I watched the video of the brawl at the police station, and because video cameras never lie, I am going to side with the criminals on this - right at the start of the video, you see the cop walk in and push the guy into the pillar FOR NO REASON, then the bad guy's buddy walks in and nails the cop a good one when the cop pins the guy down.  That's what starts the brawl, because a second officer comes in with a tazer...I would have done the same damn thing to that cop if I saw him push my friend into a pillar for no reason.  Unprovoked attacks are just as much of a crime as assaulting a police officer.

you wouldn't do a darn thing except stand there like a Nancy boy and try to stay out of the cop's way.

After hearing earlier reports, sounds like the guy was looking for a fight, and sounds like he got what he deserved... He was causing trouble at the front desk by screaming as soon as he got to the counter!

I will be interesting in hearing from the men after they have been released, two sides to every story.

Like father like son - sort of runs in the family - crime that is.

BasehorLady, well, the video camera footage doesn't show any wrongdoing by the father and son, only the cops...Maybe if the cops would be more open and reveal the whole truth about things like this, there wouldn't be misjudgments.

According to news reports this morning, the two came in and one of them starting pounding on the counter and screaming at the woman behind it. She called for help. That's when the police officers came in.

It's too bad there's no sound on the video. This might explain a lot.

There's no sound, the cop was trying to handcuff him and geuss what, he more than resisted, he could have beat that cop to death, something tells me that their would not be a black protest. Can you imagine, blacks protesting other blacks beating or killing the police, what a laugh!! I don't even see how cops do their job, blacks have so many resources, like even free legal help to go after the police. All they have to do is be respectful, but they feel like they have to stick it to the man.

Copman, I know you're going to hate me for this, but I am going to call on the Federal Freedom of Information Act and request all the records the police have that would prove those guys committed wrongful acts out of the camera's view. I want the cops to either post those records here on Fox 4's blog or send them straight to the reporters so they can get the truth and broadcast it.

The father pounded the desk, the police were called. The police came in and was trying to put the father into cuffs for the safety of all there until the officer could figure out what was going on. The father resisted and that is plain. Had the father cooperated then he would have been cuffed for a few minutes and probably released.

The father was wrong and the cops were right. It was all in the video. Maybe Mnaines you should go clean your glasses.

Galanthis, the first cop on that video can clearly be seen shoving the father into the concrete pillar, then delivering a brutal beatdown...That's the ONLY reason why I'm siding with the criminal on this, because I believe the cop used excessive force (delivering the beatdown) instead of spraying the father with pepper spray or using a tazer. And the way the father's body was positioned when the officer had him pinned and was trying to arrest him - he was probably in too much pain to cooperate, which explains why the son attacked the cop - I would have attacked the cop, too, because cops don't need to cause that much pain on a suspect who is resisting arrest. I want that cop to come visit me and I will show him the kind of pain the father had to endure, then I will let him tell me if the father was NOT in too much pain to accurately judge the situation. From now on, I want the cops to put themselves in the suspects' shoes and endure the same pain and suffering they give to suspects, then maybe the cops will smarten up and find more humane ways of arresting aggressive suspects.

mnaines, whether you believe the cop was wrong in this or not, I will tell you this. If an officer tells you to do something like "turn around and place your hands behind your back" you must do this. Citizens are not given the right to argue with a cop during this time. If the officer did something wrong, you later get a lawyer and take the case to court. If citizens were allowed to argue when an officer tries to arrest him, everyone would fight. No one ever placed under arrest believed they did anything wrong. The father was wrong, in fighting with the police and deserved to go to jail. And like sweathart said, you wouldn't do anything. I have met many people like you and basically your all talk until the police leave. That's when you get the delayed courage.

ibreakforcops, I understand what you are trying to say, and I agree to it, but that's not why I am upset. Why I am upset is why the cop felt the need to inflict excruciating pain on the father simply because the father was resisting arrest. The pain the father endured in that video is indicative of torture, especially when the officer had him pinned. Now, answer me this: Do you think resisting an officer is justification for that kind of torture, or should the officer have used a tazer or pepper spray?

Speaking of torture - the police interrogations are nothing more than torture; when police question someone about a crime, the police never take no for an answer, they keep pressuring the person until that person says what they want to hear just to get them to stop, then the cops say "Praise the Lord! He confessed! Open the prisons! We got another one!" If a cop did that to me, I wouldn't keep saying no I didn't do it. Instead, I'd get up and attack them, then every time they told me to stop, I'd treat them how they treated me and just keep attacking, never taking no for an answer like them.

I've learned to tell when undercover cops are at work because they talk in a totally different way than the people they pretend to be. Teenagers, for example, have a unique way of talking that no adult can mimic (I know because the boss assigns me chauffeur duties for his teenage daughter); plainclothes cops are often seen staring or watching like a hawk, and the way I expose them is by mentioning something about a weapon and then watching who panics and who doesn't (generally those who panic are the plainclothes cops who run and cry to their uniformed buddies for help); and the way I know when traffic cops are on the prowl...Well, a Ford Crown Victoria is unmistakable, and the black-and-whites can be seen from over 1/4 mile away...That, and everyone is driving like little old grannies. Generally when the whole highway is slow as grannies, then the cops are out in force.

If the cops are trying to be discreet in their work, they aren't doing a very good job at it, because smart people like myself can see through their disguises. To outsmart smart people like myself, cops would have to go DEEP undercover...As deep, if not deeper, than US spies.

I am a no-nonsense, no-BS kind of person who is not afraid to stand up for what I believe in. I am brutally honest in my feelings and opinions; I am a bit of a nit-picker, always a very vocal critic of people's actions, and I do not make any exceptions; I have a ferociously barbed tongue, and I will not hesitate to use it to give people verbal tongue-lashings if I feel they deserve it. I stand up to people of authority if I feel the decisions they are making are just plain stupid, and I am not afraid to disobey a direct order and do things my own way if I feel I can do the job better and more efficiently my own way. I am an independent and open-minded thinker who does not like working as a team unless that team is coordinated and knows what they need to do to accomplish the goal. My biggest pet peeve are people who have a "my way or the highway" mindset. I say what I want, I do what I want, I get what I want. END OF STORY!
