Recently, CBS anchor Katie Couric reported on the staggering costs of health care for illegal immigrants, the bill for which, of course, is entirely footed by the American taxpayer. Now,Mexican groups like La Raza are up in arms over the report, which they claim promoted "anti-Latino falsehoods" and "demonized" illegal immigrants.

Here's a newsflash for our cousins from south of the border - anyone that's here in the U.S. illegally deserves demonizing ... and immediate exportation (not necessarily in that order). And I'm not going to play the political correctness game and dance around the issue.

In the report CBS reporter Byron Pitts talked with a pregnant Mexican woman who underwent an emergency C-section at a south Texas hospital. This woman did not pay anything for the $4,700 procedure because she qualifies for emergency Medicaid. The report also pointed out a study estimating that Americans are forced to pay - are you ready for this? - $1.1 billion per year for illegal immigrants health care. Of course, the immigrant groups like La Raza and others had no facts to counter what they called these "anti-Latino falsehoods" in the report. I guess it's just not fair to point out the negatives about the growing number of illegals in our country. After verifying the facts it proved the figures were wrong, La Raza was correct after all. The report actually UNDERESTIMATED the size of the financial kick-in-the-teeth Americans are forced to pay due to the illegals.

Bob Knight, director of the Culture and Media Institute called the report a "breath of fresh air," considering most media coverage is largely biased heavily in favor of illegal immigrants. Knight points out that America's left-leaning media essentially approves of the massive influx of illegals as a way to increase the Democratic voter base, and will eventually become what is called "a new generation of Democratic voters."

If it's one thing these people have proved, it's that they care little for American citizenship, they're just after American rights and jobs. They'd probably like the right to vote as well, while not attaining citizenship to get it though. Groups like La Raza make me ill, they march through our streets carrying Mexican flags demanding rights and privileges that are afforded normally to only American citizens. So, ignore the facts or else.....isn't it nice that people such as this have graced our nation? Let's hope that someone in our government seals the border, and soon......

JT, I'm glad you wrote about this. I can see LaRaza getting upset. What is so short-sighted are Americans who fall in step. $1.1 Billion for health care is definitely modest. That's at least what border states pay annually to support illegal aliens.

We have news that the Rover landed on Mars this week, yet somehow we don't have the technology to monitor a fence. To depend on the federal government means no sealed borders. States have authority to curb the influx. "Waiting on the feds" is an excuse, for those trying to win favor with individuals they think have all the power—the assumption is that American voters have none.

jteamaz and PJ, you are both so right in your opinions.

Americans will finally wake up after our country is in control of the "Hispanic community" as preached by La Raza and by ISFLatino.

They also have the Republicans in their pocket right along with the Democrats. Look at our own McCain and Kyl for an example. I pounded on them pretty hard with e-mails and phone calls when the amnesty give away was up for a vote. The President and the rest of his cronies are in that pocket too.

I will believe that Americans want change when they STOP VOTING THE SAME OLD RIFF RAFF back into congress and for our President. Wake up people.

Sorry guys, but your wrong about this problem. 20 years ago illegals were here and this wasn't a big problem. More illegals are here now but there wasn't a huge influx of them as they were growing, more or less, at a constant rate. If it's constant, it's not a variable. However, the growth rate of obesity in this country is not constant. That class of people made a huge jump over the past 10 years which is why our health care is in crisis. Go to any hospital and you will notice that 75% of the people there are overweight and costing us millions to take care of their heart and lungs, diabetes, back problems, etc. Get real, it's the overweight and old people (baby boomers are getting old and there are a lot of them) who are causing the vast majority of this problem. Illegals are just a drop in the bucket since the average illegals is male ages 18-25, the demographic least likely to go to the doctor and/or hospital. But, then agian, I think for myself and don't regurgitate what my party says unlike pretty much everyone.

Not much to say actually. Just a normal kinda guy. I drive a truck delivering groceries for a major food chain here in the valley. Try to keep educated on local and national events especially those concerning corruption and moral ineptitude by our "elected officials." Very much for protecting our freedoms and rights, always open to new ideas and discussions. I don't identify as Democrat or Republican, and don't like to be labeled as liberal or conservative. Just try to stay responsible and informed as possible.
