Does anyone remember this area's support for the Bucs in their early years? Many years went by that we could not see the games on TV because they were not sold out. Wasn't it maybe for 15-20 years? It takes a while to build a fanbase.
Well, we are in the process of building that fanbase for the Rays. Look at the kids in this area and you will see the future of the Rays. Many of them support the home team and it will just take a while longer for them to get their parents on board.
Start by watching a game on TV. You will see some awesome baseball. The players we have on the field here are some of the finest in the game, even if the team's payroll is one of the lowest. For my money, the Rays organization really knows talent. I watch these players and I see many of the stars from my youth: Bob Gibson, Ozzie Smith, Tom Seaver, Pete Rose (before the downfall), Hank Aaron,...
This is our time, Tampa Bay.
To the Rays organization, I say be patient.
To the media, remember this area's history with baseball. No,you don't have to be cheerleaders, but give the Rays air time.
To the moms and dads and their buds and bffs, pay attention to the kids. Summer is coming up. Go out to a game. It will build some lasting memories. I remember mine.
Thanks,....Go Rays!
Yes, it's that time of year, again, baseball is back. The Rays had a promising spring training, and we will cheer them on in their efforts to a winning season.
I grew up in St. Pete and am very proud of our baseball history. The Rays are still a developing team, and they have a very loyal fanbase, even though it is modest in number. Still, we would like to have support of the local media.
On Thursday,April 3rd, the game was rained out, but there was no mention of this in the 10 o'clock sports report. My wife and I missed the televised game report on Rays TV. We are regular Fox 13 viewers, and would appreciate having a daily report on this, a truly American pasttime. I know that the sports segment is limited in time on-air, and that a wide variety of events are going on, but please keep us informed of our Tampa Bay Rays.
Thank You.......GO RAYS!!!!!!!!
