"Pregnant mother to be Jennifer Prokop, 34, was walking in the grass on the side of the highway when she was hit by a red Ford Explorer.  The driver then pulled into a Kangaroo gas station and began to pump gas into the heavily damaged SUV."

And I have to ask, is this treating others as you wish to be treated yourself?  What is wrong with people that this is the way they behave towards their fellow man or woman?  This has to be by far the most horrendous example of behaving badly that has ever come across the news wires and it is INEXCUSABLE!!

How can anyone be so uncaring and unthoughtful and inconsiderate and hateful to do such a thing and simply carry on with life as though nothing out of the ordinary happened?  Are we becoming so blind to others that we refuse to see or acknowledge that we have done wrong and hurt someone else by our actions?  Are we so blind that we cannot see that there are others who cross our paths and, that sometimes in life, we are the ones who have to get out of the way?

We should be more focused and not in so much of a hurry to get where we are going that anyone who gets in our way doesn't go unseen and that we are not placing ourselves into a position where hurting someone else is of no consequence just as long as we are getting to where we are going as fast as we can.

The other guy shouldn't be an inconvenience to us nor should they be an obstacle that we think we  have the right to mow them over when they get in our way.

THERE IS NOTHING IN THE WORLD THAT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE ITSELF AND EVERYONE SHOULD FOCUS ON PERSERVING IT, NOT DESTROYING IT FOR PETTY REASONS!!

The driver panicked and went into denial mode. That's why she pumped her gas and claimed nothing happened when confronted by a witness.
Panic can make a person do strange things. I hope the driver gets caught! The witness should have been smart enough to grab the plate number though! The damage on the front of the vehicle should make it easy to spot! $10 bet says there's DNA on it somewhere too!

This is a condition that has plagued America. If you think about the increased numbers of these type situations over the past five years, people should b alarmed. I don't mean this in a fear driven way, but it is definately out of control.

Part of the problem is as Sheryn has stated, people are in a rush to go nowhere! They create such a frenzy in their minds about what they want to do and where they have to go. People have also become numb to the casualties of life. Recently in New York a man was mowed over by a car and cameras showed people just walking around him. Not one person responded............

This is a insidious disease that could end up being far more crippling than the threat of terrorism. Think about it 20 years down the road, Americans killing fellow Americans. Bodies just left on the side of roads. Do you see a similar "mind set"? The method, bomb or car, really is irrelevant. The disregard for life is the SAME. The only difference right now is the total numbers in EACH instance.

I'm not buying into it, stang. Panic is a momentary reflex but given a moment of thought, an honest, good person would turn themselves right around at the gas station and return to the scene, admit fault and face the consequences--and say they're sorry. Although it might have been an accident, the act of running away was deliberate and without good conscience.
The main problem is simply no one cares anymore. Everyone has on blinders and if it doesn't concern them directly, they just don't want to see it even to the cost of another's life. Pastor's right, this attitude is only going to get worse as the years go by unless people start getting their heads out of the clouds and start facing reality--and the fact that there are other people around them.

I don't buy the panic thing either. She was running from getting arrested. I just can't understand these things. I WILL NEVER understand these things.

I'm not excusing what she did at all but panic is not a fleeting thing. Once it takes hold, it can make a person do things they wouldn't otherwise do. I'll bet you a week's pay that she's STILL panicing!

As for saying "No one" cares, it's obvious that someone did. The guy that confronted her sure cared enough. I'm not going to throw all of humanity under the bus. The posts on this blog alone show that people do care and that this person is just wacked in the head.

It's a lucky thing that there are people out there who still care and will go the extra mile to help someone else in need. It's the kind-hearted souls that are in need of praise BUT it seems unfortunate that we are hearing more and more stories concerning the heartlessness of those who think they can destroy another's life and walk away from it without conscience and be in such denial that they cannot even face their own crime.

I am in Sarasota and enjoy reading avidly, mostly about historical subjects and biographies. Also have travelled in England and Wales, visiting family and historical sights. I like a good conversation on nearly all subjects and, although I have opinions, am willing to listen to all sides of a topic. I believe in listening and learning so your opinions are always necessary to me.
