Iraq war and our troops

War has only two purposes and that is to kill people and break things. The side that kills the most people and breaks the most things wins. War is horrible and there is nothing nice and pleasant about it. The sending of more troops will only cause more American deaths. It is not PC to say it but we should have hit Iraq with all our might and let God sort it out. We would not of lost our troops and it would have cost billions less to rebuild the place. The rules of engagement for our troops are beyond ridicules. IM some of them and find out. We are not fighting a political war. This is a religious war . You can't fight a religion. The people of Iraq will choose their religion over politics everytime. What sending more troops will do is accomplish nothing. Iraq is currupt and they will let us die for them for ever to keep themselves in power. The don't care for or like us. America wake up.

junglejim,

Go back to the play ground were you came from or go over there and live for a few months and see if you would not want help. The military is volunitary the people who are in want to be over there or they would not join.

ambuldog You don't know what your talking about. Just liberal dribble. I have been in and seen more war that you will ever be able to understand. We go to war because the country ask us because we are the military. This doesn't differentiate between volunitary or drafted. No one in the military wants to go to war!!!!! I IM men there each day. I know whats going on. Jungle jim wasn't made up for fun. It has deep meaning. Things you don't need to know. Put your foot back in your mouth and go play.

Any time you join the military there is a chance to go to war. If you dont want to go to war them dont join. And I am not a liberal very far from it.

JJ,

First of all, THANKS for your service.

With all do respect, I have had contact with several hundred of my "adopted" Marines during the past year. No, I have not IM'd them but have received countless letters and e mails.

I would have to agree with you on many of your points but I have to say that there are more than a few Iraqis who actually do appreciate us, the fact that we are there - I would never presume to know what you know, to see what you have seen or to experience what you have experienced, I just know what I hear from the guys who my group and I have faithfully been supporting from the past year. It seems to me that appreciation and respect depends upon the area. The BTT in Tikrit is having a crap time of it where the MiTT in Ramadi is trading pics of their kids with thier counterparts and asking us to send clothes for the kids of their counterparts.

Anyway, that is just my humble 2 cents for what it's worth

ps.

Does a female with no military or political affiliation who has sent over 1000 packages, 125 cards (with no less than 50 signatures on each one) and over 100 pictures of their supporters to (very)forward deployed Marines from over 35 units get to say Oorah ?

Hey, you Jarheads (What? I capitalized it.) can be pretty darn radical sometimes, but I would vote "Aye" for the female (maybe that's the Scot in me).

JJ, you hung one thing on the right nail, to this end: This administration seems to have a blind spot about Border Security. Had the original plan included force enough to seal the borders, we might not be re-tasking and sending in reinforcements now.

I think they were banking too much on the "Shock and Awe," and not enough on warfare. Know thine enemy. A flash in the pan might make him pause, but he's been taught from infancy that the only way to be assured of "Heavenly Approval" is martyrdom. Again you are right, you can't fight that.

Maybe we should just drop 5 million copies of Salmon Rushdie's book on them. They can't possibly find and burn them all. Then, in ten or fifteen years . . .

Yankee fan Arky 51 Fish 247 Group Thanks for your comments. Unless you live out of country we can't understand that the world doesn't have the same values,morays,folk ways,amd for that part morals. Common everyday Iraqis want to live in peace and our troops get thanked by them upon occasion. Its the religious leaders who want to be dictator,corrupt political figures, and your assorted terrorist who don't want peace. Woman have a terrible life. Not considered much more than properity. If she can't do anything out she goes. I have a friend in Ramadi now that you should hear the stories.The book won't work unless you can find someone to read it to them. Thank you for sending to the troups mam. Just remember history. When the crusades were over Islam went to fighting each other and it hasn't stopped. The president is trying to do whats right by our standards. WE leave and the place is a blood bath. If the Iraqies don't step up we should leave. My opinion.

That is the problem, W and our troops are fighting a war by "our" standards of civility and under constant media scrutiny.

Not having ever served, I say this with no authority but, it seems to me that if we changed the "rules of engagement" to compensate for the current fight, our guys would get a great deal more accomplished
