Well, it's that time again, Thanksgiving Day..

How do you celebrate it?  What does it mean to you? If you don't celebrate it, why not?  Well, alright, ok, I'll go first:

To me Thanksgiving is a religious family get together holiday to give thanks. It's like cramming a year of Sundays together into one day and celebrating big with good food, good company and good music and some history discussion so that we always remember the truth and continue to pass it on to our children. So before the Entertainment and eating begins, the history lesson commences... Here's a short summary...

Historically speaking... My family taught us that this is a day that Native American review as a National Day of Mourning. Most children are taught that Native Americans helped the Pilgrims and were invited to the first Thanksgiving feast. This is not accurate. Traditional hospitality and generosity have and continue to be constant Tribal virtues to be practiced at all times. One of a series of feasts reaching back into the Native Americans’ memory seized upon by modern society is: The Wampanoag feast,  Nikkomosachmiawene or Grand Sachem's Council Feast.

It was because of this feast in 1621 (which is when the winter had killed most of the pilgrims) that the Wampanoags had amassed the food to help the Pilgrims thereby creating a new European tradition known today as "Thanksgiving Day.

But with the Europeans came smallpox, typhus, measles and other diseases to this continent. Native Americans had no natural immunity to these plagues. The Pawtnxet groups were totally wipe out. The Wampanoag was the next closet group. Twenty seven Native Americans were tricked on to ships by Captain Hunt and sold as slaves in Spain when Pilgrims (who did not call themselves pilgrams) and who did not come to America seeking religious freedom - they had that already in Holland. They came here as part of a commercial venture and one of the first things they did when they arrived in Cape code, before they made it to Plymouth was to rob Wampanoag graves at Corn Hill stealing much of the Indians' winter provisions - which is a desecreation and insult to their dead.

The Wampanoags who witnessed this, attacked and some were run off by guns but they returned later to pilgrams running and to get their guns leaving their tools behind.

The Natives took their tools and returned later with the tools and a Native American named Samoset (from Maine), a leader of the Wabnaki people. Samoset walked right up to the Pilgrams and said, "Welcome" in English. He learned the language when he was taken prisoner to England and sold into slavery in Spain. He managed to returned to the Plymouth 6 months before the Pilgrams arrived.

Pilgrams and Samoset talked. Samoset spoke of his friend Tisquantum (Squanto) who also spoke English as he was a prisoner as well and he spoke of Massasoit, the leader of the Wampanoag people.

Edward Winslow, a Pilgrim lied to Massasoit, saying King James wished to make an alliance and to another English  speaking native, Tisquantum - tricking him into signing a treaty which was heavily slanted in favor of the Pilgraims.

Wampanoags visted the settlements unarmed and all the neighboring nations were contacted by Massasoit believing they had a aliance.

TisquantumTisquantum, a Pawtuxet TAUGHT the Pilgrams how to plant, fertilize corn and other crops, where the best fish were and how to catch them in traps and many other suvival skills. Governer Bradford called Tisquantum "a special instrument set of God". The Native natiosn along the eastern seaboard practiced tribal spirituality, hospitality and generosity - an attibute to this day the fits the Thanksgiving Holiday

President Lincoln declared the last Thursday of November as Thanksgiving Day Text of Plaque on Cole's Hill    "Since 1970, Native Americans have gathered at noon on Cole's Hill in Plymouth to commemorate a National Day of Mourning on the US Thanksgiving holiday. Many Native Americans do not celebrate the arrival of the Pilgrims and other European settlers. To them, Thanksgiving Day is a reminder of the genocide of millions of their people, the theft of their lands, and the relentless assault on their culture. Participants in a National Day of Mourning honor Native ancestors and the struggles of Native peoples to survive today. It is a day of remembrance and spiritual connection as well as a protest of the racism and oppression which Native Americans continue to experience."

So this would be a good blog if I didn't at least tell you what's on the menu usually at our home... so here you go..  Turkey, Chicken dressing from scratch, Baked ham with pineapple sausa, mac and cheese, greens and neckbones (mustard, turnip, collars), corn bread, corn on and off the cob - fried and laid to the side, cranberry sauce, gravy, sweet potatoe pie and cakes all made from scratch including choc., pineapple upside down cake, coconut, and of course tall glasses of water, tea and lemon aid.

Thanksgiving to me is about family, a day to reflect on true history, reconnect with loved ones and remember just how much we have to be thankful for..

So share and share a like... Chat a minute with each other about this wonderful day and of course, let's blog about it.

In the first A v P, I was routing for the the Preditor... now I just want a better fight...

If you like monster pictures... this is the one...for you.  I suggest you not bring kids under at least 12, cause if the trailers are any indication of the violence to come, this may be a bit much for the little ones.

Why are we allowing our children to read the Harry Potter books or go to the movies when we know what the book represents and how it corrupts our children’s minds?

Now to add insult to injury, this JK Rowlings hits these young Harry Potter fans with a statement where one of the main characters, Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay.

My first comment was, SO! What! We care because! Aggghh!

Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the character while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall.

She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds "true love." This Author replies to this child, "Dumbledore is gay!" The crowd of children gasps and then applause. (Hence mixed reactions to this shocker!)

Clearly, not everyone likes her work, and Rowling acknowledges this, referring to Christian groups.

Christians and churches all over the world have OUTED these books and Rowlings as promoting witchcraft. That is exacting what she is doing. The books & films are banned in some countries.

Some kids dress like the characters from the round glasses to the gothic look of the witches and warlocks. Children do not always separate fact from fiction or fantasy.

