As a resident of Parma, I'd like to see this man resign as well. However, he is not the full reason I voted against the levy this time. One main reason is that two years ago, Parma put a levy on the ballot indicating that if it passed, they would not ask for any more for at least 5 years! What a lie!
My child attends Parma High and I saw that there was no difference whatsoever in the quality of education, books, teaching or otherwise after the last levy passed. I don't believe the funds were used the way we were all told. My child still doesn't have books from every class to bring home to do homework.
My biggest complaint is, why in the world would Parma High School need FIVE (yes, count them) FIVE Principals? I don't know about the other two high schools, but I know that Parma has five of them, along with many other administrative personnel. From what I can see, the "head" principal does nothing that a principal SHOULD do. When I attended Parma, we had a Principal and an Assistant Principal - that's it! The school ran quite well and our principal EARNED her salary by doing what a principal should do.
So, besides getting rid of Kelly who obviously is living far better than most of the residents, let's also take a look at the number of unnecessary administrative people at the high schools. These levies are supposed to help the students, but I never see that happening. I see these admins get their fat raises, live the good life and cause all sort of corruption and display a lack of concern for the students.
You need funds? Start cutting out some of these unnecessary high paying positions and put the money into where it should be - the kids' education!

I don't know how many of you are avid "readers" are out there, but you still might be familiar with some of his work. Michael Crichton died Tuesday at age 66 battling cancer. I just found out this morning. I've read many of his books and personally feel he was truly one of the best authors out there. Here's a blurb from one of the news stories citing some of his most familiar work:
"Many of his future history novels have medical or scientific underpinnings, reflecting his medical training and science background. He was the author of The Andromeda Strain, Congo, Disclosure, Rising Sun, Timeline, State of Fear, Prey, and Next. He was also the creator of ER, but most famous for being the author of Jurassic Park, and its sequel The Lost World, both adapted into high grossing films and leading to the very successful franchise. He also co-wrote the screenplay for Twister."
It's pretty sad when the world loses such a talented individual as Michael Crichton. My heart goes out to his family and friends and the world of readers who will greatly miss him.

Well, as was suspected for a while, now, America made its choice for President. I sincerely hope it was the right choice for everyone's sake. I do hope Obama will do something for this country on a more positive level and follow through with his campaign promises so that later on down the road, those who didn't vote for him won't come back and say "I told you so."
My hat's off to the victor of this election and despite my reservations, this country will have my support as long as promises are kept. Please, Obama, don't prove some of us right by backing down on your policies and promises! Bring back our economy, protect our land and make this country into what you believe for the best interest of everyone here. Please make everyone proud.
Congrats!

Nope, this isn't about who won for President. I can't say much since I didn't vote for either candidate in the Presidential Election, but rather, voted independent. I can only say one thing for the results of the Presidential choice - that I was not responsible for whatever may happen to America over the next 4 years!
Anyhow, this is an inquiry as to why people have this need to consistently vote in Kucinich! What is it with this guy? He's worthless! I cannot believe he's in again! To me, this is the biggest disappointment of the whole election that people are that stupid and gullible to vote this jerk back into office for yet another term. I can assure you that nothing will change for District 10. It will continue on just as it has been, with nothing resolved to make it a better district. One thing I can say positively about this, though, is that with a Democrat in the Presidential Office, there won't be any need for Dennis to waste time and money in 4 years to run, again.
But, on the lighter side, at least the Parma School Levy failed! Those top-paid board members certainly don't need any more money in their pockets for their fancy homes, vacation homes and all of the other luxuries that have been used with the taxpayers' funds!

