Two women kill themselves in OP while speeding, a motorcyclist does himself in at 39 & Broadway, a Lees Summit man, Randy A Ralstin, fleeing the police kill a mother of 3 and 1 of her 12 yr old daughters,  and a Mission Hills man get struck and killed last weekend by a suspected drunk driver.    6 young lives ended early.

Incredibly, Ralstin, while fleeing the police in the '90s, killed another motorist, while doing the same thing, fleeing the police.   He was sentenced to 15 years but got out after 7.  The revolving door jails are full and a lot of people have to serve just a little bit of time.

It probably helps ones chances of getting out that a charge of DUI is a misdemeanor, meaning a crime punishable by less than one year in the slammer.

A transportation study (kcstar 5/15)  ranked Missouri and the 4th worst place to drive in the nation in  regards to motor vehicle fatality incidents among teenagers.

yoyo,  you're on you're own.  Expect no help from the courts or government on this one.

Well, add three more, the Amish infant on 71 hwy on Fri, and the two men going the wrong way off 18th and Kansas Ave in KCK. BTW, in that wreck (kck) none of the drivers involved had valid driver's licenses! Insurance....forget that one too.

Kansas City isn't big on punishing people who don't wear their seatbelt. $10 dollar ticket isn't much of a punishment.

The populace isn't doing much better keeping their head above water either. 4 people drowned in the Missouri lakes over the weekend.

Add even two more to the road kill. One more from the Friday afternoon 71hwy crash and the semi driver over Raytown Road.

Matt, your interpretation that I make it seem like it was their fault is faulty thinking on your part. I am not assessing blame or fault on this accident, just that it happened and excess speed was involved, per the newscasts and witness accounts. For further accurate information pull the OP accident investigation and report back to all of us.

In this particular case excess speed was mentioned by several newscasts in addition to involvement by perhaps another car. The KCStar also reported it and went as far as to speculate road rage by the other unidentified vehicle. Those speculations may never be known to be true or false. Excess speed is easily ascertained.

Allstate Insurance has a study reported in the last few days reiterating that the KC area, KCMO in particular, is one of the worst cities in the nation regarding fatality accidents for teens.

KC has many problems, along with oter cities involving accidents. When there is an accident, 98% of the time it's someones fault. Personally, I would drive in the KC area, because of idiots who think they are the only ones on the road. I have been to numerous cities, including NYC, LA, Chicago, and many oters. As far as the KC area, it's bad. If you get a chance, look at the person's license plate when the pass at a high rate of speed. 9 out of 10 times it will display KS.
