Two hundred and thirty some years ago, our founding fathers set forth a declaration that soon emancipated this land in which most of us so proudly stand on, from the stronghold of the British Empire. No taxes, freedom from central rule and the pursuit to find happiness, were all amongst the ideas on which they built America on. They were to set forth a democracy, where elected officials represent commoners and pass laws and legislation that would improve the quality and the meaning of life for it's constituents. But, today we are faced with the same dilemmas as our fore-bearers fought the British to overcome; heavy taxes, poor welfare of the people and a powerful central government. America has had a major war every 20 years since it's birth. Genocide has been committed over her. Slavery had been brought upon her. She has been over industrialized and stripped of natural resources. Her water contaminated and animals pushed to extinction. This country has faced lies, deception, and greed and based on what we see, is at it's breaking point. It is up to the people to rise to the chance and take back America from our corporate rulers. It's our time now to take back what is ours from politicians.

This entire country is shattered by Democrats and Republicans and demoralized by political contests. All politicians; conservative or liberal, pro-life or pro-choice, are lying, thieving and immoral. ALL OF THEM. America is quickly falling apart. The saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well, America is broken and lucky for all of us, it can be fixed. We just need the right man or woman or animal or whatever it takes to fix it. Americans keep turning a blind eye to what is really important; the welfare of our people, no matter the heritage or background.

I love my family and I love where I live, but part of my responsibility of being American is to put forth my effort to make my community, my state and my country a better place. We have to start somewhere; somehow.

Think of how short life is. 70 years? And what do we do? We go to school. Pay Tax. Charge up our credit cards. Then Work. Pay tax. Take out a loan and buy a house. Drive. Pay Tax. Go to Disney World. Pay Tax. Further and further into debt. Maybe retire. Work at Wal-mart until we die. Pay more tax. Pass along debt to our kids. And that is only the tip of the iceberg. Why do we so strive to work so, so hard and not get any closer to our goals? If you don't pay tax on the land your house is built on, it gets taken away! Your own house that you supposedly own, is taken away!

What kind of place do we live in? We are taxed for everything!
Food. Gas. The air we breathe (clean air tax, seriously!), the roads we drive on (plus the tolls), state tax. income tax. social security tax. sales tax. school tax. The list goes on forever! And what do we get out of it? Dirty air, tainted food, hormonal water and no medical care.

Sounds like someone has a big mess to clean up in Washington. Where will our representatives be when we really need them? Yeah the democrats talk a lot, but nothing gets done. The republicans are too preoccupied in corporate America, so they manage to get something done, just the exact opposite people are asking for.

Not only that, where else could Americans go? Our money is worth near didily-squat and where our money is actually worth something, we may not be so humbly welcomed, seeing as most people hate Americans.

Who will come to our rescue with just our economic crisis? I'm willing to put forth my part. Where are my other fellow Americans? Speak out!

I can tell you what part of our problem is. We have thousands and thousands of illegal immigrants over here that don't belong here getting benifits that are supposed to be for AMERICANS THAT BELONG HERE. It's not fair that they can come over here and ride around in new cars and buy new houses and do it all with hardworking legal Americans money. We pay taxes and they turn around and get our tax money to buy their food and their childcare and their medical care when we all sit here with taxes going higher and higher with nothing to show for it. And they come over here and don't even want to learn the language of the country they're in. THAT'S whats' wrong with our country. And politicans do nothing about it. They want to fix our country then make it equal for all of us not just some of us. And if you are here because you earned the right to be here then great if not then leave. Why should the rest of us pay to support you?

where elected officials represent commoners

This is your quote and this is, in my opinion, the beginning of the problem. How can an elected official represent me, a commoner, when THEY have never been one. Have you seen the figures that all of the Presidential hopefuls make? I won't see that kind of money in my life, my kid's life and probably my grandchildren's life. A true commoner can not afford to run for a President, so regardless of any political siding, it is a world of have and have not's. Remember when raising minium wage was going to kill the economy???

As for Governemt assistence, it is funny because we were talking about this at work just this afternoon. I work within a community that is VERY diverse and a lot of first generation Americans. Just today we had a non English speaking couple come in, nice car, nice clothes. a Gucci purse- no kids and a food stamp balance of $700.00. Ok, I thought Food stamps were to help buy food, not buy ALL of your food. I have a family of six and that amount of money would go a VERY LONG WAY!!!!!!!!

Don't forget that Mel Martinez made it possible for immigrents to get medicaid, go to the Florida web site and you can see it for your self, it is sad because I was born here, pay my taxes and can't afford health insurence and here is a bit of food to think on, you can now get specific credit so that you can get your teeth fixed.

I will always be proud that I was born and raised in America, that I am an American, but it does spin the brain to think of what we have become. No one will come to our rescue, we l

It is sad to see what the country has become. I too am American born, lived here all my life, my dad a war veteran, my mom lived here her entire life and the only person that qualifies for insurance or medicare is my dad, only through the VA, which my dad had to fight to get. Even now, politicians are trying to cut veteran benefits; John McCain of all people, has voted against veteran benefits for more than a decade! The man himself was a POW in Vietnam! It just goes to show you how politicians are. I have so much to say on this issue and could go on for hours, but unfortunately I think my hands would fall off from typing so much.

America used to be a place where you could come and start a wonderful life. You bought a house, started a family, had one or two cars, could afford health care and maybe even make enough money to save for a rainy day. This has slowly disappeared over time partly due to the people we have in office making all the decisions and partly because nobody has the guts to stand up and send all these illegals back where they come from. They come over here and think they are entitled to all the benifits of a born and bred American and most of them can't or won't even speak English . Because the goverment pays for all of them it is costing us millions in American taxpayers money and all hardworking Americans are taking money out of their families wallet to put in theirs. Then we have gas prices at almost $4.00 a gallon and they ride around with taxpayers money to put gas in their cars and SUV'S. And we wonder what is wrong with America. The men that make the decisions have NO BACKBONE AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! Somebody needs to wake up and pay attention in Washington. Hello? Anybody home? Guess not!!

To be fair, you cannot put all that blame on illegal immigrants or legal immigrants. If we get into that debate, everyone that lives in america today is or has late decendants of immigrants, with respect to American Indians.

Where blame does lay however, is with the government. The government has failed us. We have turned a blind eye to Washington and corporate America. Time to pull the plug. Time for change. T