I think this sums it up for those of us with the intelligence to know what's about to happen in this Country:
The little red hen called all of her Democrat neighbors together and said, 'If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?'
'Not I,' said the cow.
'Not I,' said the duck.
'Not I,' said the pig.
'Not I,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did.
The wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.
'Who will help me reap my wheat?' asked the little red hen.
'Not I,' said the duck...
'Out of my classification,' said the pig.
'I'd lose my seniority,' said the cow.
'I'd lose my unemployment compensation,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did.
At last it came time to bake the bread.
'Who will help me bake the bread?' asked the little red hen.
'That would be overtime for me,' said the cow.
'I'd lose my welfare benefits,' said the duck.
'I'm a dropout and never learned how,' said the pig.
'If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination,' said the goose.
'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen.
She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, 'No, I shall eat all five loaves.'
'Excess profits!' cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi)
'Capitalist leech!' screamed the duck. ( Barbara Boxer)
'I demand equal rights!' yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson)
The pig just grunted in disdain. (Ted Kennedy)
And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities.
Then the farmer (Obama) came. He said to the little red hen, 'You must not be so greedy.'
'But I earned the bread,' said the little red hen.
'Exactly,' said Barack the farmer. 'That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.'
And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, 'I am grateful, for now I truly understand.'
But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the 'party' and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.
Bread became scarce and the price tripled
Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared...so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' were paying for.
EPILOGUE
Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs.
Hillary got $8 million for hers.
That's $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years, repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn't remember anything.

I don't watch the games all the time because I'm not a big fan and my husband sure turns me off with his yelling, screaming and swearing. Today, however, I bit the fullet and decided to watch it with my husband (despite the foul language and hissy fits) and frankly, I think the biggest problem with the Browns is Andersen! The man seems to disintegrate the second half of the game. And, shame on Romeo for just sitting there not doing a thing. I did not see that man do anything the whole second half other than carry a grumpy look on his face.
C'mon Romeo - didn't you hear the chants of the fans? They were TELLING you to put in Quinn. I mean, we already blew the game, so what did we have to lose by playing him? Afraid that he'll show up the boy you have such a hard on for? Yep, I'm convinced that Romeo has a thing for Andersen.
Cleveland gets a bad enough rap of everything else from the high crime rates to the corrupt politicians. Why can't the Browns at least give us something to be proud of?

Okay, I'm ready to rip my phone out of the wall! It has rung non-stop for the last 3 days soliciting this election and it's driving us nuts! Yesterday, I counted about 18 calls just for the election alone! Most are pre-recorded, so you can't just pick up and tell whomever to quit calling. I have had some which I've answered just to tell them to stop! The majority, though, we've not answered (thanks to Caller ID) and have let the machine pick up.
The most annoying subject of the calls? It's all about Obama - vote for him, support him, yadda yadda yadda! I have not yet gotten any calls to support McCain and only a handful for local issues. I'd say 90% of the calls are for Obama. I'll tell you, even if I WAS originally planning to vote for him, this weekend would have certainly changed my mind. It is such a total turn-off to be consistently pestered by these calls that seem to be pouring in non-stop.
Yet another reason why I cannot WAIT for this election to end! I'm tired of being bothered by the numerous phone calls!
UGH!

This time, it's not in retaliation against Obama or McCain, but against Dennis Kucinich. Anyone in his district must know by now that after all these years, this man is worthless. How in the world has he made it this far? He is a waste of a political seat. ANYBODY has got to be better than this man who has proved to me and my family on a personal level that he truly doesn't care about us "little guys." This man is always saying he's there for the people. Well, guess what? Like most politicians, he lies and sweet talks his way into office every election. He's a loud-mouthed talker who doesn't do the walking. Look, he wasn't even here in defense of the National City fiasco!
Can anyone tell me what, exactly, this man has done for Cleveland? He certainly was not an impact for DFAS - he just made a lot of noise during that fiasco. I know - I have "insiders" on that issue. We are the one of the poorest cities in the nation and what has he done to rectify that? Not a thing. He's too busy sitting on his rear collecting his fat paycheck, reaping the benefits of his position, and sticking his nose where it really doesn't belong.
I used to think he was something, but the last several years have made me second guess my feelings on him. And then, after his little stunt this past year, I really was convinced this man is garbage and not worth the taxpayers' dollar.
So, when you vote and if he's on YOUR ballot, please get him out of office already! This man has accomplished nothing during his time with Congress other than blow off hot air, waste time and money running for an office which, sorry to say, he will NEVER win because the rest of America sees that he's a loser - a joke - and a blowhard.

