I was thinking of all the things that the liberal bleeding hearts have done for us and we need to thank them, thanks for taking our rights away as parents, gosh that worked out swell, thanks for looking out for the prisoners, they get better educations and life styles than most of us, the average man can't afford a gym but by golly they have one, thanks for doing away with the chain gangs, God knows we want more taxes so criminals can sit on there behinds and study law and cost us more money, thanks for doing away with the death penilty as much as you can, we all want to support rapist, murders, and various other violent criminals till they die, and thanks for getting rid of the teaching of morals in school and out of it. Thanks for getting so much sex and violence on TV for our kids to watch and hear, thanks for all the taxes to run all the programs so illegals don't starve or live on the street and government officals can waste. And thanks for the over population of deers and other critters that cost in car repairs and insurances and lifes, yes we owe you so much as you slowly destroy our nation worring about how much better you can make things.

I want to thank you for knowing what I want my child taught, thanks for looking out for all the criminals rights, we all know how those criminals look out for ours, thanks for looking out for our health to the point we can't afford a doctor, you have been taking care of us because we are too dumb to know better to the point you have taken away too many of our rights so I just want to thank you for knowing so much. We have seen what you have done with all your "I know best" and personaly it sucks. If I was in prison I guess I would love you more, after all I'd have TV, gyms, colledge, food, houseing, and legal representation for free while all us suckers get to pay. Yes you need to take a look at our world, you've done your job and you've done it well. We now have schools that barely teach, streets we can't walk cause we aren't all that safe, children who are rude and some that think murder is cool, and we have a country near bunkruptcy do to wild spending. Yes we have so much to thank you all for.

Please stop helping us and doing so much for our rights, I do not know how much more Americans can afford. Please feel free to take away the prisoners right to sit in a cell and bring back chain gangs and other means of their support. Please feel free to end all the gyms, libraries and other things we working class can't afford. Take out the TV's and give them a broom, make them clean up all the prisons rooms. Put their air to 80 degrees and push that heat to 65 degrees. Take all the laws on how to raise our kids and use them on yours as they do not work with ours. Cut all the taxes for lawyers and such for the guys who do crimes, make them work overtime to pay for their own. You don't pay my taxes nor any of my bills so please spend your money on what ever you will but leave mine alone and others alone. But thanks for all the crazy things you have done.  Because of you criminals don't mind doing their time. And children are getting left way, way, way behind. Yes we really need to give you our thanks.

Well, you can also thank the conservative congress for the first six years of the Bush presidency, as well as Bush himself.

yes I can as we were not sinking like we are now with the democrats in. It was republicans who ran the congress and house of reps when Bill Clinton was in office and we were clearly getting our country out of debt. So thanks to the republicans because the congress and the house do the budget and spending for our country not the president. Look it up.

Strange, it was under complete Republican control of government that the country found deficits greater than it has ever seen...

And that was after the democrats had run it into the ground. Just like now. why do you think they want more taxes? Have you looked at the amont of money being used for things it was not meant for? Have you gone in and researched what is going where and why? Bills to honor this person and that, money to run elect, gas, and water lines that people pay the same companies to run? pork barrels to support themselfs, illegal getting over 300 billion? have you looked to see who is all for this spending? Go look, I did and it is scary how much is being spent and how little the Americans know or bother to find out. I am not saying republicans do not do this but you need to go LOOK at who is actually spending your money. Who cares if they are republicans or democrates.

Because of you criminals don't mind doing their time.

I don't think I have heard of anyone screaming to be let into a prison. In fact, just the opposite. Lenghty trials, appeals, police chases, criminals finding new ways to skirt the law. If the statement were true, people would just pull over say you got me, waive thier rights and go to prison.

As far as TV rights, they get an hour a night in a packed room, unless you are in minimum security, but your family has to buy a transparent TV. You are made to work and only keep about 15 cents on the dollar.

Free legal representaion is for everyone accused of a crime. What is wrong with that? Innocent until proven guilty, right?

Free college education is for a very select few, and they have to work to pay it back.

The schools are being told what to teach by the current administration.

The Patriot Act, passed during the Bush regime, has a really nice name to it that everyone thought they should vote for without reading. Many individual rights were lost on that one.

Watch out for anything that has "smart" as a prefix attached to it. It is for illiterates who can't read and thinking they're getting something......well....smart.

Smart loan, Smart banking, Smart card, Smart Car...etc.

So, gimini, the Republicans in congress during the Clinton admin lead to the Democrats running the economy "into the ground" for the Bush admin? Read your previous posts before making a new one.

