Are real people as frightened as I am about the future of our country? I say this as a grandfather who is as impotent as the next guy when it comes to being able to play a real part in the future of this once great nation, the United States of America. Anyone who can see the past and the present clearly, knows of what I write.
How is it that many people can continuously sing "God Bless America", when "America" has turned away from the precepts of God? Such as about 39 million abortions performed in the U.S. between 1973 and 2000 (on average, 1.4 million per year). The adoption of the pro-homosexual agenda. The general acceptance of pornography in the so-called "polite society". While our churches go wanting in membership and strong men who are filled with the Holy Spirit and are unafraid to speak the truth to man, and the truth of God, our legislatures are filled with men, and women, who are so weak that they always first check to see which direction the political winds are blowing before they cast a vote or even go outside. Am I the only one who sees something fundamentally wrong here? Am I the only one who sees something wrong with the choices for President reduced to Barry Bama and John McCain? Granted the President of the United States is not a ruler but a leader. At least he is supposed to be.
Neither one of them are inclined to make ALL their decisions based on their oath of office!? Though this is not new (begining with abraham lincoln, most presidents have violated the oath of office), how do we the people take back control of what is suppose to be OUR COUNTRY? Or has this been a pipe dream all alone?!!

Notwithstanding what many may say, the evidence is very clear, this country was founded by Christians for religious freedom.
The idea of the open practice of religion was never questioned until the humanist-socialist ideas came to the surface in this country in the 20th century. With their allies of the ACLU, a documented socialist organization a concerted effort was and is ongoing to remove Christianity from all vestiges of American life. Not religions, but Christians.
You never see any attacks against government support of other religions use Christians. Hence, foot washing baths are made available in public airports for the use of Muslims, private rooms are made available in schools for Muslims. Children in a school district in California were REQUIRED to participate in Islam ceremonies and dress to get a "feel" for diversity. (Don't believe it Google those topics and see.)
So how did the USA devolve from a Christian nation to the secular godless entity it is today?
Because Christians failed to exercise their rights to oppose those threats to their religious liberty. We sat back in our homes and churches and said this does not affect me.
We had the chance to overturn bad law and court decisions when they arose, such as atheistic attacks on freedom of religion, abortion, promotion of any anti-Christian cause in the public sphere. How? We protest by contacting our elected officials and tell them we are not going to tolerate this bigotry against us. Would they listen? Maybe not, but if those who call themselves Christian voted the truth t

I heard someone recently assert that B.H. Obama was "appointed by God" to be our next President. That may indeed be true. After all, God appointed the Chaldeans to be rulers over Israel for seventy years, starting in 606 BC.

I am only a couple of years your senior, Jimmy . . . (no big deal, really) . . . and a Veteran of Service in Vietnam. There have been many times, since November 1982, that I found myself wishing my name was listed there so I would not be witnessing the obvious and disastrous decline in this Nation formerly so blessed by God.

A funny thing about "the great falling away," as we call it; I was recently kicked out of a church I had attended for seventeen years after I questioned the new "pastor" about the propriety of celebrating the Resurrection with pagan accoutrement of bunnies and eggs, rather that the Scriptural and Historical time of Passover. That question had come to my mind as the result of studying the New Testament as reflected in the Old Testament.

You rather expect silly children to believe they are “bullet proof.” But, it is truly alarming that so many ostensibly responsible citizens of our Nation believe we are so invincible as to dismantle our defenses and for each to do what is right in th

their own eyes, as though there is no God, and if there is, He does not see what we are doing behind closed doors.

Arky51,
You wrote "There have been many times, since November 1982, that I found myself wishing my name was listed there so I would not be witnessing the obvious and disastrous decline in this Nation formerly so blessed by God."

What a sad, sad, sad commentary of the times. Consider all those older than us who have seen this abomination occur as well. What huge irony that the US spent many fortunes many times over to defeat the USSR, just to largely become that very thing. I guess it is like a lot of things. It matters not who is in the right, it only matters who controls the treasury.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" -1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

Let me preface that quote by first stating that I am a Christian man. More specifically, I am a protestant. I believe in saying "under god" in the pledge of allegiance and I don't see anything wrong with "in god we trust" on our legal tender. But if history has taught us anything it is that a government should be run by the people whom it serves and not by a church.

I don't expect everyone to share the same beliefs that I hold. And I don't expect my government to enforce laws based on those beliefs. Judgement comes to us all. I don't think it is always the purpose of our government to enact such judgement.

I am 54, father of three grown sons, two in the army. A native of Florida whose family ancestry goes back to Virginia in 1690 from England. I am passionate about preserving Southern rights, which all others are intent on destroying. For if Americans let this happen, who is next. As the German preacher said when it was too late, "First they came for the unions and I did not care for I was not in a union." Finally he says, "Then they came for the Jews and I did not care for I was not a Jew. Now they have come for me and there is no one to care about me." For in allowing the South to be demonised, Americans have laid the foundation of their own demise. But, it might not yet be too late to turn back that clock.
