Many in our Metro Detroit region & even around the nation ask the eternal question: Why won't Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm intervene in the Detroit Mayor issue? Gov, Granholm has stated time & time again she wants to wait for the wheels of justice to take their true course. Essentially, this is sound legal advice from our state's lawyers; But given the prime example of how New York Gov. Spitzer was removed from office for associating with a prostitute, it seems there are alot more reasons. Mainly a political one since this is perhaps the most historical Presidential election in our country's history. Not to mention the fact that when Mayor Kilpatrick & his mother, Carolyn Cheeks-Kilpatrick were both State Reps in Lansing, they catered to the Governor, also rumored to have discussed the downfall of Detroit & Wayne County-Which seems to be happening as Detroit spirals downward. Another reason seems to be basically in a statement on live local network news by Detroit City Councilwoman Barbara Rose-Collins when asked "Should the Governor intervene?". Her reply was that if Governor Granholm did intervene, there would be a substantial "riot & uprising". Michigan's lawmakers as well as the taxpayers need not let this type of mentality influence their decision to take action. As I have stated many times in these blogs, Detroit & the Metro area as a whole would never survive another riot like the one in 1967. Now is the time for Detroit to begin moving forward & now is the time for our Governor to realise that Detroit's Mayor & his corrupt government have impacted our state almost to a point of no return. It seems apparent that our Governor will stall until after the elections & even then, the intimidation & arrogance of Detroit's government seems to have a grip on her decision to act. Not to mention her party loyalty, showing that justice is indeed blind, especially when it becomes more political than judicial. Then again, the power IS in the hands of the city residents-But do they care about their city's future? Do they care that they foot the bills for this issue, along with countless millions of taxpayer dollars being funneled through the Kilpatrick family & "friends"? Do they care about their image & reputation not just locally but nationally? Time will tell & time is also running out.

Look there are plenty of people in the city of Detroit that don't agree with the mayor's antics. There will be NO RIOT or uprising. Barbara Rose Collins isn't the voice of Detroit. The only thing that's she ever done is steal money. I don't even know how she got back into office. As for the rioting, I think its starting to become the other way around. If he isn't removed from office, there will be a problem. Contrary to what you may think there are some people in this city who know what is going on.

I believe the Governor isn't going to do anything to remove Kwame, His mother has allot of power over the Governor and like Car said she is going to wait for Justise, Which we know aint gonna come, Kwame has the Court in his pocket and his Lawyers are up for the game and the longer they drag it out the better, cause the People will get sick of the long drag outs and loose interest, and he'll walk with the help of all his mama's and daddy's money not counting all the friends he has collecting City money from Contracts.

Granholm is a fence sitter. She wants others to make the decision and take the flack. When/if that happens she can say she was involved and tried and have a nice photo op to add to her scrapbooks.......LOL

Gbpdetroit-I can agree with you that there are alot of people who care & know what's going on but they are far-out-numbered by the Mayor's "supporters" & "followers" whose eyes are only open to the fact that he is an African-American Mayor who "can't do any wrong". If the majority of the people in the city & county REALLY cared, this circus would have been ended by now. The power IS in the residents' hands.

Well, this is a no brainer...They all have helped each other up the political ladder...Kilpatrick's and Grandholm...while the City of Detroit is circling the bowl, the Governor is afraid of a courtesy flush prolly because Momma Kilpatrick or KK has something on her she doesnt want to get out...who cares if they do have something on her...most have figured out she is inept as well so push the handle Jen and lets start putting this City back together...there are too many decent hardworking people suffering under this political quagmire

Granholm, will not do a thing. I am so sick of the whole mess. Now his mother just got back in office ,and next it will be Kwame. Are people that dumb, or are these elections fixed.

Actually, I believe that since Gov. Granholm announced she will head the Sept. 3rd case the Mayor has a former colleague & Democrat in his corner again. In this election year, the Dems have already made too many waves and bumping the Kwamster would make their dysfunctional party even more obvious. A shame that the wheels of justice are slowed by political favortisms. Note how Michigan & Florida were kicked to the curb early in the year, now Michigan is a second home to both candidates-Typical of two-faced politicians and Gov. Granholm fits that bill as many know.
