We are in a dry season.... water and brain "wise" according to what I have observed.  Okay, I smoke.... but I use my ashtrays, including "pocket" ones.  Every day I come home from work to smell wood burning... people tossing cigs into flower beds.  At work I see people putting their cigs into the planters... instead of walking a few feet to use the ashtrays.  I saw 5 people toss butts from their cars on the way home today!   Last weekend I saw a guy at our Chemical Collection toss his cig into the grass!  Stupid that he was smoking in a car carrying chemicals dropping off chemicals in an area filled with chemicals... he gave me an argument when I told him to pick up his cig!   He picked up the butt when I called our deputy over.

People... use your brains!  Take the change out of your car ash trays and use the ashtrays.  Sorry if they get dirty.  Bar-b-gueing?  Let the ashes go cold, pour water on them... do not turn your grill over to empty the ashes until you know they are "dead".  Do not throw cigs out your window. or on the ground.  You might put an innocent family out of "house and home".  USE YOUR BRAINS AND THINK ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE!

Every time we get into the dry season I get worried. We live on a corner with a stop sign. I can not even begin to tell you how many cigarrete butts I pick up at that stop sign. One time I was lucky to be home because some genious threw a lit cigarrete into the dry grass and away it went. We could have lost our whole house because of someone being careless and not thinking before they threw it out. Now I am always wetting my grass at my corner. I can't take the chance that someone is gonna do something so careless and I might not be at home to save my home next time. I can't even count how many butts there are up and down that area. That is until I started cleaning up everyone else's mess. I don't even smoke. No one in our home does so they aren't coming from us. If everyone would just think before they toss those things it would help all of us. What if someone started a fire at YOUR house from a lit cigarette? How mad would YOU be? THINK BEFORE YOU THROW!!

Better yet, don't throw at all, at least until you are in a safe place.
Better yet, don't smoke at all. Why start "forest fires" in your lungs?

Jack... computer was "down" for a few days. Then, better yet... why drink soda?" "Why eat at BK and eat while driving"

Janice... if only people thought about a lot of things before they did them... The condo I live in... people are always throwing things on the ground. I was spanked if I threw something on the ground! Cig butts aren't the only problem.... people walking dogs, idiots eating at BK or McD's, etc.

The cig butts, even as a smoker, really gets me mad. We just had a "Greening" seminar where "Keep Hillsborough Beautiful" was a participant. They had 2 wonderful bumper stickers that I loved. One had "Every Litter Bit Hurts". The other one was about tossing cig butts.

I am an Environmental Specialist with Hills. Cty. Basically, I am a "dumpster diver". I also do a lot of educational graphics design about the proper disposal of household chemical & electronics, litter, etc. My hobbies are very diverse... golf and reading, with sci-fi, forensic mysteries, and history being my favorites. My other passion is photography, mostly nature. Ever since experiencing my first hurricane in Florida, Cleo in 1964 when I was 15, when the eye went over my house, I have been fascinated with weather. I have a 99% accuracy... including predicting Charley's turn away from Tampa the night before he hit down south.
