Could someone please explain to me how you give a Tax Refund to those that do not pay taxes?  Should the money go to those that paid in and not free loaders, aren't we giving them enough of our money anyway?

Welcome to America..Land of Life,,Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness..And Hell,,IF you're TOO lazy to persue it,,why,,,We'll just GIVE you a FREE ride...LMAO..

It was,,IMHO,, this very SAME approach to the "American Dream" that set into motion the course of events that lead to the Housing BOOM and it's eventual and inevitable Collapse..

You are right on Michelle, and those that have children (most get the EIC) will get more than those of us who don't. I guess we don't spend, pay taxes, give to charities..in other words we are insignificant in the eyes of our Congress. Quite unfair..they should have left everything alone and just given us permanent tax breaks.

They haven't said anything about senior citizens. Don't they get something too?

I've read quite a bit about it, but how about someone with 3 wage earners in the household, but I can still claim them as dependents because they are full time college students. They each earn less than the maximum. I need their deductions as dependents. Will the househole income be used to qualify or what they earned? Trust me, college students need it more than anyone.

Sorry, that is not true and was a very narrow focus on my part. I did not mean to discriminate, I was just thinking about those lovely pots of Ramen noodles.

Michelled - It's all preliminary right now, but from what I've seen so far -

A)You would not get the $300 rebate per child dependent unless they were under the age of 17

B)They would not receive a rebate unless they earned at least $3000 in 2007 income. If they earned at least $3000, they would receive a rebate whether they earned enough to pay taxes or not.

C)Household income for separate filers does not come into play, only tax return info does.

Loveit - If you don't pay income tax & you have less then $3000 earned income, so far it looks like you will not get a rebate. There has been nothing written regarding senior citizens living on fixed income.

Thanks DEOP for responding. I'm concerned that my parents will be left out of the program when they could really use a helping hand. I was disappointed that no media has addressed it specifically. Weird considering this is a retirement place....

Hopefully Senior Citizens will be addressed.

Instead one third of this "Stimulus Deal" ($50 billion) is a tax cut mainly for big business.

Don't hold your breath DEOP, even though we payed our income taxes over all those years, you will find we are out of the loop; and in the mist of those who have never paid taxes ( Freeloaders)

We wouldn't be in this problem if the politicians had not sold the USA out to Japan, China, Taiwon, Middle East etc.

One day we are going to wake up and get our country back, They have all benefited we certainly haven't.

welshtaff, you're right about seniors out of the loop. Look at taxable social security benefits - since this became taxable in 1984, the income level at which they become taxable has not changed even once. In 1984, 1/2 SS benefits + other income had to exceed $32,000 for SS benefits to be taxable. In 2007, this level is still $32,000. Yet when the politicians lie about tax cuts, they always claim help for the seniors. BS

This is an election year scam. Look how everyone is buzzing and so many are wringing their hands and asking , will I qualify if...
I doubt it will stimulate anything except maybe the polls when the election campaign starts heating up.
And for those that don't pay taxes getting a piece of the pie..they always do. It is sort of like GM giving rebates to people who didn't buy a car or who bought one many years ago..how long would they be in business if they did that?

...Despite my distaste for Huckabee's views and his presidential run, he did say something very Ron Paul-esque last night n the debate, about just who's economy all this will help.

...We have to borrow the money from China for these "rebates," and then Americans will most likely spend this money on Chinese goods at Wal-Mart. How in the heck is that good for the American economy?

...As Paul points out, if we don't actually borrow the money from China, we'd have to just ask the fed reserve to print more out of thin air, debasing the currency further, and plus interest.

...Seems like a lose, lose situation either way. When will people learn that there is no such thing as a "free lunch?"

Well, I am all for lowering taxes, but everyone seems so worried about me this almost looks like an entitlement blog.

If they can afford to send us money to prop up the economy thats about to go belly up then they can afford to cut our taxes.

We are standing at the gate of an economic crash not seen since the 30's and all of you just think about this small return that will only prolong events.

If you get a return put it into gold.

Notice to taxpayers: "Take the money (whatever amount) and run like a thief." Notice to non taxpayers: Take the money (whatever amount) and remain seated awaiting your next hand-out. Notice to politicians: Take the money (whatever amount) and remain a thief. Notice to retirees: Take the money and reamin paying taxes on your only nest egg.

Hey, this is even better than "to whom according to their need; from whom according to their ability." And all this time we were worried about Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin.

...The easiest way to buy gold/silver at market value is to invest in liberty dollars.

...I'd urge anyone to look into it.

Great post, as always, Michelle. You just KNEW that the politicians would work this into the plan, didn't you? Let's watch to see what happens to cigarette and lottery ticket sales.

RL: "It is sort of like GM giving rebates to people who didn't buy a car or who bought one many years ago.."

OUTstanding analogy!!!

chAng: I've asked you this in another blog but I do not recall having received a response. I am a numismatist from way back and own some pre-1965 silver US coins (most of which I have owned since the 1970's). But WHY would I want to BUY "dollars" (i.e., Liberty dollars) from a private entity that are backed by silver/gold (given the fact that Liberty dollars have limited acceptance)? Why not just BUY silver and gold coins and/or bullion?

Having recently accepted the nomination of a fellow blogger to run for President I felt it was appropriate to update my profile. I have lived in Florida for a long time, but have lived in 13 States in total. I feel that having lived in a quarter of the states I am qualifed to be President. I do have a political affilialtion, however that is not important, I will do what is best. If you contribute to my campaign I promise to make promises that you want to hear!!!! If you don't vote for me, don't vote for anyone, no sense in wasting your time!
