And then our friends at Fox 13 just had to show Brad Pitt making the statement that, "Katrina was a man-made disater."

I'm not sure which is more irresponsible, Pitt's saying it or Fox's SHOWING it.

Give me a BREAK! Why is no one saying anything about what "a great job man did" in 2007 - no hurricanes striking the mainland US?

Indeed, Governor Crist had better put up or shut up or he will become another Bob Marinez - a one-term governor. I am very disappointed in his jumping on the global warming (er, um, I mean "climate change") bandwagon.

it's incredible!! yea "your in good hands" ...like pastorD said, warming their pockets...i blame the people that still have them as their insurance carrier..if i had them, i would have dropped them long ago even if i had to pay a higher premium to which i think allstate's the highest anyway???if so, it would be no shirt off my back..

It is kind of hard for Crist to be holding Allstate's hands to the fire on the outrageous rate hikes and demand an explanation and then they say .."global warming"...what retort does he have when he has jumped on the global warming bandwagon too? Crist is out and Allstate should go with him.

you know what.. i was properly insulted when i heard allstates justification for rate increases..to the point of having to take a few days to be able to write anything.. my first question is .. are we the public that dumb??? do they actually think we accept this line that spewed from their mouths? unbelievable! the whole truth is this.... they want the BILLIONS of profit! plain and simple. why is the truth so hard to speak and accept? the entire insurance system is nothing more nothing less than lawful theft! and crist.. he is going to need a change of address card! he is outta there ! what a total waste of space he is !

dlebel and randy loo, ya'll are soooo right!! i've been saying it for years, there is no reason for insurance hikes except personal gain and pocket padding..that's a HUGE MONSTROUS hole in our system...crist doesn't want change because these insurance companies sponsor his election along w/ anyone else that runs..that's why they have been allowed to soak us for everything..they found the hole in the system so they're gonna manipulate it anyway that they can..you watch, they may have to answer to their theft, but they'll get off scott free..they'll wave the steak bone in front of our state's legislature and they will grab it..it takes a crook to know a crook..Crist needs a foot up his a#$ and a boot out the door and ALL of us need to dump our insurance carriers just to prove a point..there is strength in numbers, the problem is, we need the numbers..so chances are, nothing will be done and the rates will continue to soar

My insurance carrier is the State Run Insurance fraud called Citizens....after Allstate dumped me because my house was too old. MInd you it has been through storms( all the storms since 1978) with not a scratch or broken pane and in the last 4 years went under extensive renovation and updating but it is not worthy after all the premiums paid into their coffers.

i don't understand the concept of INSURANCE...i thought that insurance was supposed to PROTECT us and our homes, etc..after accidents, mother nature, etc??as you said randyloo, the second you make a claim you either get dumped or they raise your premium..i'm better off not having insurance, no wonder why there are so many people driving w/o it ..they are actually the smart ones. By the time we pay out on premiums (house, car, etc..)we could have owned 3 homes 3 cars and still had enough to pay for any damage, and/or accident in full..in fact, once my home is paid off, i think i'm dumping my homeowners insurance..i only have 6 more years..screw them, i'll put my "so-called premium" in a separate account and at least draw interest from it..by the time i'd ever need to use it, i would probably end up a millionaire and be able to pay for any construction in full. SIX MORE YEARS!! maybe less if i continue paying more and adding additional payments to my mortgage.

Many I know are self insuring (keeping what they would pay for premiums in the savings)but they don't have mortgages. If I didn't have a mortgage I would do that also.

Being a first time home owner... on my own, that is... Condo association pays insurance for structural damages. I'm looking for Condo Onwer's insurance... and definately staying away from All State.

My question is this... how much are premiums, on the average, so that I can start my insurance fund?

it depends on where you live and the insurance you have..before you can drop your insurance, your condo has to be paid in full..check w/ your lender and insurance company for the rate you are paying through your association. If you have a loan on your condo, they usually make you carry insurance in addition to the insurance the assoc. pays..i'm not familiar w/ the condo insurance and not sure if it's the same as homeowners insurance.

Myboblue... thanks. Condo insurance is similar to renter's insurance... personal affects. Mortgage insurance is part of my loan payments.

I'm a third generation Floridian born and raised here in Tampa. I fly for a major airline and have SEEN IT ALL!! LOL!! I believe we should live life to its fullest, never take anything for granted, learn from our mistakes, and always take responsibility for our actions because Karma can bite us in the butt. Not all people are book smart, I'm one of them, but I pride myself on common sense and common courtesy to which some book smart people have a lack thereof.