Dear Mr. Obama:
In seeing how you aim to give a tax break to people who make less than $250,000.00 a year - oh, wait, I just saw where you lowered it, sorry.
For those people who make less than $200,000.00 a year.... Oh, wait again! I think I just heard it was lowered once again by you. Would you PLEASE make up your mind already?
Okay, let's try this again....
For those who make less than $150,000.00 per year in giving tax breaks per your plan, but you will increase taxes for those making over whatever amount you FINALLY decide upon, does that include all members of Congress? I mean, I think one of the lowest paid people in Congress is Nancy Pelosi at a whopping $600,000+ per year. Are the members of Congress going to have to endure higher taxes like the business owners, self-made millionaires, etc.? Or, are they exempt from your plan. I am certain you won't include your millions of self-worth into this factor, will you?
Oh, yeah, and about those actors and professional sports players who make millions a year........

The below was written by my cousin (through marriage) who has really hit some good points regarding this whole election. Again, I'm not saying I'm for McCain, either as I still plan to vote independent, but "Phil" certainly has done some deep thinking on Obama's issues.
Before voting, please read and consider these points. Senator Obama is running on a platform of "Change." Before you vote for "Change," do you know what this will really bring? Here is exactly what it means:
1. Obama said he wants to "redistribute the wealth." When challenged, he stated, "I stand by what I said." Is that socialism? Add to this his
2001 interview indicating that the courts had not gone far enough in redistributing wealth and you get a consistent and disturbing picture of Obama.
2. Obama claims that his tax increases will not impact 95% of America. But look again:
. Capital gains tax - If you have a 401K, a pension, a self direct
IRA, etc. YOU are the target of Obama's tax increase (no matter how much you make). Your retirement is about to be poorer, no matter who you are! Did you know this? Has he been honest with you?
. Obama will bring the death tax back. After capital gains, Obama wants another tax bite before your children get anything.
. Obama's tax plan calls for "tax rebates" to the 40% of tax returns who pay $0 in taxes already. That's right, he wants to take money out of your pocket and give it to someone else!!
. Yes, he says he will only tax people making over $250,000. In fact, he wants to punish the "rich." The problem is that the rich are the people who hire you and me. Without the rich, all we will have left is a government handout, because the jobs will be gone.
. He says his tax programs will not affect 98% of small businesses. What he does not tell you is that the overwhelming number of jobs created by small business are from the people he will tax. Do you think those people are going to try to streamline to save their income? Will this create more jobs or eliminate jobs?
So, is this socialism? Clearly, the answer is yes! Obama wants French style socialism, where 14% unemployment and 50% of the population relying on government handout is the norm. Is this what you want? Is this what you want to leave to you kids? Is this what you want for your retirement?
Socialism destroys jobs, so even if you get to have to government steal money from other people to give to you, the bad news is you are worse off, as you run a good probability of not being able to find employment. Is job destruction going to help fix the current economy?
3. All of Obama's new promises will cost over $800 billion!! He claims he is going to cut more than he is going to spend. Have you ever heard one specific thing he is going to cut? NO! So, he says he will bring the troops home from Iraq, but he is going to send many of them to Afghanistan.
So, maybe he gets $50 billion from this. Where is the other $750 billion?
Even if all the troops were pulled out of Iraq and none sent to Afghanistan, by the most aggressive estimates, this would only save $124 billion annually. Where will the other $676 billion come from?) If it looks like a lie, and smells like a lie...it's a lie!
4. If Obama is President, there will be no balance left in government and the country will take a hard turn to the left, exerting massive controls on everyday life. Why?
. Obama is the most liberal Senator. The House and Senate headed up by the very liberal Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi will also be very liberal. Legislatively, we are about to take the biggest turn left in the history of the country.
. The Supreme Court will also take a decided turn left, as retiring
justices are replaced.
So, what can you expect from a completely liberal government:
. Much higher taxes.
. More government handouts.
. Substantially more regulation in every phase of your life.
. Fewer jobs.
. French style socialism (14% unemployment, 50% of the population receiving government aid, while the other 50% pay all of the taxes).
. A country where hard work and accomplishment is punished.
. A country where lack of achievement is rewarded.
Is this what you want? If you are voting for Obama, is this really what you think you are signing up for? If you think I am trying to scare you, you are right. I am. Why? Because I am scared to death! Scared for my own retirement, but mostly, scared for my children and the country of limited opportunities, and limited freedoms we are about to hand them.
Please vote for John McCain. He is not young, he is not pretty, he is not even charismatic, but he is the only chance we have for the future.
Please share this far and wide. Please share this quickly. Please share this with people who might change their mind when faced with the facts. Please stand up and get active in this last week. Go to www.johnmccain.com and do something. Obama has a huge war chest. McCain does not. "We the People" must make the difference.
Thank you for considering this. If you are somehow offended by this, my apologies.
Phil

