I believe its widely recognized that secure borders is one issue that needs addressing in the post 911 era. And since the 60's civil rights movement all these special interest civil rights groups have sprung up to represent all the different cultures and creeds that make this a melting pot nation we have always been. This La raza group for instance will raise the point of race and bigotry to defend the Mexican illigal immigrants outside the possibility that this could be a national security issue. I don't see anyone acting as the concerned American. Everyone wants to associate themselfs as to their culture, althgough what is the American culture now other than consumerism? Are we not seeing the situation headed in this direction? This fracturing of the American people into their distinct groups is what led us towards our civil war 147 years ago. Meaning the southerners considered themsel'ves southern or a Virginian first, and an American citizen second. La Raza seems to represent the Mexican community over the benift of the nation as a whole.

Maybe so, but when the illegals apply for the benift's for themselfs, I'll bet it's for the benefit of themselves.

Illegals work hard thats true, but what about taxes? I'm sure they take out from the general fund and that is meant for those of us who put into it. Become legal or get the hell out.

Just because we all poop and pee and bleed they should be Americans? Of course not. I think that we should allow them to have some kind of easier process to become a citezen if they work or stay at home and take care of the family. But there are processes for things....I can't walk into the grocery store get what I want and need and walk out. I must first stand in line. Then, load my items. And finally pay for my items. Illegals aren't going through the right processes. True the process is timely, but if you want to be out waving red, white and blue flags and be a citizen, do it and get it over with.

And learn some English. If I were going to live in a foriegn country I would learn the country's primary laguage.

LaRaza is not American so therefore, they cannot be expected to care about AMerica. All they care about is that we take care of illegal aliens that are smothering our social services and costing us a fortune.

I despise groups like LaRaza because they are selfish, self-possessed, have no concern for anyone but their own cause and have no concern about the problems their cause creates. I am sick and tired of people who have no right to scream for "rights" telling us how to run our country.

When you have fought for this country, when you have grown up paying taxes, voting and supporting this country through thick and thin, when you have stood proudly and pledged allegiance (AND MEANT IT) and had a tear spring into your eye when you hear the national anthem IN ENGLISH, that is when you can talk about "rights".

Until then, you're just another screaming demonstrator wanting more for yourself and less for the rest of us.

good one missnancy,i agree!!..Hispanics have and many other immigrants have been in our country for umpteen years, never before had it come to this point that we had to stand up for OUR RIGHTS!!..its because illegals have started demanding rights, and taking away ours, and has just gotten way out of control now...enough is enough!!

Hey lilmama, when people first came here to the "New World" they were escaping prejudice, and looking for a place to worship God in the manner that pleased them the most. They were English (NOT AMERICANS) and they were Purtitans. There were NO AMERICANS untill after the Revolutionary War. They fought against tyranny, and they fought for freedom. While many may think this is the same, IT IS NOT! There are laws and rules in this country to allow immaigrants a place and a home in this country. Many of the current immigrants choose to be illegal. They is almost nothing keeping them from citizenship. There would not be an issue if they would just abide by our LAWS. They are not above the laws. My family came to this country from Ireland and became citizens of their new home.
