The places where the kids could get help were closed under Engler. I am talking about Lafayette center, Phoenix House and other's. Sadly there isn't enough room to house all the kids let alone money to try to rehabilitate them. Why were these programs cut....simple most don't vote and at least not as a group.

What's wrong? It the political correction, the PC, that refuses to allow a parent to take a misbehaving child in a store and spank them for not listening. It's the scum sucking, bottom feeding, lawyers and prosecutors that are so full of work that they'll trade a crime for a jail sentence. Its the scaredy ass judges who cower in fear instead of taking the role to give a sentence and don't allow swapping bad time in prison for good time. It's the Gov's, the Legislators and the rest of the criminal system that has rolled over on their backs and are now hiding in their shells like fat ass turtles. Money buys alot these days, and that includes the legal system.
That's why KLAMMY went to Texas and only got a tongue lashing from a friend, and who is now running around Big Mac with his $1200.00 designer suits. Funny, but money buys influence.

I completely agree with the devils and gbp. I have worked as a police officer in Detroit for almost nine years and have witnessed some of the biggest B.S. deals go down. The judges and magistrates of 36th dist. are a joke they are so worried that they won't get elected back into the office by the citizens that they try to be the forgiving lienent ones. The DPD make more than 100,000 arrests each year! Many of the arrests are the same people doing the same crime. We don't have a three strike policy or progressive escalation of jail time. I have heard a man convicted for auto theft for the fifth time get a sentence of DOUBLE LIFETIME PROBATION!!! I am not joking what the HECK is that!?! This guy was caught stealing cars five differant times and served no jail time. I have caught a certain individual breaking into cars at the amtrak station on woodward and baltimore three times in the same week! I arrest him he goes to court in the morning he gets a personal bond(no money paid) he goes right back to the cars. I arrest him again two days later same thing. It really bothers me when the media and some of the public blame the police for the high crime rate. We go out and get these criminals,but they are released faster than we can finish the paper work. Granholm cuts sentences for non violent drug offenders! How does she think they control thier territory? WITH VIOLENCE! I cannot wait till she leaves. I hope Justice can be served to Kwame and all the co-conspiraters Police chief included.

Cops are nothing more than revenue collectors for the cities they work for. they walk up to you with their chests all puffed out with bad attitudes treating people like they are inferior while hiding behind their badge and gun knowing that most people will just sit and take the abuse because they are talking to a cop and people just want to go home to their families.

13six- It has to be quite a job being an honest cop in the DPD arresting the same fools over and over for the same thing. Double life probation sounds like a skit a 2nd rate comedian would use.

I remember the recent story of the Warren cop who wrote well over 5000 tickets in one year and half were just for rolling stops at stop signs. The rest of his time he spent in court.........getting BIG overtime.......and of course the city getting big money for all of those hefty fines......

Then right outside headquarters the news team recorded the cops breaking the same law over and over and over.........LOL Wonder if any of them got tickets and had to pay fines? Somhow I don`t think so.

If cops were spending their time arresting real criminals instead of hiding behind signs to catch a working man doing 55 in a 50 then the courts would not have so many cases to hear. The courts would be freed up to handke cases involving real criminals. But of course we all know someone stealing a purse or committing a burglary will have less of a chance of having bail money or money for a hefty fine. the cops and the cities understand they will make more money pulling over and harrassing the average joe working for a living than they will arresting a crack head. its all about revenue, cops are there to protect money and to create revenue. Read your history on police in America and why the police force was created in the first place. Yes there was a time when there were none.

Another speed trap is in Ann-Arbor on Main street. As you come down the street at a particular point the speed limit is 35 then the road dips to a downhill run for a given distance but at the bottom of the hill the speed limit changes to 25 and unless you live there you do not know that. A cop sits next to that sign in a parking lot like a humgry little spider waiting for his next victim. They know that under the laws of physics that a car will gain speed going downhill so they put a sign at the bottom of the hill 10 miles an hour less than the one at the top of the hill. You tell me that is not a sneaky little game.

I agree with you on almost everything. This part is the only part I disagree with you on:

What justification is there to outlaw drugs? Budweiser isn't killing children in drive-bys. There is no rational justification for prohibition in a free society. What is a crime by your definition? By my definition a crime is the violation of the rights of others, to kill, violate, or steal from another (the rights of life, liberty, and property). By what right would you deny somebody drugs, and which drugs would you deny somebody? Which vices are you willing to use force, coercion, and violence to deny others? Drugs? Smoking? Fast food? Prostitution? Promiscuous sex? Refusing the hijab? What standard would you use to decide which freedoms should be waged war upon by our own government and perhaps more importantly, who gets to make those decisions? Do you get to make the decisions about which types of freedom are acceptable and which are not? Is it put to a vote? Should Dearborn be able to vote to jail all women who refuse to wear the hijab, who show the vice of daring to show their hair and face in public? Should other surrounding cities force women to NOT wear the hijab, to uncover their face and hair because women degrading themselves is seen as "immoral?"