Don't know if you have seen this, but this is a sign of things yet to come, I'm sure, if Obama gets in to office. I may not be a supporter of him, but I certainly wouldn't wish his demise from these demented individuals in this country, either! No human being should have their life ended by someone who is as sick as these two individuals are. Also, he does have kids and I certainly would hate to see those little ones be without their dad! But, unfortunately, I do believe the violence will only get worse if the outcome of next week is as we all pretty much know it will be! It's rather scary!
Assassination plot targeting Obama disrupted
WASHINGTON – Law enforcement agents have broken up a plot by two neo-Nazi skinheads to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 88 black people, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives said Monday.
In court records unsealed Monday in U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn., federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school in a murder spree that was to begin in Tennessee. Agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.
Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of ATF's Nashville field office, said the two men planned to kill 88 people, including 14 African-Americans by beheading. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.
The men also sought to go on a national killing spree after the Tennessee murders, with Obama as its final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.
"They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama," Cavanaugh said. "They didn't believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying."
An Obama spokeswoman traveling with the senator in Pennsylvania had no immediate comment.
The men, Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman 18, of Helena-West Helena, Ark., are being held without bond. Agents seized a rifle, a sawed-off shotgun and three pistols from the men when they were arrested. Authorities alleged the two men were preparing to break into a gun shop to steal more.
The two men were arrested Oct. 22 by the Crockett County, Tenn., Sheriff's Office. "Once we arrested the defendants and suspected they had violated federal law, we immediately contacted federal authorities," said Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce.
Attorney Joe Byrd, who has been hired to represent Cowart, did not immediately return a call seeking comment Monday. Messages left on two phone numbers listed under Cowart's name were not immediately returned.
No telephone number for Schlesselman in Helena-West Helena could be found immediately.
Cowart and Schlesselman are charged with possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer, and threatening a candidate for president.
The investigation is continuing, and more charges are possible, Cavanaugh said.
The court records say Cowart and Schlesselman also bought nylon rope and ski masks to use in a robbery or home invasion to fund their spree, during which they allegedly planned to go from state to state and kill people.
For the Obama plot, the legal documents show, Cowart and Schlesselman "planned to drive their vehicle as fast as they could toward Obama shooting at him from the windows."
"Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt," the court complaint states. "Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt."
Cavanaugh said there's no evidence — so far — that others were willing to assist Cowart and Schlesselman with the plot.
He said authorities took the threats very seriously.
"They seemed determined to do it," Cavanaugh said. "Even if they were just to try it, it would be a trail of tears around the South."
The court documents say the two men met about a month ago on the Internet and found common ground in their shared "white power" and "skinhead" philosophy.
The numbers 14 and 88 are symbols in skinhead culture, referring to a 14-word phrase attributed to an imprisoned white supremacist: "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children" and to the eighth letter of the alphabet, H. Two "8"s or "H"s stand for "Heil Hitler."
Helena-West Helena, on the Mississippi River in east Arkansas' Delta, is in one of the nation's poorest regions, trailing even parts of Appalachia in its standard of living. Police Chief Fred Fielder said he had never heard of Schlesselman.
However, the reported threat of attacking a school filled with black students worried Fielder. Helena-West Helena, with a population of 12,200, is 66 percent black. "Predominantly black school, take your pick," he said.

