So do any of you have any thoughts on the "HOMLESS"?

I work in an area that has alot of homless people. They congregate  across the street from were I work. Alot of people see them on T.V. getting there tents rippped up, and everyone feels the need to come to there rescue like they are helpess animals in a wildlife park  having there habitat destroyed.  I've even read blogs on this site from people with nothing but compasion for them. I will be the first to say that I am well awear of the fact that there is such a thing as genuine mental illness. People who are deeply disturbed and need alot more help than our society is giving them. I personally know an older woman who's son of 43 has been on the streets his whole life, and it is heart breaking to talk to her about it.   And then there is the scum that I deal with on a daily basis. The flip side to that coin is the fact that there are plenty of able bodied criminals out there who just ain't worth a damn!  And there only objective in life is to get one over on somebody. They'd rather get caught shoplifting than get a job, and beg borrow and steal all the way through there worthless lives than to ever do the right things by themselves and us as a society. And you and I are the first ones they blame for everything that they have done wrong in there stinkin lives.Espcially when they get caught at there own stupid games. And plenty of em are plenty dangerous. So be careful before you get out and feed the bears.

 Thankyou, Chico

Yeah...The poor homeless people. We need to build them a permanent spot to camp. Then they can go tell all of their Ho-Bo friends that Florida is a gooder place to be than Green Acres. Then their Ho-Bo friends will tell their Ho-Bo friends that Florida is a gooder than gooder place to be than Green Acres! In the near future, the spineless city area governments can have a meeting and build even more permanent camp stations for the increased inflow of poor homeless people that are looking for a spot to squat. Meanwhile, the polititians that fear the loss of votes and the all mighty ACLU type wacko publicity eventually goes out of office leaving the foundation of a extreme problem that will be impossible to deal with and eliminate. You and I will foot cost in taxes, property depreciation, crime rates and alot vision of the poor homeless people going pee in the bushes. Yeah, The poor homeless people, HOW ABOUT POOR US !

The homeless better be careful.

They get on tv and say their are going to camp outside Mayor Bakers home until he deals with it and then wonder why their tents get slashed the same week? Hello. 'Permanent spots to camp' are being built. When all the detention centers are ready for business the homeless will get the help they need?

Process whom is afflicted with what and go from there.

They should have centers for child-molesters too. Perhaps one for the gang-bangers? Or will that be the Draft? Wanna shoot people? We got sand for ya to pound.

Some people want to live on the fringe.

Where it stinks is the families and Veterans.

There should be a viable option for people that do want to work and do just need a hand up. Not hand out.

Stuff does happen to decent people. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Perhaps charging them property tax for the property they are on. Heck, I have to pay, why not them? I have worked two and three jobs my whole life, raised a wonderful family by myself and paid for everything!!!!!!!! If mental illness is in the equasion, go to a mental institution. Everyone else, get a job!!!!! There is NO excuse for the mess they cause, the crime and indecent behavior. Seems they have enough money for drugs and alcohol. Sorry, no sympathy on this end. Thanks for the vent.

Send them across the bay to Ruskin - plenty of jobs picking tomatoes over here. Even better - make a deal with Mexico to trade them for people who want to work!

Of course Mexico won't take these bums! How about moving them to the Arizona border with a tent and cell phone and a one beer reward for every illegal they turn in!

Maybe we should ask Bruce Wright, pastor of the church leading the cause, what we should think and feel about the homeless. The equation was "care for the widows and orphans"; not take care of every guy that doesn't care to take care of himself.

Personally, I get a kick out of the homeless that stand in front of a BurgerKing or Walmart, (where there is plenty of work), and hold a sign, "Will work for food. God Bless." Then if you offer to buy them a $2 burger, then say no thanks, but I'll take the $2.

