The IRS and Bankruptcy

Yes, now we have a situation. Where the bankruptcy doesn't get you the IRS will. I watched a company go under and file bankruptcy. They lost everything that allowed them to earn a living. In the mist of all this the IRS seized their accounts so they couldn't pay the people who worked for them. It wasn't that they were not trying to pay their taxes it was that with very little work and workmans comp, unemployeement, wages, social security, insurances, and general upkeep they simply had no money.

The IRS being the nice people they are seized the work accounts and personal and left them nadda to work with. Luckily a freirnd loaned them enough to pay their employees but they have no money for themselfs. Now I love our country but there comes a time when you have to ask yourself what are they thinking?  If you can't pay your bills and keep your company going then why not starve you and put you on the street? They know you can't collect unemployeement because you owned the company.

So we all go blissfully on our ways and keep electing the same morons who use our taxes to support illegals, special intrest, and themselfs while hundreds of people lose their bussiness and their homes, and end up where? I love my country but maybe it is time for a house cleaning and new laws and a good look at the IRS. Not to worry it wasn't me and alot of you can say that but have you looked around at the new faces in town? They don't speak english and they have alot of jobs that belong to us.

The IRS is the AMerican guesteppo and has been for years. People have died as a result of IRS machinations, yet they go on and on.

We need to have a flat tax rate and disband the IRS. How much does the government lose each year payaing the hordes of IRS people? How much does it spend printing the sheaf of papers they send out every year? All we need is one form that says "Prove how much you earned" and "Send us 10%". That's it.

My husband is a small business owner and I can tell you, if it weren't for all the employment taxes and employee expense, we could hire two more people.

Agreed, Missnancy. The IRS even has its own private army, the ATF.

Why we put up with it is beyond me. It's fractional slavery.

I think their motto should be, IRS: We've got what it takes to take what you've got.

The truth of the matter is 15% of all you earn is taxes and yes we elected the morons by electoral votes. and so sorry I typed youd and it should be you'd. Am I correct?

No, you are not correct. 15% of all you earn is taxes is quite erroneous. As a business owner, I am in the 3% tax bracket, and because of that, get audited every year. But that's ok. Many large businesses have set up shell corporations off shore to escape all taxes. This is currently being looked at and they're trying to close those easy outs. Since Bush was elected the tax burden has shifted to individual taxpayers, (middle class) from the corporations. I believe the percentage quoted was in the 78% range to the 30's.

There aren't too many morons elected by electoral votes. It's not senators, mayors, congressman, school officials, state senators, state congressman. Those are still elected by popular vote. It may only be the President and Vice President.

Most businesses (75%) fail. Usually because of a lack of an effective business plan, bad product, marketing(illiteracy), idea,capital shortage,fraud, downturn in the economy, or specific market conditions, i.e. fuel for trucking companies and airlines. 98% of businesses fail that are started by graduates of the KCMO school district.

Or congresswoman? Usually it refers to the House of Representatives. But the full congress can be construed to include the Senate.

It is usually referred in context as "write your congressman." But I suppose if you see two of them in a car it would not be wrong to say "congressmen." No one would notice if it were spoken.

It is out of my realm because I only go up to fifth grade spelling. That government class is taught in middle school.

15%? ARE YOU SERIOUS? 15% ??? That's ALL you think we're being taxed?

Figure in the hidden taxes, inflation, and liabilities and you'are at about 50% - 60%.

You know over half the country is employed by the government, don't you? Of the other half, 30% are probably on some form of assistance or other. The remaining 20% of us have to pay somehow or other.

Very true, so....work harder,faster, smarter, and make a lot of money to pay taxes, there's a lot people on welfare depending on you.

Or...find a bunch of rentals, turn them over to Sect.8 welfare and let the gov't pay you.

The gov't is the largest employer, the one with the best benefits, and they print all the money everyone else uses.

Wonder if my daughter's stiumulus check has arrived. She's in a zero tax bracket (student) but made just enough to qualify for the $300.00. Talk about something for nothing.

Are you including social security matches in you business taxes spellcheck as well as property and profit income? And a business can fail that was doing great if the market they are in begins to slide and the few jobs out there are being done by companies who hire illegals and can underbid. Sometimes it is outside the scope of the person running it.

The point is, how do you live if everything you have is taken away and you have no money, no home, and nothing to go to work with? How do you pay people if the IRS can sieze all your bank accounts? I can see taking so much a month but to take not only the business but the personal as well? How does that seem just? If you are out to cheat the IRS it is one thing but if you are just trying to make it month to month? Also last year this company earned twice what it did this year with less deductions and had money owed to them. This year they owe over $40,000.00 with a loss that took them into bankruptcy. Go figure.

Gini- the IRS does the same thing every tax collection agency in the history of the world has done. They intimidate and make examples of people. They don't care if they ruin one life. They figure they HAVE TO, cause if they don't nobody will pay.

There would be a REVOLT tomorrow if everyone had to sit down at the end of the year and write out a check for his taxes.

People don't see all the taxes they pay. They just think their take home pay is their real pay.

I am a reformed democrat now republican and mother of 5, have 10 grandchildren and one greatgrand child. I have lived all over the US and love to sit on docks and fish. Waiting for the big one. I love my family and a good joke, reading and painting. My siblings all think I need to be taken care of as do my children and I'm the oldest so don't know why. I watch Fox 4 News because you are about the fairest all around on T.V.