Celebrated British Columnist Goes on the Record

Is America Really Going to Do This?
Is America really going to do this?
Friday, 24th October 2008

The impact of the financial crisis on the American presidential election has somewhat obscured the most important reason why the prospect of an Obama presidency is giving so many people nightmares. This is the fear that, if he wins, US defences will be emasculated at a time of unprecedented international peril and the enemies of America and the free world will seize their opportunity to destroy the west.
Personally, I don’t give any credence to the ‘support’ for one candidate over the other that has been expressed by the enemies of civilisation (Iran and Hamas ‘support’ Obama, while an al Qaeda blogger ‘supports’ McCain). Their agenda is simply to sow confusion and promote American recriminations and disarray. Nor do I set much store by many of the remarks made by either candidate during the latter stages of this election campaign, since under this kind of pressure both will now say pretty much anything to win it. The New York Times has run a useful analysis of the candidates’ foreign policy campaign statements which shows how Obama has carefully tacked to the ‘hard power’ agenda while McCain has in turn nodded towards ‘soft power’.
No, the only way to assess their position is to look at each man in the round, at what his general attitude is towards war and self-defence, aggression and appeasement, the values of the west and those of its enemies and – perhaps most crucially of all – the nature of the advisers and associates to whom he is listening. As I have said before, I do not trust McCain; I think his judgment is erratic and impetuous, and sometimes wrong. But on the big picture, he gets it. He will defend America and the free world whereas Obama will undermine them and aid their enemies.
Here’s why. McCain believes in protecting and defending America as it is. Obama tells the world he is ashamed of America and wants to change it into something else. McCain stands for American exceptionalism, the belief that American values are superior to tyrannies. Obama stands for the expiation of America’s original sin in oppressing black people, the third world and the poor.
Obama thinks world conflicts are basically the west’s fault, and so it must right the injustices it has inflicted. That’s why he believes in ‘soft power’ — diplomacy, aid, rectifying ‘grievances’ (thus legitimising them, encouraging terror and promoting injustice) and resolving conflict by talking. As a result, he will take an axe to America’s defences at the very time when they need to be built up. He has said he will ‘cut investments in unproven missile defense systems’; he will ‘not weaponize space’; he will ‘slow our development of future combat systems’; and he will also ‘not develop nuclear weapons,’ pledging to seek ‘deep cuts’ in America’s arsenal, thus unilaterally disabling its nuclear deterrent as Russia and China engage in massive military buildups.
McCain understands that an Islamic war of conquest is being waged on a number of diverse fronts which all have to be seen in relation to each other. For Obama, however, the real source of evil in the world is America. The evil represented by Iran and the Islamic jihadists is apparently all America’s fault. ‘A lot of evil’s been perpetuated based on the claim that we were fighting evil,’ he said. Last May, he dismissed Iran as a tiny place which posed no threat to the US -- before reversing himself the very next day when he said Iran was a great threat which had to be defeated. He has also said that Hezbollah and Hamas have ‘legitimate grievances’. Really? And what might they be? Their grievances are a) the existence of Israel b) its support by America c) the absence of salafist Islam in the world. Does Obama think these ‘grievances’ are legitimate?
To solve world conflict, Obama places his faith in the UN club of terror and tyranny, which is currently fuelling the murderous global demonisation of Israel for having the temerity to defend itself and is even now preparing for a rerun of its own anti-Jew hate-fest of Durban 2, which preceded 9/11 by a matter of days.
McCain understands that Israel is the victim rather than the victimiser in the Middle East, that it is surrounded by genocidal enemies whose undiminished intention is to destroy it as a Jewish state, and that is both the first line of defence against the Islamist attack on the free world and its most immediate and important target.
