So, John McCain announced that he would be suspending his campaign and asked Barack Obama to follow suit.  He also asked for a postponement of Friday's debate.

So what is this all about?  Is it really about heading back to Washington to deal with the financial crisis?

Here are some thoughts:

New polls this week show Obama surging and lengthening his lead.

The financial crisis has been helping Obama since polls have shown that his economic plan is better to fix the country than McCain's and McCain has supported the deregulation over the years that has allowed the current implosion on Wall Street.

Obama still has way more fundraising money that McCain, something that will surely be a factor as they race to the finish line.

By coming out with this move, he puts Obama between a rock and a hard place.  If he keeps campaigning, it looks awkward and can make McCain look like he's taking the high road and Obama doesn't care about the crisis.  And if Obama follows suit and stops campaigning, he looks like he's just a follower and McCain is the leader who came up with the idea.

So, what do you think?

Irish Times, Dublin
McCain praised for supporting Irish illegals
Immigration activists seeking to resolve the issue of the [illegal alien] Irish in the US claimed today they had not received any assistance from Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on this or other related issues. [Here's a different article that says Phoenix Mexican Reconquista fanatic Elias Bermudez is a McCain supporter.]

McCain is playing us just like with the Palin nomination ..hes gonna go to Washington the republicans are gonna vote yes on the bill he is gonna make it back in time for the debate and look like he fixed the economy or was the one that got things done by persuading the republicans to vote yes because they are the ones blocking this ..his poll numbers are slipping the economy is now on center stage again ..and other than a war with Iran he better do something drastic or this is it ..its all a bunch of crap from both campaigns..i cant stand either one ..they both think the American people are just gullible morons ..

Michael Cutler -- Family Security Matters
How many subprime mortgages were awarded to illegals?
This short news report might have been a bit longer if it had been written a couple of weeks later than it was. This story is dated September 5th and deals with one of the key issues about immigration that virtually no one is willing to talk about - especially politicians and others who subscribe to the open borders philosophy...

McCain throwing the election to Obama. Say, it seems that Bush and McCain are doing everything possible to install the far left Dems. Either that or that whole damned Republican crowd for the most part are so corrupted that they are going down in suicidal flames. Even longtime George Will has abandoned the Republican Party because it doesn't represent the very ideals it runs on anymore. But there is a third large party called the Constitution Party and their presidential nominee is a true conservative named Chuck Baldwin. He says he will fix what is broken and has a plan as well. www.baldwin08.com

Someone didn't do their homework:

"...The debate on Friday was to focus on Mr. McCain’s perceived strength, foreign policy. Mr. McCain had not planned to devote large blocks of time to debate practice as did Mr. Obama, who was holing up with a tight circle of advisers at a hotel in Clearwater, Fla., on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to prepare. Mr. McCain had a preparatory session on Wednesday afternoon at the Morgan Library in Manhattan, but advisers said it had been interrupted by his decision, announced immediately afterward, to suspend his campaign."

The Mother of All Bailouts has many fathers. As panicked politicians prepare to fork over a trillion dollars in taxpayer funding to rescue the financial industry, they’ve fingered regulation, deregulation, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Community Reinvestment Act, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, both Bushes, greedy banks, greedy borrowers, greedy short-sellers, and minority home ownership mau-mauers (can’t call ‘em greedy, that would be racist) for blame.

But there’s one giant paternal elephant in the room that has slipped notice: How illegal immigration, crime-enabling banks, and open-borders Bush policies fueled the mortgage crisis.

It’s no coincidence that most of the areas hardest hit by the foreclosure wave – Loudon County, Virginia, California’s Inland Empire, Stockton, San Joaquin Valley, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, for starters — also happen to be some of the nation’s largest illegal alien sanctuaries. Half of the mortgages to Hispanics are subprime (the accursed species of loan to borrowers with the shadiest credit histories). A quarter of all those subprime loans are in default and foreclosure.

Regional reports across the country have decried the subprime meltdown’s impact on illegal immigrant “victims.” A July report showed that in seven of the 10 metro areas with the highest foreclosure rates, Hispanics represented at least one-third of the population; in two of those areas – Merced and Salinas-Monterey, Calif. – Hispanics comprised half the population. The amnesty-promoting National Council of La Raza and its Development Fund have received millions in federal

McCain is a Paper Maverick and, as if being held in front of a candle, completely transparent. Now more than ever, the debate MUST be held on schedule.
