When you allow every body who crosses our boarders illegally to stay you are opening a can of worms. You can not say this group can stay that group has to go. It isn't just Mexico. If we allow every illegal to stay you are talking about some that come over here with criminal back grounds and use us to hide out, you have terrorist, you have good, and you have bad. You have the ones that kill, steal cheat, and you have the ones that work hard. We can not solve their countries problems and with Mexico, if that many are sneaking across the boarder why aren't they working to solve their countries problems?

Why are they not investing in starting some kind of business in their country to help their people? Why are we suppose to support not only them but their families in their country when we have enough people over here on food stamps and houseing assitance, and diffrent forms of welfare? Yes I feel sorry for them and their plite but I also feel sorry for all the people over here who are jobless because that factory job is being worked by some one who is illegal. I feel sorry for that construction company that went under because some company full of illegals can under bid them by thousands, I feel sorry for the roofers who have to compete with unions and illegals.

I feel sorry for all the legals who are busting their butts to earn a living and paying taxes to have it go out on illegals who, on the most part, do not pay taxes but use our free medical, food stamps, and houseing. I feel sorry for that legal American couldn't get houseing because an illegal has it. Have you seen how many shelters we have that are too full? How many families are struggling to find enough jobs to pay bills to keep food and a roof over their heads? My daughter works where their are more illegals than legals and they earn between $9.00 starting pay and up. If you have $0.00 an hour you would not mind one of those jobs. In the state of TN they rounded up 143 illegal factory workers in one factory, you think 143 legal Americans wouldn't want those jobs with Americas' unemployement so high?

You may say it isn't right to seperate their children from them when all they wanted was to work. Well they committed a crime just like the FLDS in TX and the bank robbers, and the murders  but we do not feel sorry for them when they leave their children behind. We have to abid by the laws of this country so if you are not from this country you should have to abid by them. Too bad, too sad, if they get arrest and sent home. They broke our laws not us. Yes it is sad for their children, our prisons are full of men and women with children and that is sad too but I don't want them set free. Personally I wish we could ship them out of our country too. I do not feel sorry for the bleeding hearts who feel we should let some one who breaks our laws go free. They should give their jobs to the illegals, and foot the bills for them but the rest of us should not have to carry that burden. And that goes for the polotitions as well. You want them here, take the 300 billion  plus to support them out of your pockets.

You expressed the same views of most citizens of this country and you did it very well. The biggest problem is that there are too many politicians that are bleeding hearts or just plain afraid they might upset the Mexican government. They don't want all the criminals in their country and probably urge them to cross our border.

My favorite is when Arizona enacted it's new laws that made it next to impossible for them to get work.. There was a mad dash back across the border and Mexico had the NERVE to piss and moan because they didnt have jobs or housing for all these families...

Well get your crap together Mexico... it's going to get worse. I think the American people are finally sick and tired enough of this crap.. that they will be having a lot more show BACK up on their doorstep.

When you consider that Nike shoes are mad there, and two other plants have moved there and there are several clothing brands made there all factories from the U.S. It makes it hard to feel sorry for them. There will be even more businesses moving across the boarder due to the lack of workmens comp, unemployement benifits, insurances, taxes and cheaper labor. Even more so if this universial insurance is tagged on to businesses. It just will make more since to go where you make money than stay where the government is running you out of business.

Go to most construction sites you will find illegals, go to Target off 291 and hwy 40 in Independence early in the morning and check out their stockers, check out the truckers from mexico, and go to factories, motels, resturants, take a good look around you and see how many are here. Now ask yourself why we need a secound language in America? We have spanish and english every where. Why? Greeks, Asians, Chinese, Japanese, and all other countries have to learn our language, we don't add theirs to our companies.

Simply put...welfare is entirely too easy to get and live off of. Especially if you have the know how to do it. He!! they live better than hard working people. And I'm not talking about illegals either. I'm not saying I'm for illegals coming in and reaping the benefits of our great country, however, I'm definitely not for these deadbeats sitting on the couch in nearly new, or new places, eating high on the hog because they get such a high amount of foodstamps they can't spend them quick enough, and not only get subsidized housing, but medical benefits and help with utilities. I'm not envious, jealous, or anything like that, I'm pi$$ed because my husband (like many others) is serving the country (or as some working their a$$es off) to provide for their families. Do these men and/or women not have an ounce of pride? You almost have to give credit to some of these illegals for at least providing for their families, even if it is wrong. I'm sure I'll get negative comments, but just sit back and think about it. I know a few stories that would curl the hair on your toes if you had the time for me to tell them. I'm just thankful for a good man with good morals and standards. When I go to work in 2 weeks, I will smile proudly each time I clock in, knowing I too am now contributing, and we are doing it (and always have) all on our own! Those who use the system don't have that sense of accomplishment.

I agree totally on everything that has been said. My son was born with A.V.( atrial ventricular ) Canal Defect and just because he does not show any symptoms on the outside, they, (SSI), won't accept him for SSI. My husband works 40+ hrs. a week, but, because he makes so much money, we don't qualify for help. So as for illegal people in this country, yes it tics me off that the American Government welcomes these ilegals with open arms! Every year we are given the choice to pick from a handful of people to lead this country, even if we don't agree with all of any one of the candidates proposals, and every year we vote! I would like to, for once, feel like my vote really mattered.

