I got on the Navy's official web site to look at a picture of the USS Hopper, since in the news along with the cruiser Port Royal and frigette Ingraham. The ships news release stated that a crew member had turned up missing , last seen on Jan 3rd. Standard procedure is to turn about and retrace your coarse in hopes spotting the fallen crew member.

This leads me to wonder if they were doing this, when they ran across the Iranian boats in the straight. The Iranians tend to seize sailors at their opportunity as the Royal Navy found out last year. We may hear more about this story in the coming days.

The way I understand the article on CNN website, there was some relationship to the search for the sailor that was missing and the Hopper being in that particular area. What bothers me are several things. One is that how did 5 (yes FIVE) Iranian boats/ships get that close to our (U.S.) ships without our knowlege? What were those in charge of our ships doing? Perhaps NOT their job. And then there's a 3 star admiral on the news talking about how this is to be done and that is to be done. Uh Huh, make some more excuses. What's going to happen when the crazy Iranians do this again? He!! they didn't even have to sneak up on us. Kind of scary for me, for many reasons. Makes one stop and think about many things.