They need more taxes to pull the country out of debt, a result of the Republican's period in office. Now, why don't you go research all the conservative lobbyist groups that run the government, as well as the pork barrel given to corporations (AKA corporate welfare). Both are equally guilty, one just calls it by a different name.

no but youd od hear them say doing a nickle or dime, 5 to 10 years, is easy and they can do it standing on their heads. And the college education has been given to death row inmates, we all know they need it. And free legal representation goes for every one right except that if you do not go to jail because you were not guilty you get to pay a price for that free representation yet the guy who has commit the crime, and some are repeaters, do not. and no some prison allow TV's in the cells. You can have one bought and brought to prison, and who cares if it is a main room or their cells, they are there to be punished. They are not there to watch TV, work out, nor get a higher education. They are there because they do not know how to obey the laws we all have to. They are in prison because they have commited a crime. They are not there because they need a locked down vacation.

My brother did hard time and he had his own TV, art supplies, and a gym to use, and went to school at our exspence to learn no less about computors. He did not have to work, he could laze around in his cell watching TV all day and paint if he wanted as well as sell his paintings. He has been in and out numerous times and I'm sorry but if prison was a punishment I think the first would of been his last. Also he never paisd a dime for legal fees. To me it was a crime commited against no only the people he commited against but every other person paying taxes. And yes I think it is wrong to give so much thought to their rights. They have none once they do the crime.

Sorry I am so angry but he came out after 25 years this last time thinking every one still owes him because HE spent so much of his life in jail. He learned NOTHING by going to jail.

I should add that his daughter following in his foot steps is doing time for robbbery in which a man was killed. He feels her rights are violated because she can not get paroled after 5 years. She is taking music and learning to play the piano and guitar. And who is paying for it? Yes you guessed all us tax payers along with her lawyers for her appeals and yes I am angry. Prison taught him one thing only and that is we owe him. Well brother or not I do not owe him crap and neither does any one else. I love him but he is a criminal waiting for his next mark.

Public funding for college education in prisons across the U.S. was pulled in the mid-90s by politicians who were against giving criminals a free education. The education rcvd was from volenteers trying to make some sort of difference. Thats their choice. I wouldn't do it, but it's America.

Gimini- I am not saying they should have rights but you make it out like a day spa. Five years is a long time and in the present condition of prisons criminals who go in only learn to be a better criminal upon release. It's not easy and they are told what to do when to do it and how to do it. I haven't heard of a single person who EVER wants to go or go back. Its a way to act tough and dismiss the law.

On a side note- I can find no where that it states the innocent have to pay back the public defender. Please direct me to where that information is available.

I am sorry to hear about your personal run-ins with this. Your post appeared while I was writing. I agree we do not owe them anything upon release. I am wondering though if they are not equipped with any sort of skills while serving what will they resort to when they get out? Like the idiot who killed a mother and daughter and 8 years ago did the exact same thing.

open-eyed,
Stay focused.
gimini didn't mention anything about deficiet budgets in the original post, yet that has been your only avenue of response! Guess you agree with the original point. Thanks.

And allow me to add another point.
I pay 100% of my daughters college educations, yet have no rights to their college records; grades, attendance, medical treatment, etc. Privacy, privacy, privacy. How the heck can you have "privacy" if your not paying for it?
Yea, yea, I've heard the agrument: It's between my daughters and me! Really? It was between my daughters and me when I wrote he check(s). Liberals just added another barrier between us; THE FAMILY.
Thank you.

Psst, Patriot Act was reaffirrmed by the Democratic congress. Damn, another argument down the drain.

Actualy, Everyone likes to believe "Inocent until Proven Guilty" but in todays world that is a MYTH. It is "he who has the most money is innocent".

Our current justice system is so screwed up, it will never be fixed.

I am saying they should be on chaingangs, working factories in the prisons, doing something to pay their own way. There awere 10 of siblings in our family and only one lazy criminal and he will tell you it is no worse in prison than on most city streets only in prison you know your enemies and he had it made. He didn't work just wasted 25 yrs flat time and painted. We need to make them work and pay for what they did not give them all these rights. They do not have rights if they can not respect yours and mine. And beleive me if my brother, his daughter or some jerk you do not know robs, or worse yet kills some one you love or you it will not be the same outlook. I love my brother but I'd of rather him learning a lesson and avoiding going back than looking at it as easy time. He has spent most of his time in prisons, and juvie was the worse. Good golly, if you are a kid you get worse conditions than an adult.

I am a reformed democrat now republican and mother of 5, have 10 grandchildren and one greatgrand child. I have lived all over the US and love to sit on docks and fish. Waiting for the big one. I love my family and a good joke, reading and painting. My siblings all think I need to be taken care of as do my children and I'm the oldest so don't know why. I watch Fox 4 News because you are about the fairest all around on T.V.
