So, the Bailout passed.

Is this good?  Based on the instability of the markets this week, possibly.

But it seems like the general consensus among Americans who have a loose grasp on what's going on with this is...  the $700B Bailout is not really a good thing, but it had to be done.

Huh?  so, basically it's a lose-lose?  Well, kind of.

It's like this - we'll help you out this time because we have no choice, the economy will fall apart otherwise.  But we're going to have to make some big changes so you won't be able to take us to this point again.

Well that all sounds peachy, doesn't it?  (huh?)

What do you think?

Congresswomen and sisters Loretta and Linda Sanchez

Long Beach, Calif. -- Congresswomen Loretta and Linda Sanchez' brother Henry and his girlfriend are missing off Long Beach after an apparent boating accident.

In a statement issued in Washington, the Democratic California representatives say a debris field found in the ocean contained fragments from the boat their brother was aboard with his girlfriend Penny Avila.

The sisters say they pray and hope that their brother and Avila are found alive and well.

The Coast Guard says 51-year-old Henry Sanchez and his 48-year-old girlfriend, both of Santa Ana, left Alamitos Bay near Long Beach late Wednesday or early yesterday en route to Santa Catalina Island and never arrived.

They added 150 billion in pork!

So that makes 850 billion!!

but it didn't pass when it was only 700 billion.

I found these stats at: http://www.nationalpriorities.org/magnitude

The Magnitude and Meaning of the Proposed Bailout:
What $700 Billion for Wall Street means on Main Street
NPP Provides Analysis of $700 Billion for Taxpayers
The plan proposed by President Bush and Secretary Paulson for a $700 billion bailout of Wall Street is difficult for most people to comprehend. At NPP, we've been crunching the numbers and offer this analysis of what $700 billion means to taxpayers.
A healthy and productive economy requires substantial investment in affordable housing, health care, education and renewable energy. Taxpayers in the United States will be required to pay $700 billion for the Wall Street bailout. They should also know that for the same amount of money, they could secure the following:

51.6 million people with health care for four years OR
181.2 million homes with renewable electricity for four years OR
2.9 million elementary school teachers for four years OR
27 million four-year scholarships for university students
$700 billion is more than what is currently allocated for the U.S. war in Iraq. This amount would allow us to repair all of our nations 77,000 deteriorated bridges and still have $519 billion to spend; or it would allow us to rebuild all of our nations 33,000 deteriorating schools and still have $664 billion to spend. For more analysis and trade-offs at the State and Congressional District level, please visit National Priorities Project's Trade-offs page online (www.nationalpriorities.org/tradeoffs).

The Republicans tell of how Democrats only want to tax and spend, and the Rebublicans are the party of family values. Yet when you look at the data, it tells a differenent story. A couple years ago Vanity Fair magazine did a study of blue states (Dems) vs red states. They compared the tax revenues colllect to where it was distributed. They found the blue states received less money than they contributed, while the red states received more than they paid. (Alaska is a case in point as recent news tells of the 100’s of millions they have received for pet projects of Palin). Also, red states have higher high school dropuot rates, red states have higher rates of teen pregnancy, and of course red states have more cases of capital punishment.

They passed this just to get reelected. If the prevailing attitude of the Obama/Biden campaign that will permit judges to eliminate interest owed or principle owed by the simple act of non-payment, then we will be revisiting this issue in as little as two years.

if Casimir can really say that this is not enough to get the bailout package in the House or Senate in Washington D.C. President Bush has his hand in the cookie jar and how is this plan going to work in the meantime. We will never know when President Bush get out of office in January. Thanks, Casimir Zigulis
