must see hbo series.  bill compton (stephen moyer) plays a sexy vampire and sookie (anna paquin) shocks the louisiana town of bon temps when she starts dating him.  she trys to convince everyone that they are not evil and not to be feared.  vampires are integrated into mainstream society and there is even a vampire rights group pressing for equal rights. (sound familiar?)  although australian, jason (ryan kwanten) pulls off a pretty good american accent and he's nice to look at as well.  merlotte's bar and restaurant, where sookie works, sells "true blood" in a bottle served at 98.6 degrees.  "V" (vampire blood) is the illicit "drug" sold on the streets that causes euphoria and increased libido.  it's entertaining if you like satirical fantasy.

bruce and i are headed to san antonio for four nights.  besides the alamo, riverwalk, and of course the gay bars, are there any other must see sights you'd suggest?  he wants to do the six flags thing, but i'm not into violent rides so i guess i'll just wave to him with my feet planted firmly on the ground while he enjoys the sensation of plummeting to his death.

head on collision on his way to work.  worse news a wife could get.  massive, inoperable closed head injury.  eventually mechanical support was withdrawn by his wifes request and he was allowed to die rather than live in a vegetative state.  when he got to ICU, the ER nurse told us along with her report that his toe nails were painted red, and that perhaps he was a cross dresser.  when his wife got there, pulled the sheet back to rub his feet exposing his red nails i nearly gasped.  she didn't flinch.  so i came out and asked her, "did he like to paint his toe nails?"  she smiled and said, "after dinner last evening, our 5 year old daughter asked her dad if she could paint his toes.  he is a great dad and would do anything she asked of him".   we cried together.  when i was able to speak again, i updated the ER nurse who felt just awful about her presumption.  we all learned the moral to this story:  don't judge by what is seen on the surface, or the proverbial "cover".

i find it peculiar that most anti-gay rants appear in the "faith" category.  it affirms that religious based discrimination has evolved but still exists.  throughout history, people have used scripture to deny rights to many different groups of people.  i can cherry pick any passage, "interpret" it my way, and pass judgement on just about anyone.  i have grown weary of having clobber passages regurgitated to me and i resent being compared to criminals.  i don't understand how a person who was not born gay can profess so much knowledge about it being a choice. for me, it is not a sexual "preference" rather an innate orientation which has been around since air.   it's quite arrogant for someone to think that thousands of people from all over the world would "choose" to be gay just to irritate them.  i find it ironic that the ones who deny us validation through civil unions are the very same ones who call us promiscuous.  it is not only wrong, but dangerous to tell gay teenagers that they are sinners because of the way they were born.   the next administration will have to address our plight, and like interracial couples, women, and others who were discriminated against in the name of God, we will overcome and soon be treated equally as all honest, moral, tax paying, productive members of society should be treated.

did you see how surprised OJ was when all the guilty verdicts against him were read?  i know this case has absolutely nothing to do with the case from 14 years ago when he was wrongfully aquitted for cutting off nicole's head, but it's about time he realize he is not above the law.  since his search for the real killer from the greens in florida turned up nothing, perhaps a closer look from inside prison will.

before my first ex-husband, when i lived alone in an apartment in thibodaux, i made friends with a guy around the corner.  he'd come over and sit at the bar in my kitchen while i cooked.  we'd drink, eat, and have some good ole girl talk.  we were like sisters. now he has his own wikipedia page - quite infamous i'm afraid.  ronald dominique has confessed to murdering over 23 men in south louisiana.  i had even introduced him to a friend of mine (joe) and they hit it off moving in together.  "thanks for introducing me to a serial killer, randy" says joe.  ronald preyed upon the homeless or drug addicts who wouldn't be missed right away.  it pays to have LOTS of family and friends with which to stay in touch.  it sends chills down my spine to think of the times we were alone together.  he's where he belongs now - in prison with eight consecutive life sentences.

ever since ike blew through, i have been having a consistent nightmare about having much difficulty moving about.  i have had to climb steep walls, lift doors with my head, and crawl through tight spots.  then after the obstacle course i can't find my car.  i think it is directly related to the adjustments made while on lockdown at the hospital.  we ran around like sprayed roaches and smelled like goats.  i bathed and washed my hair - in a sink.  i felt like a katrician.  and i really didn't have to endure what others are going through right now.  are you having nightmares or worse, living one?

there are several legends attributed to saint christopher. these include the story in which christopher carries a small, yet almost unbearably heavy, child across a river. the child is later revealed to be Jesus Christ. It is this popular story from which christopher became the patron saint of travellers.

so we pray:

protect me, my passengers

and all who pass by

with a steady hand

and a watchful eye.

saint christopher protect us.

yep, i heard it with my own ears folks.  she is pro-choice for her own family, not for the rest of america.  she has asked that we accept her 17 year old daughter's "decision" to have a baby out of wedlock.  as for the rest of us, she'd prefer us to be no-choice - even in cases of rape and incest.

did bush feel uninvited to his own party's RNC?  pardon me fox, but i think the republicans have done enough damage to this country.  i also don't think the fossil did himself any good by chosing a lady who gets more shady each day.  i think our only salvation in rectifying this screwed up country is gonna be oh-bama in oh-eight.