Obama dismisses the threat from Islamism, shows zero grasp of the strategic threat to the region and the world from the encirclement of Israel by Iran, displays a similar failure to grasp the strategic importance of Iraq, thinks Israel is instead the source of Arab and Muslim aggression against the west, believes that a Palestinian state would promote world peace and considers that Israel – particularly through the ‘settlements’ – is the principal obstacle to that happy outcome. Accordingly, Obama has said he wants Israel to return to its 1967 borders – actually the strategically indefensible 1948 cease-fire line, known accordingly as the ‘Auschwitz borders’.
Obama would thus speak to Iran’s genocidal mullahs without preconditions on his side (the same mullahs have now laid down their own preconditions for America: pull all US troops out of the Middle East, and abandon support for ‘Zionist’ Israel) but has said he would have problems dealing with an Israeli government headed by a member of Israel’s Likud Party. In similar vein, it is notable that Obama opposed the congressional resolution labelling the Iranian Revolutionary Guards a terrorist organization, which passed the Senate by a wide margin with support from both parties. And had he had his way, there would have been no ‘surge’ in Iraq and America would instead have run up the white flag, with the incalculable bloodbath and strengthening of the jihad that would have followed.
Obama assumes that Islamic terrorism is driven by despair, poverty, inflammatory US policy and the American presence on Muslim soil in the Persian Gulf. Thus he adopts the agenda of the Islamists themselves. This is not surprising since many of his connections suggest that that the man who may be elected President of a country upon which the Islamists have declared war is himself firmly in the Islamists’ camp. Daniel Pipes lists Obama’s extensive connections to Islamists in general and the Nation of Islam in particular, and concludes with this astounding observation:
Obama's multiple links to anti-Americans and subversives mean he would fail the standard security clearance process for Federal employees. Islamic aggression represents America’s strategic enemy; Obama’s many insalubrious connections raise grave doubts about his fitness to serve as America's commander-in-chief.
The hatred that these Islamist connections entertain towards Israel is reflected amongst Obama’s own advisers. With one notable exception in Dennis Ross, whose late arrival in Camp Obama suggests a cosmetic exercise designed to allay alarm among Israel supporters, his advisers are overwhelmingly not only hostile to Israel but perpetrate the loathesome canard that Jews have too much power over American policy.
The former Carter adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, for example, not only denounced Israel’s war against Hezbollah thus:
I think what the Israelis are doing today [2006] for example in Lebanon is in effect– maybe not in intent – the killing of hostages
but also supports Mearsheimer and Walt’s notorious smear that the Jews have subverted America’s foreign policy in the interests of Israel. Merrill McPeak, vice chairman of Obama’s campaign and his chief military adviser, has similarly blamed problems in the Middle East on the influence of people who live in New York City and Miami (guess who) whom no ‘politician wants to run against’ and who he says exercise undue influence on America’s foreign affairs. Most revolting of all is Samantha Power, a very close adviser whom Obama fired for calling Hillary a ‘monster’ but who says she still expects to be in Obama’s administration. Not only has Power has advocated the ending of all aid to Israel and redirecting it to the Palestinians, but she has spoken about the need to land a ‘mammoth force’ of US troops in Israel to protect the Palestinians from Israeli attempts at genocide (sic) -- and has complained that criticism of Barack Obama all too often came down to what was ‘good for the Jews’.
There are, alas, many in the west for whom all this is music to their ears. Whether through wickedness, ideology, stupidity or derangement, they firmly believe that the ultimate source of conflict in the world derives at root from America and Israel, whose societies, culture and values they want to see emasculated or destroyed altogether. They are drooling at the prospect that an Obama presidency will bring that about. The rest of us can’t sleep at night.

