I pray for the recovery of this family.  What a horrible ordeal to go through.

I live not to far from Beloit, and out this way alot of people have either propane or fuel oil as thier heating source.  I use to have natural gas when I lived in the city, and never gave much thought to it.  Now that I live in the country, I heat my home with fuel oil. (it's real similar to diesel fuel)  In my basement, directly under where I am sitting now, I just had 150 gallons of fuel oil delivered.  I don't realy feel real comfortable about it.  But then again, I have heard of homes with natural gas exploding too.  I wonder if I am at any greater risk having fuel oil.

My prayers and thoughts are with this Beloit family.

That is scary. At least 2 to 3 times a year you hear of a house blowing up because of a gas leak. If I'm not mistaken it's usually natural gas houses. I know in our area the gas companies checks for gas leaks pretty regularly, and I have my furnace checked at minimum every other year. I wonder if there is a detecter that can be bought for gas leaks? They seem to have one for a lot of other leaks.

PS. I thought those tanks were always out side. No?

Alot of propane tanks are outside, but fuel oil tanks seem to always be in the basement.

I didn't know that. I guess that would put me a little on edge too then.

I think with anykind of Heating fuel you need to be extra caution about it...anything like that has a chance to explode with a leak always every winter you should have your heating unit checked...if anything is leaking have it fixed at that instant...

I feel so sorry for the beloit family...I do know at where I work at they have a potition going around to help the family get an extreme make over...I guess they need so many signatures for them to even get an application!

I am a homemaker. I hope to start breeding goats in the spring. I have 2 alpines, 1 nigerian dwarf, 1 pygmy, and on mix goat. My children are grown, so now my goats are my "kids".
