My husband and I flew to Reno over a week ago, spent 4 days and then drove to San Jose, CA for our granddaughter's high school graduation.  Gas prices in Reno were still under $4.00 when we arrived there, but here in San Jose their at $4.43 per gal and climbing.  Rooms in the Holiday Inn are $126.oo a night, with a discount.  Starbuck's coffee $2.00 a cup more.  Everything out here is sky high, we don't how good we have it in K.C.  Guess it's good that most of the people who live here have six figure incomes.

Home never sounded so good to me.

I have a girlfriend that lives in San Dimas CA and a couple of months ago, seemed like their gas prices were consistently $0.50 more than ours... I'll take the midwest anytime... You get more income out there, but with everything being more expensive, you don't see any more profit... My niece moved from Omaha to Vacaville CA and had a HUGE shock because of the prices.. She's really depressed how much more they have to spend out there than they did in Omaha..

Well, California refuses to build a new refinery because it could hurt the environment. They oppose any further oil exploration off the California coast because it could hurt the environment.
So, no one in California should complain about the price of gasoline because higher costs are good for the environment.
Remember when, then Governor Davis got his a$$ handed to him by the electricity traders??? And while this was clearly wrong on the traders part, California subjects itsself to this type of manipulation by insisting that all energy producing facilities are outside of their state. Thus they are at the mercy of the markets. Welcome to reality.
