(CBS) "What if we told you the Pentagon has a ray gun? And what if we told you it can stop a person in his tracks without killing or even injuring him? Well, it’s true. You can’t see it, you can't hear it, but as CBS News correspondent David Martin experienced first hand, you can feel it.

Pentagon officials call it a major breakthrough which could change the rules of war and save huge numbers of lives in Iraq. But it's still not there. That because in the middle of a war, the military just can't bring itself to trust a weapon that doesn't kill."

If you are talking about the "heat ray" device, then it was developed under the guise of military uses; however, N.Y.P.D. L.A.P.D. and soon to a police force near can't wait to use these against Americans. Being that it is useless against someone with an A-K, our loving leaders have decided that this is a perfect tool to use against protesters. There is quite an arsenal of anti-crowd weapons that are designed to keep us in line; among such weapons are advanced incapacitating agents, electrical shock devices, laser, acoustic and high power microwave directed energy weapons. Tazer is either developing or completed Tazer mines. All of these are designed to keep the herd under control.

This thing has been around for 5 years. Works fine but as usual the military is resistant to change. It probably can save lives and would be usuful in the phony ass war we are now fighting. I'd rather find all the bad guys (we CAN do that) and kill them. That's how to fight a war.

I'd like to get one to use on my neighbors when they start heading to my house looking for a free hand out.

You know if we stop killing and start just stunning to keep people alive, how are we ever going to keep the worlds population down? I mean we created HIV/AIDS, and now you can live a full life with it. It helps make money off the drugs, so alot of people are happy with that, but it keeps the population up. The military are not going to switch to this weapon, simply because they have a job to do. Keep the population down.

The ADS or "Active Denial System" has been around for a while but it's really only good on a battlefield against marching troops. Who does that any more? It's a great system though but the perfect place for it would be on the Mexican boarder! After all, we don't want to hurt those people, just keep them on their side of the line!

mmustangg,

Your comment,
"It's a great system though but the perfect place for it would be on the Mexican border! After all, we don't want to hurt those people, just keep them on their side of the line!"

Sometimes pure genius comes from using an invention in its simplest application and in my opinion; your idea to use ADS for border security is pure genius. Sometimes common sense blinds those who constantly think outside the box, or in this case outside the border.

Thanks Joe!

I wouldn't use genius and me together but if you must, you must. *lol* Seriously, I just think if they deploy a few of these puppy's around the border, things might be a little different.

Before I sign out, here's another genius idea for you. Maybe put a few ADS at dangerous intersections? The signs would read "Run a red light get zapped!" You would see a lot more stopping on yellow then! *grin*
