The Governator has announced that he will no longer be against gay marriage, and that he will now pass some bills that favor gay marriage. Ahhhnoooold has flip flopped by saying that the Republicans have been unfair to opposing views, and that he will be more open to others. This came after he spoke to the Log Cabin Republicans. He has now gone on record as of Friday night, to support t
he next pro Gay Marriage bill to come across his desk. What's next folks?

Nobody seems to want to touch this one. (Pardon the pun.) I remember when President Clinton came out and said that the military would act on a 'don't ask don't tell' basis as far as homosexual and lesbian soldiers were concerned. Well... that rule was pretty much in effect from my observations in the Army... at least in the types of units I served in.

Alllll that to say I don't understand the need for the gay marriage in a country where heterosexual marriage isn't working that well. To me it is as dead an issue as trying to put homosexuals as a minority. What do homosexuals expect to happen to the family values and the basic biology of humanity and protective instinctual procreation.

Even as a Christian I don't believe it's right to say that homosexuals are going to hell or that they are turning this country into Sodom and Gomorrah or that they are anyless capable of being everything from warriors to sanitation workers. I just don't understand the need to be socially acceptable in the public forums and I especially don't understand trying to justify same sex union using the bible which is clear about the matter.

It would be like if I as a man mixed with afro and euro genes decided tonight to go to a Klan meeting and demand they accept me as a member.

I do not think that we can stand in the way of homosexual unions. If they want to have a wedding that's fine... where I draw the line is in legalizing gay marriages so that the courts have to fill up with a whole new set of divorce proceedings. I don't even want to hear about the cost of counselling for the little Johnny has two mommies and I especially don't want teachers in the classroom telling my nieces and nephews how natural and acceptable homosexuality is. It boggles my mind that some activists actually think it's ok to shove this down our throats. (To steal a line from the agnostics about us christians.) And no... I wouldn't and haven't treated children of a gay union any differently cause as a mixed person I already know the one about "Well... it's the children who suffer the most in a white/black marriage."

There will always be self righteous people. It seems to me that in fighting self righteous judgemental people the fighters have become twice as self righteous. You ever hear a guy complaining about all the complaining? Well... I say ignore it neither pass a law for or against gay marriage. Make it a uniquely personal matter not at all governed by the government. For that matter folks who get married heterosexually would be nice if they'd let the pastor who married them settle disputes... or use the church janitor.

For my part you just never know who's going to show up accepted by God in that big banquet in the sky. But my bet is that it will be the fathers and mothers who had a heart for their children.

I like how I my Gay Marriage post doesn't make it to the MyFox list but this ones does. But thats besides the point I guess...

I personally don't see why people have a problem with gays getting married. I think Arnold is doing a good thing here, finally. Gay's aren't second class citizens.

statueman, even if marriage isn't working with heterosexuals, what does that have to do with homosexuals getting married? They deserve to be just as happy or miserable as us. Also, Sodom and Gomorrah wasn't even about gay's if you actually read the text.

And lastly, down with the "don't ask don't tell policy"!

oOlux0o

did you read what I said about sodom and gomorrah or did you just skim over it? My point was that there's no use either scape-goating gay/lesbians as the ultimate evil and nor is it necessary to pay it too much attention. It's going to go on in this country even if it's against the law. But there is also not much use asking folks to change to supply acceptance and tolerance of something they'd rather not see in the public square.

Or do we forget that roving bands of homosexuals used to run around city parks raping men and boys? After the retaliations for this started all over the country all of the sudden it was a "hate" crime. Unfortunately Sodomy may be a sympton of a greater evil but it is still considered by most folks with family values to be evil or at least a sickness.

The problem is Governator, the people of California have already voted on this. So why are you going against the will of the people AND the will of your own party?

This is why I am for a constitutional amendment against gay marriage because it takes just one fool/idiot to usurp the will of the people.

Everyone:

Thanks for all the comments so far...I'll admit that I loaded this one big time with the wacky pictures!