I have to add my two cents to this one. I was once upon a time homeless, and I had a really bad childhood. But I have never panhandled, I have never hurt someone, or destroyed peoples property.. just because I had a bad life. Anyone who is homeless, 90% of them are there by choice. They want to be out there and get free handouts. Just like people in prison usually want to go back cuz they get taken care of there. I agree to take them to Ruskin, Plant City and other agricultural areas. But that is hard work and they won't make it a day. When I got out of my homeless situation, I did work in the strawberry fields. We did have caucasians come out and they were so far behind the rest of the crew that we had to continually back up to pick up there one or two flats of berries a day.... where the average hispanic would pick 20+ ; and when you are getting paid per flat... well thats not gonna even buy a 12 pack. I have offered people food, and like Georgenfla stated, they don't want the food. They want the money. Ever notice how clean these homeless people are that are begging on the corners with a cardboard sign? Or take a look at the name brand shoes and jeans they wear? Most of them have told me that they make more than I do with a college education standing on the corner "playing homeless" to get donations.
So my sympathy is gone as well. I know that you can pick yourself up and dust it off and find a way to make your life acceptable by all society. Of course they can't afford housing, it would require to much money being pulled from their drug and alcoh

Wow! I feel realy sorry for all you really miserable, bitter, judgemental people. There is room in America for all types of people. Since the beginning of man there have been the fortunate and the unfortunate. If only the fortunate could see how lucky they are to be in that position. I know you are going to say that hard work not luck is how you get ahead. I know so many homeless people whom had it all. For one reason or another they lost it. Whether through a divorce, losing a job and not being able to find another one, a mental illness, losing a home, a long illness and a variety of other legitimate reasons why people become homeless. Live on the streets and try to get a job. What phone number do you give? How do you get cleaned up for work in the morning? Be real. This is a real problem that real people are experiencing from veterans to families to children. All real people. Walk a mile in their shoes.
By the way I would rather a man hold a sign asking me for money than hit me over the head and take my money. You don't have to give him money. I do, I need the good Karma!

POthed, the name says it all but I will humor myself here.

"I feel really sorry for all you really miserable, bitter, judgemental people"

Miserable? Most of are not and have planned financially to prevent that.
Bitter? Oh yeah I'm bitter. I have volunteered hundreds of hours to Homeless Causes. Seen homeless put back on their feet, only to have a huge percentage revert back to their "old ways". Its easier, no responsibility.
Judgemental? I would say yes. The fact remains allot of the homeless have put themselves in that position through poor education and financial decisions and unfortunately mental illness. The first two I am judgemental, on the latter, I wonder how the "system" let them down.
I grew up poor (makes Coal Miners Daughter look like the Donald Trump story) and in one of the worst childhoods a kid could have had.
Instead of laying in self pity and having the "whoa is me" attitude, I made a decision to fix it so I or my future wife and children would never experience such hardship. Now we live comfortably and I still volunteer for charities dealing with the "less fortunate".
Be careful of labels....they don't always stick.

P.S. It would be nice if we all did love one another. The world would be a better place. :-)

I understand where you are coming from fish247 but don't agree. You speak of its being someone's own fault if he has poor education and mental illness. I can't agree there. You are what you are raised to be. Fortunately you had a righteous upbringing. But imagine if you hadn't. And by righteous I don't mean wealthy of money but of spirit. You still give to causes like you said. So you are doing the right thing. But criminalizing being homeless by making camping illegal. And assuming every homeless person is scamming the public is wrong. I'd rather help 10 people and reach 1 who really needs it than to never help that 1 at all. There will always be people taking advantage of their position. Whether it be a homeless person with a sign who really doesn't need the money or CEO's and government officials who are taking huge bribes and kickbacks. I'd rather lose my dollar to the homeless guy than the millions that government and corporations rip me off for. I just want a better world for everyone, not just those who can afford it.

Everyone loving one another is the only way we are ALL going to make it through this chaotic world today. We all can try harder to be more tolerant of people different from us. It takes all kinds to make a world.
