To all of those who spew intolerance on this website.

Don't tell me that you are against immigrants. If you want to say that you are against ILLEGAL immigrants I can live with that. They are ILLEGAL because they broke the law to get here.

Don't tell me that you are against gays or lesbians. Tell me that you are against gay marriage. I'll buy that. Gays and lesbians should not expect the same standing as a hetero couple who unite for procreation. I don't care that they can do it in a test tube or through adoption - it is not the same thing.

Don't tell me that you don't like whites, blacks, hispanics or Semites. They are people too. Tell me something that they do or don't do as a group that bothers you - I can live with that.

Don't tell me about Muslims, Christians, Jews or any other religious group - they have a right to practice their religion just as you and I have a right to practice ours.

If you have to be intolerant of something be intolerant of those who would trample on our freedom as Americans and on our way of life.

"Gays and lesbians should not expect the same standing as a hetero couple who unite for procreation"

**************

What about a hetro couple who unite for purposes other than pro-creation? Shouldn't
they also be denied rights?

They're detracting from the sanctity of my former marriage since I have kids from that marriage.

What about single parents? Should they be barred from adopting kids also?

Why do we need government to look up trousers and skirts to tell us what our churches can and can't do?

(dripping w/ sarcasm for the one or two who will never catch it LOL)

Rules Rules Rules, your rules at that.

I believe we have the right to be intolerant and break the rules.

It would take all the entertainment value out of this space.

We should take our cue from the government. Simply make things up as you go along, and print more money.

I knew that someone would jump on the gay/lesbian issue when I wrote it. This is an instance when it didn't quite come out the way I intended it but I won't try to wiggle out of it because I might just dig myself in deeper by trying to extricate myself.

I will say that even the gay/lesbian community is divided on the issue of gay marriage.

Yes, we all have the "right" to be intolerant. Most of us would agrre that intolerance of murder is a good thing. Does intolerance of another person's religion or ethnicity have many positive results?

Intolerance has various levels of definition.

For instance, I am intolerant of people who don't teach their children manners or how to behave in public. They foist their out of control kids on everyone else and intrude on the peace of others. That does not mean that people who have let their kids take control of the family should be neutered although there have been instances when I would have agreed with that.

Intolerance can also mean, and usually does mean, disallowing.

What is your definition of intolerance?

I'm intolerant towards tolerant people. But I'll defend their right to be that way.

Intolerance---impatience?
Intolerance---disallowing?
Intolerance---refusing communication exchange?
Intolerance---agree or die?

missnancy- all of the above

Well, JStol, if BeStrong responded accurately, then I shall respond as you requested:

My personal intolerance list:

I am impatient with people who can't, or won't, control their children in public

I opt to disallow homosexual marriage. I have no problem with homosexual people or the majority who simply choose that lifetyle, but I would vote to disallow homosexual unions as marriages.

I would choose to refuse communication exchange with radical leaders who scream they want to destroy another group of people as well as my own family. Their very religion encourages them to lie and act deceitfully if it will serve their goals. For that reason, I would not bother communicating with them.

I have zero tolerance for people who say "agree or die" and will fight them to my death.

As I said, intolerance is a matter of degree.

Funny you to say that, isn't that what President Bush said? "Your either with us or against us"

Missnancy, i totally agree with you on the controlling in public. I will not say but there is a certain group of people that will bring their whole family to the store just to buy a freaking wrench and when they do they let their kids run wild and then they want to get mad at the store when their kids hurt themselves. However, about your third intolerance I would say you are refferring to the war. In that case there are more than just middle eastern people that would like to see our heads on a platter. Why aren't we after them also? I mean come on north korea test fired nukes and yet we don't budge. We THINK iraq has them and wer're all over it, hhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

What ever happened to bin laden? he was the guy that started all of this with 9/11 and all. oh yeah i forgot he's probably at home playing his xbox while wer're dicking around in iraq. Everybody in our government, especially in this administration needs to be pimp slapped.

Confram, even the middle eastern news sites and blogs mention bin Laden's death in reference to the songs and poems written for his funeral shortly after we bombed the mountains in Afghanistan when we first went in.

Also, do you have any idea why the Dems didn't take him when offered? He had already killed a few American marines, a few sailors and had funded the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center.

JewwellsP, one can hardly equate Bush's words of "with us or against us" to "accept Islam or die" which is being done in some African countries. It is a tenet of the religion that those who are vanquished by Islamic warriors are given the choice to either submit to Islam or lose their head. I think that is a LOT different than what Bush said. He didn't threaten to kill anyone, at most he would reduce the amount of aid they get from us.

independant. If anyone wants to correspond directly with me you can do so at jstol3@netzero.com. I see myself as both a conservative and a conservationist. I despise wastefulness but I don't want environmentalists telling me how to live my life. I'm all for a free market system except when it comes to energy. This is a monopoly thast needs to be regulated! I diverge from most conservatives when it comes to abortion and stem cell research as I belive in freedom of choice and scientific progress as I believe that we were given a brain to think with. Knee jerk reactions and one issue politics turn me off. I am both a Vietnam veteran and former Vietnam war protester (we should have been allowed to win). I am an advocate of the war in Iraq (as long as we do what we have to to win) and the war on terror.
