The Evolution of the Horse

I Know how much some people on this site love horses, so here are some illustrations that show the evolution of Horses.

The smaller horses are from earlier time periods, when horses were very similar to smaller cloved animals, like goats. Gradually, over millions of years, they evolved into faster, larger animals that could gallop away from potential predators like the Sabretooth tiger, and later human beings.

This illustration shows the time line of the changes of the line that gave birth to the modern horse that we know and love!

This shows the layers of strata (rock and earth) that tell us how old a particular fossil (bones) is in comparison to other fossil bones.
