Here's the scoop.......

This morning on the way to work I am sitting behind a lady at the intersection of Sand Lake Road and OBT, light is red.  She is putting on makeup and the light turns green.  Traffic starts moving, she's still sitting there, I'm stuck behind her because she is trying to finish up her mascara.  I very briefly beep my horn as a courtesy to her to let her know the light is green (this was about 2 seconds lapsed time).

This appears to piss her off because she starts creeping forward, very slowly.  She never speeds up to the speed limit (before this incident she was speeding), which is 45 MPH.  She is going about 30 - 35 MPH and will not speed up past this point.  Not only holding me up but other drivers as well.

So at this point I am ticked off because of her rude behavior.  I put my hand on my horn and leave it there until I have the opportunity to pass her, which is about 4 seconds.  As I pass her we give each other dirty looks (and whatnot...... ;-) ).

Once I pass her up, I notice her getting out her cell phone to take a snapshot of my license plate, I guess she then proceeded to call and report me for aggressive driving.

Am I so wrong for only wanting people to respect the roads and traffic laws?  Why should I have to put up with some idiot who disrespects eveyone around them by doing things that SHOULD be outlawed in the first place.  I feel like the victim in this case yet I'M THE ONE WHO'S WRONG????  What's up with people??

I am not an aggressive driver.  After I passed her I went the speed limit, didn't make any unusually quick lane changes or anything and used my turn signal for every move I did make.  So here I am, Mr. Aggressive Driver.........give me a break.

My driving record is completely clean, no points, no tickets, and I haven't had a ticket since about 1992 for speeding, that's IT!!!  I'd like to see HER driving record.

What do you guys think?????

I think that most of the drivers..are just tired of living. The other day I was driving through a school zone..lights blinking..20mph. A little car comes flying by at @ 45mph. Of course, I layed on the horn. As I met her at the next light I rolled down the window..and I wasn't nice. I said "that's a school zone you just flew through...she flipped me off and starting ranting etc. I was like...how is it my fault that you can't read english (or speak). So, I feel your pain..I think we should set up devises so when you run a light or speed..etc...you're car gets paintballed by an automatic machine. Then everybody will know that you're a law breaker.

Yeah, the paint needs to be some horrible color that would stand out. Maybe different colors for different infractions. Run a red light....boom, red paint. cell phone...boom orange paint. cut me off...boom,yellow paint. The cops can issue citations based on the colors of your car.

But what happens if the PAINT matches your car color? Then what? I think photo's are the bext idea and I do shoot video from my vehilve sometimes, so beware.

But I'd have done the same thing, only I WOULD NOT have been as polite with a brief honk if she was still sitting there putting on her makeup! I would have LAID ON THAT HORN UNTIL I COULD PASS HER! Agrressive yes, but it really p.o.es me when idiotic women think they have time to put on makeup at a traffic light, then sit and finish AFTER it has turned green to MOVE!!

Seems like every time I give someone a honk because they are too busy to watch the light and go when it turns green. They ALL give the the finger and slow down to aggravate me even more. I can't figure out why some people have to be evil. Oh, I took a cell/phone picture of a big bird through my windshield because it was so beautiful and the glass reflected back and I could not get the picture..FYI

Yeah, that stuff ticks me off too. I'm great at dirty looks. But, life is too short to worry about those morons.

The main thing I don't get, is that my first beep of the horn was very brief (a "toot" if you will). I wasn't thinking about or considering the thought of trying to be rude at all. She was then immediately upset at ME because I was just trying to let her know the light was green.

What a piece of work.

Same exact thing happened to me the other day gewhite3. Some lady in front of my putting on make up but she was driving at the same time as putting it on and that caused her to go slow and build traffic. I was so upset that I felt like just bumping into her car and messing up her makeup. I do have a little bit of road rage.

I am aggresive, but not stpuid. I keep both hands on the wheel and yes i usually go 5 miles over the limit. I do my make-up at home, and I eat my breakfast once i get to work. People have little consideration anymore for anyone but themselves. Last night on the way home on I4 i was going about 70 once I got cleared of the jam up that always happens. And some latino as#hole was tailing me so close I could not even see the front of his hood. So I kept going at about 70, and he got even closer trying to pass me up in front of a semi. As he got closer, the car in front of me slowed and I slammed on my breaks (a bit harder with him behind me so close). Normally I am pretty calm and patient when it comes to people until they start tailing me so close going so fast. The idiot could have gotten hurt bad if that semi or me or someone else would have made a mistake. People just don't think anymore. In such a hurry to get home until that one night someone messes up and others aren't paying attention. I wish everyone would wake up when they are on the road. I see people everyday reading, painting their fingernails, make-up, brushing their teeth, and numerous other things while their vehicle is moving including cell phones. I have become rediculous when other people have my boy on the road. I make them call me when they leave with him in a car, and when they return. People laugh at me, but I think it is relatively reasonable.

Honking just let's them know they've got your attention. Get the tag number and report them. There's allot of RUDENESS about on our roads! You do have those who don't or can't read the signs or even care too, HOW RUDE!

Dear ordinary Central Florida guy. Life is too short to sweat the little stuff. Bet you've been steaming about this all day. :)

It takes two to tango! A lot of road rage incidents start this way. A "toot" of the horn, a finger, another response, and two furious dummies on the side of the street fighting.

Another scenario. A "toot" of the horn, a finger, another response, someone displays a gun "in fear for their life", the other calls police to have them arrested. Both waste their day writing paperwork. Over what?

The "toot" was okay. The finger was an expected response from an ingnorant person. A waive and a smile on your part would have ended the situation. You would have had a much better day. Don't worry, be happy!

Don't sweat the little stuff!

By the way, How do you feel about First Amendment Rights to Free Speech?

I agree, a wave and a smile in response to the finger leaves that person hotter, and there's nothing they can do about it but stew. Meanwhile, you're on your way.

after my " toot" a waive and a smile would have followed, i dont think she would have gotten upset then or you either for that matter

I know I didn't really elaborate on exactly what the "whatnot" was, but I did not give her the "finger". I mouthed a few choice words at her.

On the other hand, she was PO'd the instant I "tooted" and was using her vehicle to display her dismay at my "toot", the situation deteriorated from there and lasted a total of maybe 10 seconds.

I can see why a wave and a smile would have upset her even more, but it sure felt good to mouth those words.

People won't stop doing stupid crap while driving until it's outlawed, and even then some disrespectful idiots still won't stop doing it. I guess it's a losing battle.

Yes, you were getting too agressive. People always seem to minimize their involvement in an incident, so...perhaps you left the part out about cutting close to her car...or that you were right on her bumper blowing the horn...

i totally agree with you. once you get on that road it is time to keep your mind on the road. in the past few years, we have gotten our highways increased from two to three lanes, they stillllllllllll drive in the fast lanes. this is so annoying and yes they call us aggressive. i have no tickets, i been stopped a couple of times, but no tickets, no accidents, no overcorrecting. give us credit
