I just heard the Chiefs are thinking about selling the naming rights to the stadium, and I hate it.I  hope that after the passing of Lamar Hunt the Chiefs and their front office would continue to be an organization that shows the leadership and class that Lamar had,he didn't always do what was popular among the other owners, but he always did what was best for the team and the league, and that did not include selling out .I also think it would be an insult to us fans and this city, county, and state. To me it would be stating that we can be bought off like other cities,we need to take a stand and say NO!!!! We've already lost two of the greatest owners and people in proffessional sports, and one of the greatest ambassadors a city could have in Buck O'neil,we don't need to start losing  our cities identity by selling it off piece by piece,I mean like what's next, THE GATEWAY NEGRO LEAGUES MUSEUM ,THE NIKE LIBERTY MEMORIAL ?

Arrowhead stays in the name, only thing that changes is some company that pays big bucks to be able to put their name up there with it.

These are the times we live in. And how do you know Lamar did not consider this?

If he did consider it he most likely would have told the fans about it to get to see our reaction first being as it seems he genuinely cared about us.

I still call it sandstone....i still call it royals stadium.....i will always call it the grandview triangle...and i will forever call it arrowhead stadium. people dont have anything better to do than to change names of things that are just fine the way they are.

Lamar was a total business man who lived in Texas. He never asked the fans opinion. He did help a lot of organizations, but he was always about the bottom line. What bottom line? The bottom line between being inthe black and being in the red.

Yes he was a good business man he had to be especially when the Chiefs were losing mmillions of dollars from about 1974 to about 1989 because of their records (2-12,6-10 etc.),if it wasn't for the money he made from Worlds of Fun we probably wouldn't have an NFL team now.Plus throw in the fact he could have relocated the team to other cities namely Los Angeles and made millions upon millions more than he could here.As to the naming rights of the stadium he could have jumped on that bandwagon ten years ago and already made millions.Don't sell him short he was a very good businessman but he also was a good man that cared about this city and its people

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the county own the stadium? I think renaming it is the wrong thing to do. I also strongly feel it's time to kick peterson's *ss out of KC!

Jackson County does own the stadium but the fools who put together the lease agreement gave the Chiefs a lot of the control of the stadium when it comes to naming rights, revenue from other events like Big XII championship games etc. The county truly has very little control of anything that takes place there except giving the team money for upkeep and the new remodeling. This money goes to the Chiefs and not the county. What's so funny is they are saying that it is because they need to be competitive with large markets and find creative ways of generating revenue. What a load of crap. They are one of the more profitable teams in the NFL. This team is all about the P&L and not about the W's and L's. Here's to more average seasons and no championships for the Chiefs!

Hey, if they are going to make so much $$$ from "naming rights" why didn't they do that instead of soaking the Jackson County tax payers for additional taxes - again?? Where will the money go that they get for the "naming rights"? Who's pockets will benefit from that? I'm a big Chief's fan but this stuff really makes me sick. I voted NO on the tax because I figured they could come up with the money elsewhere. Where was the naming rights offer then? Hmmmm

I know Sprint is going to pay roughly $2.5 million for teh arena downtown per year. That amount only kicks in once they have a major tenant from either the NHL or NBA. It is about a third less without the major tenant. I haven't seen any dollar figures for the Arrowhead proposal but I think at this point they were entertaining the idea and there weren't any companies identified who are interested. The Chiefs will get the money in their pockets. There are certain things the teams have to share with the whole league like ticket $$$ and concession $$$ but things like parking, naming rights, suites and other revenue generators go directly to the team.

It is about time to dump a loosing team. Why support a team that the pee wee league could beat?

Over the hill and going up the next one,and after reading many of the politically motivated blogs here I just want to say,an airplane can't fly with just one wing whether it be right wing or a left wing it will just fly in circles like a dog chasing its tail.