Statueman,
You brought out some very interesting points. You have a good memory of the past attacks that have happened to both men and boys. That's a very important thing to remember.

Sebar and Craftyguy,
You guys made me laugh!

DfDeportation,
Isn't that the truth! Amen guy!

oOluxOo,
I respect your comments, even though I dont' agree with some of them. Just to give you an idea of where I'm coming from, I happen to know someone who died from AIDS, and he died a slow and agonizing death. He contracted the AIDS virus around 1986, and died in 1995. He lived in a predominantly gay neighborhood in Long Beach, and all of his "friends" who lived in that neighborhood at the time are now all dead from AIDS. His landlord rented a bunch of homes on the street he lived on to these gay men, and they all did the deed with each other. I'm going to call my friend Brad. Brad, in his last days told his younger brother and his sister in law to warn people just how dangerous it is to practice homosexual acts. Brad and all his friends suffered extremely agonizing deaths...he had at least a dozen friends who died about the same time he died. His younger brother is a good friend of mine, and to this day, he and his wife miss him dearly. This is one of the reasons why I speak out against gay marriage...these guys won't stay loyal to one another...they're likely to have multiple partners even if they were to be "together forever".

Hey um you can get aids from heterosexual sex too.I do not know if you know that. All the problems you have with gays are also problems in straight couples I fail to see the difference between them. Also if you want to be seen as someone who is not throwing up crazy things and is trying to think about them DON'T USE LOADED LANGUAGE!
The people's will is not everything especially when the people are racist and opressing a minority group that is when it is the government's job to step in.

statueman: I did read it I just thought I'd mention that thats not what it's about since you brought it up and thats an issue many Christians bring up when this issue is brought up. Just because a couple of jerks went around raping men and boys doesn't mean all gays are going to go around doing that. Thats just as relevant as saying because theres men out there who rape women, heterosexuals are dangerous.

DfDeportation: Homosexuality may not be the norm but it is NOT unnatural.

mystere: I have a half brother who's gay and lives with AIDS. Sexually transmitted diseases ran ramped in those times because people didn't typically practice safe sex. Heterosexuals were not excluded from this period in time where AIDS was spreading. Granted, it was and is more common within the homosexual community for obvious biological reasons. Saying that homosexuals won't be loyal is very prejudice. You having known a person who wasn't loyal who also knew many other people who weren't loyal is irrelevant. Your segregated case doesn't speak for the community as a whole. We don't ban marriage for ourselves simply because there are men and women out there who cheat on their partners do we? Why should they pay for the mistakes of few when we don't?

mystere, just curious....who defines "normal" to you? Did you post for a serious discussion or are you one of those who just likes stirring the pot for the sake of attention? There are far more important issues of the day than this IMO. The whole gay bashing thing is sooooo yesterday.......

Is there ANYTHING in Arnold's life that represents conservatism?

ANYTHING?

Just wondering, because the way he bends over for Uncle Teddy, Maria and the Mexican Caucus in Sacramento it seems to me the only thing he wants in life is to be popular amongst his peers, and if that means giving up his convictions (as if he ever had any) he's perfectly willing to do it.

i have to agree with lux, gay marriages should be legal and we are way behind on make it legal. i dont' see this any different then giving people of color rights, or even giving women equal rights. many believe allowing such things like that to ruin this great country, and it didnt. i don't see what the big problem is here. who are we to tell them that they are right and they are not able to get married because we feel it's wrong or unnatural?

If Arnold had the same views today that he held when he was running for election the first time, he never would have made it. Right now I'm wondering if he's any better than Gray Davis. It's not like California is in better shape economically.

Maybe he's been drinking Liberal Kool-Aid or something.

Everyone:

Great responses! If I can say one thing, at least we're keeping up a dialog here.

jteamaz: I did post for a serious discussion, and this post isn't meant to be for gay bashing. I will admit, however, that I chose a few novel pictures to soften the blow a little bit...a little tongue in cheek jab at a serious subject. (Yes, I realize some folks may have gotten a bit upset and decided not to respond on this blog, and a few just took it lightly.)

