If Barack Obama gets his way and sex education is taught in second grade who do you think might be the most likely people who would want to teach sex ed to such a young crowd?

Could it possibly be teachers with an inordinate interest in second grade children?

Parents, you need to be thinking about your children on elction day!

Obama certanly would not wish for children to be harmed by early sex ed but that could be an unintended consequence of putting very young children into such an environment and it shows how little Obama is thinking ahead when he suggests some of his programs.

That is why he is not ready to lead!

JSTOL3 - As a mother of three teenaged daughters - I support sex education. Not abstinence education.

Obama is not saying he wants to hand out condoms and show xxx rated porn to 2nd graders.

He wants "age appropriate" and science based information provided. I totally support this.

For example; in 2nd grade, they'd be talking about inappropriate touching. I also support using correct words - vagina, penis.. instead of "down there" or "private parts"... in 2nd grade. Sex ed isn't all about sex. It's also about body image. Self esteem etc... Nothing taboo for 2nd graders.

snoopy-

You miss the point. I'm concerned that the people attracted to teaching sex ed to second graders might be the kind of people you DON'T want to be with second graders. Things happen often enough with teenagers and teachers. I don't want my grandchildren learning about the birds and bees until they know what is appropriate and inappropriate!

Penis and vagina don't need to be in a second graders vocabulary in a school environment.

My friend thought it was a good idea to teach her children at a young age about the proper names of body parts, her 7 year old went around for the longest time telling everyone she had a virgina and did they have one or a penis. Young children do not always understand there is a right time and a wrong time to discuss such things and no matter how many times you tell them not to they pretty much do as they please.

I am taking bets on how soon Snoopy's teenage daughters will turn up pregnant or with a STD.

You can teach abstinence AND educate your kids about sex by teaching the importance of abstaning.

Ypung children do not know what to do with this information and thought process at that age. The kids committing sex crimes in day care centers and such, learned it from an idiot that abused them. Let children be children, start shooting the sex offenders, problem solved.

First off, Obama did not suggest teaching sexual education to second graders. Again, look up the facts before you post something like this. I understand you don't like Obama.. but your just spreading more trash.

I believe that Children of any age should be taught to understand the dangers of inappropriate touching. I also believe that using the proper words for the anatomy is the right thing to do. Our daughters know the difference. Their mother is in the medical field. Abstinance is all fine and dandy, however, if kids are told DON'T do this... they ususally find a way to do it, so it's important that they understand the dangers of STD's and Pregnancy.. and how to protect yourself.

MF -

I'm glad that I have you around to instruct me and tell me what I should and should not do. I'm sure that in my 62 years I have learned much about children from my own three, my three step-children and my numerous grandchildren. If you want to put your own daughter's in harm's way by possibly exposing them to deviant people disguised as legitimate sex educators I suppose that's your business. I do feel sorry for them because of the possible harm that could befall them though. What will you tell them when they come home and tell you that "teacher taught us so-and-so and he put his hand here and here to show me? BTW - Obama is in favor of very early sex education. I suggest that YOU research him further. It is typical of the liberal left to take a patrician attitude and try to set the rest of the world straight. It's what makes all of you so easy to identify.

independant. If anyone wants to correspond directly with me you can do so at jstol3@netzero.com. I see myself as both a conservative and a conservationist. I despise wastefulness but I don't want environmentalists telling me how to live my life. I'm all for a free market system except when it comes to energy. This is a monopoly thast needs to be regulated! I diverge from most conservatives when it comes to abortion and stem cell research as I belive in freedom of choice and scientific progress as I believe that we were given a brain to think with. Knee jerk reactions and one issue politics turn me off. I am both a Vietnam veteran and former Vietnam war protester (we should have been allowed to win). I am an advocate of the war in Iraq (as long as we do what we have to to win) and the war on terror.