This guy has asked the same questions I have about Obama. I’m not saying that I am a full supporter of McCain - I plan to vote independent because I don’t really care for either party - but I certainly am NOT in support of this Obama character who, I believe, will be a huge mistake to this country if he gets in to office! I only hope that if Obama does get in (and early counts show that he has a good chance of winning), I don’t have to tell these supporters “I told you so” when this country goes to hell. And, by voting independent, I won't have the "guilt" that I was partly responsible for voting either of these dopes into office.
By the way, whether or not this "cut-n-paste" was truly written, I am posting it because I have pondered upon so much of what is stated in this, so I don't want to hear the crappp about e-mail forward, blah, blah. This is just simply my questions for which I was unable to put in words, but this did it all.

Subject: FW: A letter from Ilinois
Dear Friends:
My name is Joe Porter . I live in Champaign , Illinois . I'm 46 years old, a born-again Christian, a husband, a father, a small business owner, a veteran, and a homeowner. I don't consider myself to be either conservative or liberal, and I vote for the person, not Republican or Democrat. I don't believe there are "two Americas " but that every person in this country can be whomever and whatever they want to be if they'll just work to get there and nowhere else on earth can they find such opportunities. I believe our government should help those who are legitimately downtrodden, and should always put the interests of America first.
The purpose of this message is that I'm concerned about the future of this great nation. I'm worried that the silent majority of honest, hard-working, tax-paying people in this country have been passive for too long. Most folks I know choose not to involve themselves in politics. They go about their daily lives, paying their bills, raising their kids, and doing what they can to maintain the good life. They vote and consider doing so to be a sacred trust. They shake their heads at the political pundits and so-called "news", thinking that what they hear is always spun by whomever is reporting it. They can't understand how elected officials can regularly violate the public trust with pork barrel spending. They don't want government handouts. They want the government to protect them, not raise their taxes for more government programs.
We are in the unique position in this country of electing our leaders. It's a privilege to do so. I've never found a candidate in any election with whom I agreed on everything. I'll wager that most of us don't even agree with our families or spouses 100% of the time. So when I step into that voting booth, I always try to look at the big picture and cast my vote for the man or woman who is best qualified for the job. I've hired a lot of people in my lifetime, and essentially that's what an election is - a hiring process. Who has the credentials? Whom do I want working for me? Whom can I trust to do the job right?
I'm concerned that a growing number of voters in this country simply don't get it. They are caught up in a fervor they can't explain, and calling it "change".
"Change what?", I ask.
"Well, we're going to change America ", they say.
"In what way?", I query.
"We want someone new and fresh in the White House", they exclaim.
"So, someone who's not a politician?", I say.
"Uh, well, no, we just want a lot of stuff changed, so we're voting for Obama", they state.
"So the current system, the system of freedom and democracy that has enabled a man to grow up in this great country, get a fine education, raise incredible amounts of money and dominate the news, and win his party's nomination for the White House that system's all wrong?"
"No, no, that part of the system's okay we just need a lot of change."
And so it goes. "Change we can believe in."
Quite frankly, I don't believe that vague proclamations of change hold any promise for me. In recent months, I've been asking virtually everyone I encounter how they're voting. I live in Illinois , so most folks tell me they're voting for Barack Obama . But no one can really tell me why only that he's going to change a lot of stuff "Change, change, change." I have yet to find one single person who can tell me distinctly and convincingly why this man is qualified to be President and Commander-in-Chief of the most powerful nation on earth other than the fact that he claims he's going to implement a lot of change.
We've all seen the emails about Obama's genealogy, his upbringing, his Muslim background, and his church affiliations. Let's ignore this for a moment. Put it all aside. Then ask yourself, "What qualifies this man to be my president? That he's a brilliant orator and talks about change?"
