First of all, Mayor Cockrel, I am very pleased with your decision in selecting two outstanding and honorable men:  Saul Green and James Berren.   Great beginnings.

I am a Probation Agent who works very closely with the Detroit Police Department.  I am sadden that Dwight Hudson who was the Deputy Chief at the Western District chose to retire.  Mr. Hudson is one of the most honorable men I've ever met in my life.  I am writing this letter to you, in part, to welcome you as the City of Detroit's Mayor, but also to let you know that I am also very disappointed that Mr. Hudson was given a choice to be demoted or retire.

I'm telling you that it is my opinion that of the many people I've had the pleasure of working with throughout all areas of law enforcement and not just Detroit, this man is without a doubt and hands down, a wonderful human-being who really cares about the citizens in the City of Detroit and took his job very seriously.  Mr. Hudson is a gentle giant who will be missed.  It has been my experience in working with him, that public safety was paramount.

I only know Mr. Hudson on a professional level.  I believe that not having this man on your team is a huge mistake but will be a tremendous loss to the City of Detroit.  Because of DC Hudson's professionalism, I'm so sure he will do well anywhere he goes.

And Mr. Hudson, if you are reading this, please know that it has been a pleasure working with you, and you are the GREATEST!  May God continue blessing you!

I love God so much. Additionally, I love my family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. You know what I try not to do? I consciously make efforts in not taking any of these people for granted. Life is so short. If I could change the world, I would end ignorance. If I could change the world, I would end hunger. If I could change the world, I would end poverty. In my new world, people would take responsibilty. People would not be mean. In my world, there would be equality, justice, love, and righteousness. Life is short. I'll work on me and try my very best to be a beacon of light. Will I be perfect? Nope, I'm just a work in progress with strong opinions.
