Mustang's Corral

I just saw this disturbing report on the here on the Fox 13 website. It's about the push to make bullying illegal. WHAT? Are you kidding me? They want to make illegal, and I quote, "Teasing, humiliation, excluding someone from the group"! WHAT? Are you kidding me? I mean come on people. I know kids have a few more techno gadgets to bully that my generation never had, the internet and Myspace etc but this is too much.

Teasing, humiliation, excluding someone from the group are not crimes. It's normal for people and or groups to do this. It might not be right and friendly but it's not a crime!  The first two are wrong under any situation but the last one, excluding someone from the group is the right of the group. If I or a group I belong to, don't want to associate with someone for any reason, that's my right. There were a lot of groups I wish i could have been in but wasn't welcome. I didn't cry about it or shoot up a school or worse yet, do myself in. I remember this kid in high school that didn't bathe too often. No one wanted to be around him except the other stinky kids. If this new law goes into effect, would a group have to associate with him even if they dont want to? If we had this law when I was in school, would Stinky be able to get us arrested or fined just because we didn't want him in our group? Thinking about that more, just what will the punishment/s be?

We have laws against asalt and slander and that enough to protect our kids from bullies. It's up to parents to raise their kids with enough backbone to stand up to bullies and have enough self worth to shrug off the barbs that EVERYONE faces from time to time.   This proposed legislation is just plain stupid! And I'll tease anyone who thinks otherwise and not let you in my group! *lol*

It sounds like the government is looking after "our best interest" again. They have talked about this problem before, maybe about a year ago. There are always going to be groups that are going to exclude certain people from joining no matter what kind of law is passed.

First off, please excuse my typos above. I should never type something so serious at that hour of the night.*lol*

Anytime the government is looking after "our best interest" as you put it, you can be assured that it's NOT in our best interest! But like I have always said, WE are the government. We only have ourselves to blame. The trouble is, no one ever thinks these things through. It's the rush to protect that causes more trouble in the end. There has to be a better way to protect our children. Maybe education on the topic? We had this lovely saying when I was a kid that has lasted me my whole life.

"Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never harm me"

Simple yet oh so true.

Maybe this kids would be alot tougher if they where allowed to play some of the great games we played back in school. Dodge ball/Bombardment,Smear the querre, tag and how about keeping score when we played kick ball. The teachers union is turning this country into a bunch of drugged out kittens.