CHANGE WHAT?
Friends, I'll be forthright with you I believe the American voters who are supporting Barack Obama don't have a clue what they're doing, as evidenced by the fact that not one of them - NOT ONE of them I've spoken to can spell out his qualifications. Not even the most liberal media can explain why he should be elected. Political experience? Negligible. Foreign relations? Non-existent. Achievements? Name one. Someone who wants to unite the country? If you haven't read his wife's thesis from Princeton , look it up on the web. This is who's lining up to be our next First Lady? The only thing I can glean from Obama's constant harping about change is that we're in for a lot of new taxes.
For me, the choice is clear. I've looked carefully at the two leading applicants for the job, and I've made my choice.
Here's a question - "Where were you five and a half years ago? Around Christmas, 2002. You've had five or six birthdays in that time. My son has grown from a sixth grade child to a high school graduate. Five and a half years is a good chunk of time. About 2,000 days. 2,000 nights of sleep. 6,000 meals, give or take."
John McCain spent that amount of time, from 1967 to 1973, in a North Vietnamese prisoner-of-war camp.
When offered early release, he refused it. He considered this offer to be a public relations stunt by his captors, and insisted that those held longer than he should be released first. Did you get that part? He was offered his freedom, and he turned it down. A regimen of beatings and torture began.
Do you possess such strength of character? Locked in a filthy cell in a foreign country, would you turn down your own freedom in favor of your fellow man? I submit that's a quality of character that is rarely found, and for me, this singular act defines John McCain .
Unlike several presidential candidates in recent years whose military service is questionable or non-existent, you will not find anyone to denigrate the integrity and moral courage of this man. A graduate of Annapolis, during his Naval service he received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross. His own son is now serving in the Marine Corps in Iraq . Barack Obama is fond of saying "We honor John McCain's service...BUT...", which to me is condescending and offensive - because what I hear is, "Let's forget this man's sacrifice for his country, and his proven leadership abilities, and talk some more about change."
I don't agree with John McCain on everything - but I am utterly convinced that he is qualified to be our next President, and I trust him to do what's right. I know in my heart that he has the best interests of our country in mind. He doesn't simply want to be President - he wants to lead America , and there's a huge difference. Factually, there is simply no comparison between the two candidates. A man of questionable background and motives who prattles on about change, can't hold a candle to a man who has devoted his life in public service to this nation, retiring from the Navy in1981 and elected to the Senate in1982.
Perhaps Obama's supporters are taking a stance between old and new. Maybe they don't care about McCain's service or his strength of character, or his unblemished qualifications to be President. Maybe "likeability" is a higher priority for them than "trust". Being a prisoner of war is not what qualifies John McCain to be President of the United States of America - but his demonstrated leadership certainly DOES.
Dear friends, it is time for us to stand. It is time for thinking Americans to say, "Enough." It is time for people of all parties to stop following the party line. It is time for anyone who wants to keep America first, who wants the right man leading their nation, to start a dialogue with all their friends and neighbors and ask who they're voting for, and why.
There's a lot of evil in this world. That should be readily apparent to all of us by now. And when faced with that evil as we are now, I want a man who knows the cost of war on his troops and on his citizens. I want a man who puts my family's interests before any foreign country.
I want a President who's qualified to lead.
I want my country back, and I'm voting for John McCain .

I don't know if any of you have had this issue, but apparently the changes that Fox made to their blog sites has really done a doosie on me. I can be scrolling through a post and that stupid Fox logo with the links and stuff that NORMALLY should be at the very bottom of the page seems to be up about half-way to the top of the page. This hinders reading some of the blogs and responses, as well as being able to post a response to some if it is over the "comment" section.
Anyone else having this problem?
