you have ever seen the movie “Powder” there is a scene where the “tough guy” of the movie is out hunting, and teaching a group of teenagers to hunt, they shoot a deer and run over to it, to watch it die. The character in the movie named “Powder” is also out in the woods and hears the shot fired, he runs in that direction, comes over to where they are standing and puts his hand on the deer, then reaches out and touches the man who shot it, the man falls to the ground crying horribly… because Powder made him physically and emotionally “feel” the pain that he had caused. The man that shot the deer then swears that he will never hunt again. I wish that type of experience for michael vick… more than anything else.

I know it can’t happen, but that is the only thing that I think would be just. I know that he will suffer financially and hopefully lose his football career, but if he suffers without the lesson being learned on a deeper level than financial… really feeling what he did, it won’t matter in the big picture how they punish him. Without the big lesson he needs being learned, he will only become bitter. I hope he learns how to feel emotions out side of his own head, the ones that exist in the beings around him. Until that is accomplished he is lost… just like oj.

You're right Shans... My grandfather went to jail many times in the old days for fight cocks.

Look at boxing, people make millions to knock each other silly to the point of no return. Look at Ali, who can barely take care of himself now due to all the punches he took in his head years ago... that's violent but people pay to see it like they paid to see BLEEP fights in the day.

sharyan,
What are you trying to say here? Your response makes no sense to me. I am alright or fine or whatever you want to call it, so what are you trying to imply?
FYI – The prosecutor asked for 18 months, and then the Judge gave vick 23 months, not 24.

Bellker,
I remember hearing my Grandpa talk about "chicken" fights also. I don't think he was much into it... but I think he went to see a few, back in Texas, in his farming days. Many things have changed since then, and I am glad that the general opinions are kinder and gentler now towards animals.
I agree boxing is another violent human "sport". Why is the human race so barbaric?
As far as Ali… it is really sad to see the condition he is in now. I wish him the best; he does not seem like boxing made him crazy angry like Tyson, but it handicapped him physically. It is so sad what some people call entertainment and the price that the “performers” have to pay, whether they are human or animals.