To write about spells in a book and to recite the spells specifically, you have to believe in what you write, know how it works and commit it to memory. To put that in a book is reckless disregard for other people’s children.

Rawlings news about Dumbledore, being gay, according to Rawlings, will give Christians one more reason to OUT her as an author who promotes witchcraft.

A Shocker There….!!!!

I find Rawlings to be rude and inconsiderate. She is extremely wealthy off of our children's innocent attraction to her books & moves with no regard to their mental or emotional heath. She sued a high school for making paper artwork pieces of the school deplicted in her films, the school was going to use it as a halloween project. Greedy! She has millions that she can never spend with a castle larger than some cities.  The judge through the lawsuit out.

Now even more of her books will end up in a barn fire. Will you burn yours...

What’s your thoughts.

Let’s blog.

In Mobil Alabama.... this week,

An elderly woman, around 72 years old heard a noise that scared her right outside her door at her home.

She has a small single family home with a fence.

So she reaches over and picks up her gun, a pistol from her living room table and went to the back door where she heard the noise.

She opens the door, and DAYUMMMM,  a man is standing there in his Tighty Whities..., naken elsewhere...

Then, BAM!!! Without a minute's hesitation, Granny shot him...

Ole Boy is in the hospital. When he get's out, he'll be arrested for bugulary...

The man was homeless and was standing there using her washing machine to wash his clothes...

That's a news story for you.  I don't normally laugh at gunshootings, but that one took me way back in to a lean over laugh...

Based on a True Story...  “American Gangster” trailer was released this week. The film opens November 2, 2007. I'll be there....

Denzel Washington stars as Frank Lucas, an African American, about a real-life heroin kingpin from Manhattan New York who smuggled the drug into the country in the coffins of American soldiers returning from the Vietnam War in the 1970s.

Frank Lucas' moffia was bigger than all Italian moffias put together - as far back as 150 years.  The real Frank Lucas is still alive and in a wheel chair. Word is, he still makes the orders and was ordering people around as he gave advice for this film.

The film also includes an all star cast including Recording Artist T. I., Russell Crowe, Cuba Gooding Jr, Armand Assante, RZA, John Ortiz, John Hawkes, Ted Levine, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Josh Brolin, Common, and my all time favorite female actress, Ruby Dee, wife of the late Ozzie Davis - playing the mother of Frank Lucas (Denzel).

There has already been a bit of Oscar buzz surrounding this film, I look forward to seeing it. Seems like a great and intense crime film I think Denzel has done it again...!!!

Check out the trailer and let's blog....

Although Brittany may not see it yet, those with faith who support her and that are around her in a positive manner already do. It is called Faith 101 - One Step Beyond Belief.

You see, faith is an action. It is acting on what you believe. Many people confuse belief or believing with faith. Believing is a starting point, but if you stop there, you'll wind up with nothing. Brittany may have stopped, or perhaps you think she has stopped there and given up, when in fact she could be receiving help - and is regrouping. Who knows, so why guess?

Here's a popular example: A starving man being placed where food is and being asked if he believes that if he eats the food he will live. The man says yes, I believe that if I eat this food it will keep me from starving to death." But he never lifts a hand to eat and dies. What the man believed was true. If he had eaten, it would have kept him from starving. But he died from starvation. Why? Because he never acted on what he believed. Believing is right, but it will never change the circumstances. Faith will change the circumstances.

Faith is activated-by doing something, not only by believing something. If you have authority you have to exercise it.

Even if you are the boss or are in charge, you cannot sit in a position or in your office with authority and just think. You have to actually do something, say something, write something, or send something before any orders will be followed. That is action!

Some times as you take action, many are not aware of what you are doing, therefore, people like the press and celebrity haters write or say terrible things about you, saying such things as "she hit rock bottom" But they really don't know, do they, do you? No…

In faith, action must be involved. Healing is one of many results that will be attained. Thus, Brittany will be all right. You need not worry or concern yourselves with her.

People are missing key factors concerning faith. All around us some people act as if they don’t know what to do in a crisis. They fear that they won't receive any instruction. They act lost and turned out, hopeless. That is sad, as you can often times see it in their eyes. Many saw that in Brittany – or they at least thought they had. But many have stepped forward to help her. She will be all right.

Faith always produces results over time although we as humans sometimes want immediate results. Anything of value takes time, and so it is with the principles of faith. It is not a ripcord that you pull to bail you out of a problem. It is not a magic lamp that you can stroke and ask for 3 wishes.

You have to stay with faith. You have to make a commitment to the point that you can burn all the bridges down behind you. Can you do that? Are you trying faith, trying to see if it's really going to work? If you say yes, then right there is doubt, and it has already crippled them. You have to be completely and absolutely convinced that acting on the Word will produce results given time and commitment. How is your faith these days? Ask yourself.

Sometimes the misfortunes of some are lessons to others. Don't feel sorry for Brittany Spears, for this is something she does not need. Don't wish her harm or laugh at her sad issues going on right now. She will be all right.

Now, what about you... what are you going through? What have you learned from her mistakes...

Man...... I watched the cave man show tonight and it was

stupid

not funny

terrible makeup and hair

full of blonde bimbos

and had no beginning, middle or end...

They spent crazy money making that show.

I was so excited to see it.  I was disappointed.

I am a fan of the commercials which are funny as heck, man. Especially the first one when the Insurance Executive took them to dinner to apologize... It was great...

My second favorite commercial of the cave men was the one when they are talking out on the balcony and the 3rd one comes out and interrupts them to say he and Tina are getting back together..... The facial expressions told it all. I cracked up laughing when I first saw it...

But the show pales in comparison man. It really let me down...

Did you see it.... what do you think...