I have to agree w/redhotz! What has happened to the American worker? So many won't work a job that they think is beneath them or they won't work for less than a certain amount of money. I'll do almost anything to support my family, no matter the job or the pay. I DO NOT THINK IT'S RIGHT, but think of this from a perspective employers point of view! The illegals are eager to work, will do almost anything asked of them, and don't gripe & complain about it!!!!!

O.K. let's see, if you are in construction and bid for several jobs but lose the bids to illegals, you go for a job at a factory but aren't hired because of illegals, you go for any job and you can not find one because of illegals you really think they think those jobs are beneath them? I know people who pick fruit, tomatoes and etc. It pays well according to how much you do. They are legal Americans. I know people who work landscape and are happy with $9. bucks an hour yet can not find work because of illegals. That crap of Americans don't want to do it is just that. My daughter cleans for a living, my son is in construction, (he works at dallor general and delivering pizza cause his company can't underbid the illegals), my oldest son is in resturants ( which most are now hiring illegals), my youngest daughter is in landscapeing (where 6 out of 8 are illegals where she works), and my middle daughter is in farming. None of them think any of those jobs are beneath them yet it is harder to find work in most of those jobs because of illegals. What job would you like to give up? In Tn 143 factory workers were caught by INS were those jobs beneath the hundreds of unemployed? Did you ask that woman who couldn't pay for $38.00 in real food for her kids if her husband would like one of those? So tell me that over 12 million illegals working and sending their money to Mexico are holding down jobs no one wants.

gimini, you make a very good point. The ONLY reason illegals are given work here in America is because LEGAL Americans are too lazy to do the work themselves. For example, employers end up paying a LEGAL American $30,000/year and that LEGAL American ends up only doing half as much work as an illegal making $3,000/year would do, and then the LEGAL American worker turns around and tells the boss things like "Oh, I'll work more if you pay me more". I talked to a headhunter not too long ago, and he said the real problem with America's economy is the fact Americans don't want to work to get what they want. They want everything, they want it now, and they don't want to work to get it. He said he had a client who was fresh out of college already $12,000 in credit card debt, had his own Mercedes, and turned down a $40,000/year job as second in command of a farm silo because he wanted to be paid to sit in front of a computer all day playing Solitaire. He then said baby boomers are just as guilty of being lazy...He had one lady who was between jobs - her previous job paid her $100,000 year, and she would not take any job that paid less because it would mean she would have to work harder to support her family.

Its not that employers want to "go where the money is", its that they only say that because they don't want to face a defamation lawsuit. Employers go where they will find workers who actually do what they are asked to do and more. If that means sending jobs overseas because Americans are too fat and lazy to do the work, then that's what has to be done. If I was a corporate CEO, I would be doing exactly that. I would not waste money hiring and firing people who are too lazy to do what I ask of them; I would instead spend my resources searching for and hiring workers who would do everything I ask them to and more. If that meant going overseas, then I would leave it at that. If I was a corporate CEO and I found someone who would gladly try to do more work than me for only $5,000/year, I would hire him on the spot even though a college grad may have more degrees saying he can do the same stuff. There are three kinds of people in this world...Those who SAY they can do something, those who WILL do something, and those who are too lazy to do anything. 90% of post-grad Americans fall into the third category, 90% of illegal immigrants fall into the second category, and 60% of new college grads or high school grads fall into the first category.

Actually it is the overhead that sends them out of the country. I personally know that the overhead of a company is getting to the point that it is much wizer to go to Mexico, Indea, and China where there is no workmens comp, unemployement, insurances, and taxes, not to mention cheaper labor. It has nothing to do with who does a better job. I've seen the illegals work on houses. Tiles falling off roofs because they were not nailed on, stucco going every which way but in a pattern, and roofs that leak. So you are wrong there. It is because they do not pay the same things we do. No taxes, no unemployement, and no workers comp. no real over head. So they can work cheaper. Yes some are lazy but the majority are not. Go to AZ and see how hard all mexicans work, it is the same on both sides. You will always have the lazy and the not so lazy. The thing is better the leagal lazy than the illegal lazy, better to put food in the mouths of legals than the tables of some one not even in our country. The goverment does enough of that.

gimini, I honestly think that people should be forced to sign a waiver that says they understand the risks of the job they are applying for and that they agree not to sue the company for injuries related to those risks - this would reduce the number of people on workman's comp. The issue with unemployment is not due to jobs going to illegals...Its caused by a type of supply and demand. For example, there has been an huge increase in the number of college graduates in recent years, but that number has far exceeded the number of available jobs. This leads to ever-increasing unemployment, and the job outsourcing only makes matters worse.

The demand (number of available job positions) is much lower than the supply (number of college graduates), and this is what causes unemployment.

Depending on the field of study, I think people should look for jobs not just in other states, but in other industrialized countries. For example, those majoring in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or Robotics Engineering may have better luck finding a job over in Japan or China.

Those majoring in HVAC, Automotive Technology, Industrial Technology, Construction, or Railroad Technology can go almost anywhere in the world and still get a good paying job. Automotive Technology and Railroad workers are in high demand in countries that rely on mass transit systems; Construction, Industrial Technology and HVAC workers can go to practically any industrialized country in the world and still have a job; while those who know a foreign language can easily get a high-paying job as a translator.

By "good-paying job", I mean that the jobs pay well compared to the cost of living of that country or state. For example, here in Kansas City, the average hourly wage is $7.25/hour while the cost of living is $11.25/hour to afford a one-bedroom apartment at fair market value. In other countries, the cost of living is a lot lower but because the jobs are in high demand, the employers often pay more to attract workers.
