Anyone read the full article in today's Trib?  Someone mentioned about the "de old...", "Wid my brudder... " , etc.   I don't know about you, but I never sang it that way... I said "the...", "With my brother..."  But the proposed change to one section really cracked me up... Change "Still longing for de old plantation" (What's wrong with the old Plantation?  It was a nice little town back in the day!).... to "Still longing for my childhood's station..."????  What the heck does that mean?  Station in life?  A train or bus station?  How about using... "Still longing for a peaceful nation."

Sen. Jim King, Jacksonville, stated that "The tune stays the same, but the meaning becomes totally nondemeaning to any race or religion or anything else."  Okay... change the Pledge of Alligience back to the way it was written... with the "under God" part.  As it is now it is demeaning to people who do not believe in A god, but do believe in their country.

We should change our national anthem because the words are embarrassing to the British for losing the revolutionary war. Yeh, let's not try to offend anyone and just hum instead of use words! We'll create a kazoo playing band to tour the country and play all these songs!

I'm suprised no one has suggested changing that line to...
"Still longing for some reparations"!!

Who ever sings past the 1st three lines anyway? I didn't know there were more!*lol*

tangers...I was going to work on the National Anthem next... after all, the music is from a pub song, sung by a bunch of drunks! Wait a minute... the anthem is sung most often at sports events... where people are drunk! Okay, I guess we have to let the national anthem stay as it is.

Take a look at my new pic... turn your head, if not your laptop or monitor so that the radar rain is on the top, and see if you see what everyone at work saw. In the radar loop it looked like it was walking!

I don't care who changes what at this stage of the game. I am 46 years old and I plan on singing the song the way it was always sung because it dosn't offend me and still plan on saying the Pledge of Allegience with "ONE NATION UNDER GOD" in it and if someone don't like it that's their problem not mine. I am not gonna change what I say or how it's said just because somebody else dosn't like it. This is MY country and I plan on doing exactly what I've always done no matter who dosn't like it!The solution to the problem is simple. If you don't like where you are or what's being said go somewhere else. It is a FREE country!

Janice... you missed the point of the Pledge... it was not written as you recite it. I am a few years older than you and I learned it in the original words. By adding "under God" is an insult to those people who came to this county for religious freedom... what this country is supposedly built on. I am not talking about the recent arrivals... I am talking about the founding people... those seeking religious freedom and founded this country on that belief. But, then again, this government has always been hypocritical.

My other passion is photography, mostly nature. Ever since experiencing my first hurricane in Florida, Cleo in 1964 when I was 15, when the eye went over my house, I have been fascinated with weather. I have a 99% accuracy... including predicting Charley's turn away from Tampa the night before he hit down south.
