EarthLink's networks stop talking to my cell phone once I downgraded my minutes. It kept saying Network not responding, and service cannot be used.  So I called them about a month ago and asked them to just cancel my contract since it is up in April anyways, and asked for them to waive the early termination fee of 175.00 since it was their issue, not mine.  They denied me, and I spoke to a supervisor, or the customer service guy did, denied me again, and I flipped out...I have had issues with EarthLink since I got with them a year and a half ago.  Non-stop issues of over billing etc.  Finally they told me I would not be charged anything, I confirmed by asking again, and then I received a confirmation number.  This was all about a month ago.  Well Sunday Oct.. 7th, I had a charge show up on my bank account for 176.38.  I called them up upset of course because they drained my account seeing how I was not expecting it.  They told me I was denied twice for them to waive the fees.  They said they would submit another request to waive the fees.  That was it.  I filed a complaint through BBB, and I contacted my bank for fraudulent charges seeing how they did not have permission to charge that.  They are going to investigate it.

Apparently they have had this issue for years now!

Have any of you had similar issues with very large companies?  You can bet that I will get my money back.  I have already emailed the vice president of Earthlink and Tom Sussi!!!

I had earthlink once. And I hated it. They also messed up my bill but I had mine through Sprint a few years ago so I guess it was Sprint that screwed up my bill. They were so rude to me when I called and charges all over the place so I cancelled them phone and internet and have never had a problem since. I now have the digital phone package with cable and internet and those 3 bills are cheaper than what Sprint charged for their phone and Earthlink.

This is why I never went with automatic billing. I have NEVER felt comfortable giving ANY entity the right to take from my account.

Any service that I cannot get a bill from, and pay with a paper check, I do not have, nor will I ever.

It is subject to abuse, and your experience is a prime example.

Yeah, no one is ever getting my card info again, I would much rather do bill pay! I have been very happy with vonage. They bill the same every month, and I never have problems with them. Not yet anyways! Yes Frank, that is my 6 year old...Yeah I have to fight those little gilrs off already. If I don't they will follow him around at school! I have actually witnessed this in soccer as well! lol...We'll be having mommy son discussions very early in life! Thank you Frank, you are one of my favorite respondants...I think I spelled that right!

Spelling? Everyone makes typos, and/or spells a word incorrectly. Only the lowest of the low, would even point out such a thing, and usually one that has nothing else to contribute, as you have seen.

I hope you will still blog here, after you get to Washington. We are losing all the best here it seems.

They tried to bill me on an ongoing basis for an account that I had closed 3 years prior..Took a lawyer to end it, cost me more that the bill was at that time, but not as much as it would if I had just let it run on until now!
Good luck, kiddo..they are as stubborn as a room fulla cats!
