Kansas Senate Bill 458, "Comprehensive Immigration Reform", died in committee yesterday.

This bill would enact harsh penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens ("undocumented workers" to the leftist media).

We need to try to push this through again next year.

I'll be campaigning for it all summer. If you live in KS, call your state Rep and Senator to let them know you want it "revived" next year.

It did, but it appears the house sent it back to committee for some reason and that was the end of it.

I think the businesses need to learn to do business legally.

Actually it helps prop up socialist insecurity, but that benefit is far outweighed in the cost of housing the criminals (in LA, 95% of the warrants for homicide are for illegal aliens, and 2/3rds of felony warrants are for same), and forms of welfare other than socialist insecurity.

It's also a threat to our national security and sovereignty.

In the long run, combining a welfare state with open borders is even more insane that the idea of the welfare state is in the first place.

The ONLY reason companies hire illegal immigrants is because its cheaper. A corporate CEO can pay a mexican $3,000/year to do the same hard labor a legal American worker won't even THINK of doing for $30,000/year because "That's not enough money". It is America's own damn fault that companies outsource jobs...Americans are so damn greedy and money-hungry that its forcing corporations to lay off a lot of legal American workers and hire illegals and barely-fluent foreigners just to save money. Legal Americans do not want to take a pay cut because they need that money to keep up with the Joneses, but an illegal Mexican will gladly work for less than minimum wage. Gee, and we wonder why America's economy is so FUBAR?

This bill is only going to force corporations to raise prices on things and FUBAR the economy even more to make up for lost revenue. Don't blame illegal immigrants for taking our jobs...Blame yourselves for being money-hungry and not taking pay cuts just to save the economy.

If it wasn't for the greed of corporations they would pay their employees accordingly. Gee, I think 40 billon dollar profits a quarter for a few is in excess. And the average American is barely making ends meet and no it is not because the want to keep up with the Joneses, they simply want to eat, have electricity, and beable to afford their prescriptions!!! If you hate the greed in America and want to work for 3,000 a year move.

We should take the thirty thousand military forces off the border of South Korea and put them on the Mexican border. Most of the countries of the world guard their borders with the military., we should do the same. Mexico has it's problems but why would anyone there stay to fix them when they can cross the border, and live better here and still have enough money to send home? Being a conspiracy nut I can see large corporations paying politicians to ignore this problem, as it is a easy way to bring down the middle class and maintain corporate power. I talked with some illegals and they told me that unless it was a emergency they wouldn't go to a Dr. here they would go back once a year for their physical and then come right back. That's how open the borders are. And of course the gold mine is in having a child in the US, then every tax payer gets to support the child and parent with a wide variety of social programs. Illegals should not have a revolving door, empty the jails of not violent prisoners and put them to work on the farms, and fill the jails up with illegals. No other country in the world would permit this situation and neither should America. To have a open door policy for documented workers would soon have the Toyota plants filled with people sending their money out of the country. Complicated problem, easy solution.

How many of you realize that a lot of farms and other businesses are NOT American owned. You would be shocked if you knew just how many farms in Missouri are foreign owned. Some farms don't sell here in America but ship their goods back to Japan or other countries. California has a real problem with "foreign owned" businesses and these are some of the people yelling for more foreign workers. America is one of the few countries where you can own property and not be a citizen. Mexico won't let you.

BEAR9, neither will Honduras, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. I know because my parents had to form a honduran corporation just to buy a house there.

But here in the US, anything to turn a buck...

I love to discuss political philosophy. The problem I have is that liberals often assume I'm conservative and convserervatives often assume I'm liberal. It's because I'm neither. I'm libertarian, which means I believe in both social and economic freedom. I don't do personal attacks. I won't respond to yours, and I won't initiate one against you. So save yourself some time if you're thinking of flaming me!