Demboy, regarding the loaded language...if you are referring to the "ahnoooold" remark, that was meant to be a tongue in cheek joke. And yes, I do know that you can get AIDS through heterosexual sex. Also, there are already laws that protect gays equally alongside those who are straight...we really don't need some of the new laws...we need some prosecutors who have the backbone to enforce the existing laws when gays are wronged for the worst reasons - such as getting beaten up to a pulp, for example.

Gabe, I hope your half brother is doing well under the circumstances...that's hard when it hits your family. I have a buddy whose cousin is gay, and very active in the gay community where he lives...yes, the gay cousin is a friend of mine, he knows where I stand, and yet we get along very well. As for you and your half brother, I hope you guys keep having quality time together as family.

One thing I will address is this: These guys I mentioned who died were very active in the gay community in Long Beach. These dozen or so guys who lived this one neighborhood remained promiscuous, even to the time they g

...got infected by the AIDS virus. Many of these men kept spreading the virus until they got too sick to engage in sex. They not only did the deed within their own neighborhood, but they went out all over the nearby communities, and spread the AIDS virus. Most of these guys didn't care! My friend "Brad" got the virus because his boyfriend did a number of guys when Brad had his first encounter with him. This "boyfriend" of his kept spreading the virus to others both in and outside the Long Beach area. A number of men who died in the Long Beach area during the mid 90s got infected by these dozen or so men from that one neighborhood. In fact, these men spread the virus around to many of the communities from Laguna Beach to the South Bay during the early to mid 90s. When my friend "Brad" got sick, he stopped having sex, left the neighborhood, and stayed with his brother and sister in law until he died. He left because he couldn't stand what these guys were doing to the others, and then told his brother some of the secrets about that community.

Now it's true that there are some who decide to stick with one person, but thee are a number who say they're going to stick with one, but really won't. Marriage vows will not stop someone who is going to stray.

I'm amazed at the ability, on this issue, for the majority to continue to say that the minority doesn't have equal rights.

If we always left it up to the people, then the civil rights movement, abolition, and inter-racial marriage would have never been legalized. When California first allowed inter-racial marriages, 91% of people opposed it. So, sometimes, yes, minorities have to be protected by the constitution, not the popular vote.

It always amazes how little many of you know on this issue, yet want to judge it.

Not normal? Sure, it may be a minority, but it's a minority that represents nearly 20 million Americans. That's more than the state of Georgia. Try telling Georgia that they don't deserve equal rights.

And, last time I checked, marriage wasn't just a 'Christian' issue. Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Jew, and Atheists are all allowed marriage, and they're even allowed the name of marriage.

Finally, seriously, you're going to bring up AIDS and sodomy? The notion of AIDS and gays is an unfair attack on gays. Gay rights started in the '80s, so did the outbreak of AIDS, which allowed conservatives at the time to link the two. If you knew anything on the subject, you'd know that HETEROSEXUAL African American women have the highest risk of HIV.

So, before many of you want to express your prejudice, I think it only fair to read more up on the issue.

I agree with Chapman Why Mystere do you think it is your job to regulate other peoples rights and lives based on your narrow life expieriences. What gives you that right? If gays want to get married and you don't like it that is your right but I do not think it is your right to block these people from trying to gain happiness. Conservatives love to defend marrige and how good it is at making stable families but when it is a gay couple that wants a stable family that is not good enough. Marrige is only for people who fit who you think should be married right? Marrige is more then something in the bible. It is older then christianity, older then islam even older then Judaism. Your not defending a christian institiution from gays your stopping people from enjoying a basic bond because you think its a christian thing.

I'm a life long North Orange County California resident. I work behind the scenes in radio, and I understand the pressures that the folks at Fox 11 and My 13 news go through to do a live show professionally. I don't like it when politicians try to make our government bigger than it is now. I oppose many of the things the Democrats are doing, because in my thoughts, they are selling out the public to nothing but garbage. In other areas, I'm an Anaheim Angels fan.
